Abstract

The correlation between religiosity and nationalism has been a paramount issue, particularly in Muslim-majority countries such as Indonesia. Maintaining the spirits of Islam and Indonesia is an arduous effort for young people. This article is based on research into the perceptions and practices of Gen Z Muslims in two prominent tourist islands, Bali and Lombok. The study employed a mixed-method approach, collecting data through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions with young Muslim activists. The study demonstrates the high level of religiosity and nationalism among young Muslims and a positive correlation between these two values. Religiosity and nationalism support and reinforce each other. Gen Z's vision of Indonesia's future also shows synergistic ideas of religiosity and nationalism. Therefore, excessive apprehension about a clash between religiosity and nationalism is futile. However, continuous efforts to maintain a balanced spirit of religiosity and nationalism are imperative to prevent extreme religious nationalism, which hampers the development of democracy.

Abstract

Abstract

Paulo Freire's thoughts, especially his criticism of the banking model and the notion of problematic education, remain relevant to examine the challenges of education in the digital age. Learning transformation that utilizes modern technology is often trapped in a one-way knowledge delivery pattern that marginalizes the critical participation of students. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relevance of Freire's thinking to the development of digital-based critical education, focusing on dialogical principles, the formation of critical awareness (conscientização), and efforts to overcome digital inequalities. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the library research method. Data was collected through a search of academic literature in the form of books, scientific journal articles, and credible scientific sources that discuss Paulo Freire's thoughts and their application in the context of digital education. The analysis was carried out thematically to identify the linkage between Freire's principles and critical education practices in the digital age. The analysis shows three key findings. First, the concept of Freire model banking has an analogy with passive digital learning practices, so that the transformation towards problematic education requires a reconstruction of pedagogical relationships based on collaboration and reflection. Second, Freire's dialogical principles proved relevant in building digital critical awareness, encouraging students to criticize algorithmic bias, misinformation, and power structures in cyberspace. Third, the implementation of digital critical education is faced with the gap in digital access and literacy, but also opens up liberative opportunities for the democratization of knowledge through cross-border collaboration. The results of the study confirm that the relevance of Freire's thinking in the digital era lies in its ability to inspire humanistic, participatory, and transformative educational models. Educators and policymakers need to integrate dialogical principles and critical awareness into digital learning designs, while addressing structural barriers such as inequality of access to technology. Thus, digital education can function not only as a means of knowledge transfer, but also as a space of liberation that enables students to become active subjects of social change.

Abstract

Arabic language learning in madrasas has a strategic role in developing communicative skills as well as understanding of Arabic culture inherent in the language. This study aims to analyze the application of behaviorism theory in Arabic language learning in Madrasah Tsanawiah and its contribution to improving student learning outcomes. The background of this study is the need for effective and adaptive learning strategies for student characteristics to improve the quality of Arabic language learning. By focusing on the principles of repetition, intensive practice, and positive reinforcement, behaviorism theory is considered capable of forming systematic and sustainable learning behavior patterns. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods and collects data through participatory observation, structured interviews with teachers, students, and madrasah leaders, and documentation of learning activities. The findings show that positive reinforcement strategies such as praise and giving small gifts can significantly increase student learning motivation. Meanwhile, the application of repetitive practice (drill) has been shown to strengthen students' long-term memory of Arabic vocabulary and sentence structures. Practically, this study suggests that the application of behaviorist principles in Arabic language learning design can increase students' active involvement and accelerate the process of internalizing the material. The implications of this study indicate that behaviorism can be an effective pedagogical foundation in developing Arabic language learning strategies that are more measurable, applicable, and appropriate to the context of secondary madrasahs.

Abstract

Understanding the historical context of the revelation of the verses of the Qur'an, or what is known as asbābun nuzūl, plays an important role in revealing the theological messages contained therein. Surah Ali 'Imran is one of the surahs that contains profound values of monotheism, spread across several verses that have different backgrounds of revelation. The purpose of this study is to examine the values of monotheism contained in QS Ali 'Imran verses 31, 59, and 128 using the asbābun nuzūl approach, and to explore the dimensions of monotheism in these verses more contextually. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Analysis was carried out on classical and contemporary sources of interpretation to identify the form of monotheism contained in each verse. The results of the study show that verse 31 contains the teaching of monotheism ulūhiyyah, namely that true love for Allah must be realized through obedience to the Prophet Muhammad. Verse 59 reflects the monotheism of rubūbiyyah, with the assertion that only Allah has full authority as the creator and regulator of the universe. Meanwhile, verse 128 shows the asmāʾ wa ṣifāt dimension of monotheism, with an emphasis on the nature of Allah as the Most Forgiving (al-Ghafūr) and that all decrees belong to Him. Thus, these three verses show that the values of monotheism in Surah Ali 'Imran can be understood more fully and deeply through the asbābun nuzūl approach, which reveals the historical and theological dimensions of revelation.

