Abstract

The research objective was to apply the HOTS-based Value Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model to viral news in the moral knowing domain. The research uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental methods. The research design is pretest and posttest control group. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Kuningan. The participants in this study were students in class X MIPA 3 and X MIPA 4, each class consisting of 34 students. Student responses regarding the application of the VCT learning model were interesting, easy to understand, and motivated students in the learning process with the category strongly agreeing with a percentage of 82%, the category agreeing with an average of 54% and the category neutral having the lowest score, namely 4%. Student response to the VCT model is able to meet the challenges of critical thinking in life, has an average highest score of 74% with a category of strongly agreeing 42%, agreeing category 74%, neutral category with a score of 19% and disagreeing with the lowest score of 5%. Based on the analysis with the SPSS program, the average score (mean) achieved by students at the initial moral knowing before being given treatment was 65.17. The average value category of moral knowing in the control class at the initial stage (pre-test) had the lowest score of 34 and the highest score of 70. Furthermore, from the results of the analysis of the SPSS program, the initial average ( mean) moral knowing score of students was 57 .03. The pre-test average category level in the control class is quite low compared to the pre-test results in the experimental class. There is a significant difference in moral knowing between the experimental class and the control class. The average pre-test score for the experimental class was 65.171, and the posttest score increased to 85.371 or an increase of 20.20. Meanwhile, the average pretest score for the control class was 57.029, and the posttest score increased to 69.886 or an increase of 12.86. So there is a difference in the average Domain Moral Knowing the treatment before and after learning that applies the HOTS-based VCT model to the experimental class, has a t value of 25.250 > t table with df (0.05, 35) = 2.03, and a Sig value . = 0.000 which is less than 0.05, meaning that there is a significant difference in the average Domain of Moral Knowing between before and after learning that applies the HOTS-based VCT model. Meanwhile, the control class has calculated t value of 10.694 > t table with df (0.05, 35) = 2.03, and the value of Sig. = 0.000 which is less than 0.05, meaning that there is a significant difference in the average Domain Moral Knowing without learning that applies the HOTS-based VCT model. Learning that applies the HOTS-based VCT model gives better results to Domain Moral Knowing.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the interaction between learning motivation and problem-solving skills in the context of Social Sciences (IPS) learning at SMPN 8 Cimahi. Adopting a quantitative approach through a 2^3 factorial experimental design, this research involved 60 students divided into an experimental group (using Problem-Based Learning - PBL) and a control group (using Inquiry Learning). Data was collected through observation, documentation, pretest-posttest, and questionnaires, then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (One-Way ANOVA) with SPSS 26.0. The results showed a significant increase in problem-solving skills in the PBL group compared to the Inquiry group, especially due to the interaction with student learning motivation. Descriptively, the average normalized gain score of the PBL group (0.8424) was superior to that of the Inquiry group (0.7147). The One-Way ANOVA test confirmed significant differences in problem-solving skill improvement for both learning groups (PBL: F=44.220, sig<0.000; Inquiry: F=4.866, sig<0.016), with effects varying based on motivation levels. Furthermore, the interaction effect test (F=4.410, sig=0.022) confirmed a combined influence between learning methods and student motivation. These findings conclude that PBL is more effective in enhancing student engagement and problem-solving skills, while also emphasizing the importance of considering teaching methods and student motivation levels when designing learning activities.

Abstract

Civic Education learning still tends to be textual and less contextual, making it less interesting and ineffective in building students' character. This study explores the effectiveness of implementing the living lab learning model in shaping the character of national spirit and responsibility of students. This study used a quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post-test assesments and questionnaires which involved 232 Sriwijaya University students as research respondents. Analyzed using the N-Gain value and Pearson correlation. The results from implementation of the living lab indicated a moderate improvement in students' character, particularly in collaboration, social involvement, and sensitivity to national issues. Based on statistical analysis, a significant correlation was obtained between the implementation of this learning model and the development of students' character (p-value <0.05). This shows that the living lab approach allows learning to be more contextual and collaborative, as well as provides real experiences that are relevant to build students' character in facing the challenges of the 21st century. Longitudinal studies to evaluate the sustainability of the impact of this model in a long-term context are recommended for future research.

Abstract

Abstract

Schools in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border region, including SMP Negeri 2 Atambua, face unique challenges in instilling national values in students living in a diverse social and cultural environment. By implementing a conflict resolution approach in social studies, teachers can transform the learning process into an educational tool to foster national awareness and tolerance among students living in the border region. This study aims to determine and describe the application of the conflict resolution approach in social studies learning as an educational instrument to instill nationalist values in schools in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border area. The location of the study was at SMP Negeri 2 Atambua, with research subjects including teachers, students, principals, and other related parties. The method used was a qualitative case study, through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the application of the conflict resolution approach in social studies learning can create a harmonious learning atmosphere and reduce social tensions between students, while at the same time instilling nationalist values related to Indonesian history, state symbols, and the importance of maintaining the integrity of the nation. However, there are challenges faced, such as limited resources, facilities, and teacher training, as well as complex socio-cultural dynamics in the border area. The implementation of this approach is expected to be a strategic instrument in strengthening the nationalist character in the border area.