Abstract

Constitutional and legal protection in Indonesia guarantees workers' freedom to form unions, a fundamental human right. This paper aims to draw conclusions by examining the regulation and implementation of workers' right to organize through the perspective of Indonesian labor legislation, namely Law No. 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower, including the obstacles to its implementation. This research utilizes primary, secondary, and tertiary legal sources obtained through a literature review to conduct normative legal research using a juridical and conceptual approach. Based on the findings, the right to organize in Indonesia has a strong basis in international and national law, including the conformity with Law No. 98. However, problems such as forced union dissolution, workers' lack of insight, and weak enforcement of labor laws hinder the implementation of this right. To ensure the effective and fair implementation of the right to organize, increased government support, law enforcement, and union capacity are essential.

Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the sustainability and success of a company. As a discipline dedicated to managing human resources—recognized as the most valuable asset—HRM aims to achieve organizational goals and optimize performance. The irreplaceable role of humans in production, innovation, and achieving organizational objectives underscores the critical importance of HRM. Even with advanced technology and superior resources, organizational goals are difficult to achieve without active human involvement. HRM encompasses key aspects, including recruitment, selection, development, and performance management. Human resources contribute significantly through their talents, motivation, creativity, and innovation, all of which support organizational sustainability. The primary focus of HRM is to ensure the optimal and efficient utilization of human resources by creating a conducive work environment, providing continuous training and development opportunities, and maintaining harmonious work relationships. The strategic importance of HRM is further demonstrated by its capacity to address complex organizational challenges, such as formulating effective recruitment strategies, implementing training programs, and improving workforce quality. The HR department plays a critical role in designing policies and strategies to ensure a competent workforce that aligns with organizational needs. Consequently, HRM serves as an integral component of the overall management system within an organization. This study employs a literature review methodology, drawing on a wide range of sources, including books, national and international journal articles, and other supporting references. The objective is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the critical role HRM plays in supporting companies to achieve their objectives. HRM not only functions as an administrative manager but also as a key driver, prepared, willing, and capable of making significant contributions to organizational success.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the types of errors made by students in working on geometry questions of the Minimum Competency Assessment (MCA) type according to Newman's stages in terms of cognitive style. The method used in this research is qualitative. Data collection techniques were carried out through cognitive style tests, geometry test questions, and unstructured interviews. The instruments in this research were the GEFT test and the MCA type geometry test. The research took place a junior high school in Tasikmalaya, the subjects in this research were class IX students who had consistent cognitive styles and made different mistakes. The data analysis techniques used are according to Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation and verification. The findings from this research were that Field Dependent subjects made mistakes at the understanding, process skills and encoding. The contributing factors are that they did not master the material, were not being careful in calculations, and were not used to checking answer results. Meanwhile, Independent Field subjects made mistakes at the process skills and encoding. The causal factor is that they were not used to doing large number calculation operations. The implications of this study suggest that teachers should design differentiated learning strategies that consider students’ cognitive styles to minimize specific types of errors and enhance overall problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Developing teaching materials is a crucial endeavor that contributes significantly to the success of teaching and learning activities. However, the materials in the Mamba'ul Ulum Senior High School handbook for learning students' speaking skills in Bungah, Gresik, are limited and do not allow students to practice speaking in different situations. The book only presents dialogue texts and scattered vocabulary. This makes it difficult for students to develop speaking skills. This research project aims to develop, produce, and evaluate teaching materials that enhance students' speaking skills in response to daily situations. This study employs a qualitative and quantitative approach with a research and development (R&D) method. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Teaching materials were developed for Arabic language students at Mamba'ul Ulum Senior High School in Bungah, Gresik, through a process involving needs analysis, planning, material development, expert validation, improvement, field trials, and final revisions. (2) The use of teaching material products that have been designed through the development process is very effective in improving students' speaking skills. This is evidenced by post-test results that are higher than pre-test results. This study suggests the following: First, teachers should design teaching materials that align with students' needs and interests related to their daily lives. Second, teachers should use a variety of methods and strategies, and they should avoid using the students' native language. Researchers have designed speaking skills teaching materials that can support Arabic-speaking instruction at Mamba'ul Ulum High School in Bungah, Gresik, and other educational institutions.
