Abstract

Metaverse, a combination of social media, gaming, and virtual reality technology innovation, is a new concept that has attracted the attention of various groups. This concept has also aided numerous groups of people, including the academician. As Metaverse offers various means to innovate, it is projected to change human lives and patterns of interaction. However, Metaverse also presents a number of negative impacts on mental health, even greater than the impacts of online games. This literature review aims to examine the impacts of the Metaverse on adolescents. Then, it develops the relevant preventive strategy through school guidance and counseling programs. This study is motivated by the lack of research related to the impact of Metaverse on adolescents’ mental health and intervention strategies. By applying the PRISMA steps, the study was conducted on scientific articles published from 2017 to 2022 extracted using Publish or Perish software. From the data collection process, we garnered and analyzed 25 relevant articles from ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Sage Journals, Google Scholar, WoS, ProQuest, Taylor & Francis Group, Emerald Insight, DOAJ, and Garuda. Our analysis results showed that Metaverse potentially has negative impacts on adolescents, especially on non-cognitive aspects, such as social skills, empathy, self-esteem, self-control, and self-regulated learning. In addition, a basic guidance and counseling strategy using various approaches and techniques is required, particularly group guidance using information technology and social media to develop youth literacy about mental health in this metaverse era.

Abstract

Learning independence is important for students today. The application of learning strategies must be considered with the advantages, disadvantages and uniqueness of student learning styles. Habit is a meeting between knowledge (knowledge), skills (skills), and desire (desire). To strengthen students' independent learning, counselors need to provide up-to-date services, one of which is the SOS-MB (SOS-Learning Independence) application. This application contains game material features, start playing and check independence. This research and development model uses the ADDIE model to develop the SOS-MB application and manual. From the results of product development, namely the SOS-MB application and guidebooks that have been tested for acceptability based on the criteria, usability, attractiveness and convenience aspects, it also turns out that the products developed can be accepted and used by school counselors. Also strengthened by the results of statistical tests that the application can be used for independent learning for junior high school students with the Wilcoxon test obtaining asymp sig.(2-tailed) 0.012 less than 0.05.

Abstract

Adolescent emotional development can be enhanced by effectively managing conflicts in everyday life, such as those encountered on social media. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Gestalt group counseling with Rehearsal techniques and Reality group counseling with Expressive Writing techniques in mitigating anger emotions in students' social media interactions. Conducted as an experimental research with a pre-test-post-test two-treatment design, the study utilized purposive sampling to select 16 eighth-grade students from State Junior High School 2 Wagir, Malang Regency, Indonesia who demonstrated high levels of anger in social media. The participants were divided into two groups: one receiving Gestalt group counseling with Rehearsal techniques and the other Reality group counseling with Expressive Writing techniques. Data on anger emotions were collected using a specific anger instrument and analyzed with a t-Test. The findings indicate that: (1) Gestalt group counseling with Rehearsal techniques is effective in reducing anger emotions in students on social media; (2) Reality group counseling with Expressive Writing techniques is effective in reducing anger emotions in students on social media; (3) Gestalt group counseling with Rehearsal techniques is more effective than Reality group counseling with Expressive Writing techniques in reducing anger emotions in students on social media. The outcomes of this research may provide school counselors and researchers with additional references for the application of Gestalt group counseling in reducing anger emotions in social media among students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between career entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention among vocational high school students, as well as to identify factors supporting the development of entrepreneurship programs in vocational schools. The research method used a quantitative approach with a questionnaire adapted from the entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurial self-efficacy scales, involving 276 vocational high school students in Malang City. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical tests, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and Pearson correlation with the assistance of JASP and SPSS software. The results of the study indicate that vocational high school students have a fairly high level of entrepreneurial intention, with behavioral control perception as the most dominant aspect. Career entrepreneurial self-efficacy is also relatively high, particularly in human resource management and business planning. Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between career entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention, although other factors also influence this relationship. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening students' self-confidence through integrated entrepreneurship programs, including financial literacy training, mentor guidance, and industry collaboration. This study recommends the development of a more comprehensive entrepreneurship learning model in vocational schools, considering affective aspects, practical skills, and ecosystem support to produce graduates who are ready to become entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Students’ learning problems in schools are issues that require serious attention from all stakeholders, particularly school counselors. Various factors contribute to the learning difficulties experienced by students today. Changes in curriculum, educational systems, and technological developments have significantly influenced the nature of students’ learning problems. In addition, challenges in other domains such as personal, social, and even career-related aspects also affect students’ academic functioning. These learning problems consistently appear every year, making them recurring challenges that school counselors must address in their service delivery, both now and in the future. Drawing from the experiences of school counselors in managing and providing services related to students’ learning difficulties, this study focuses on exploring the challenges of learning problems faced by junior high school students from the counselors’ perspectives. A qualitative research method with a phenomenological design was employed, involving school counselors with more than five years of professional experience. The data obtained were then analyzed in depth to answer the central research question regarding the challenges of student learning problems in the digital era. The findings indicate that in the current digital era, the primary underlying factor contributing to students’ learning problems is low learning motivation. This condition is influenced by excessive use of social media and online games. Another contributing factor is students’ perception that learning is unimportant, along with the belief that studying is a boring activity. These issues highlight the need for serious attention from all relevant parties, as low learning motivation among students must be addressed as a priority.

Abstract

Pesantren increasingly face psychosocial issues such as bullying and harassment, requiring sensitive interventions. Musyrif/musyrifah often serve as first responders but lack formal counseling or Psychological First Aid (PFA) training. This snapshot study examines the feasibility of large language models (LLMs) as simulators for developing counseling communication skills in pesantren contexts. Five LLMs: Gemini, DeepSeek, ChatGPT, Claude, and Meta AI, were tested using a culturally relevant case scenario. Their counseling responses were evaluated through a seven-skill rubric: attending, empathy, reflection, clarification, paraphrasing, summarizing, and nonverbal sensitivity. Five raters independently scored the outputs. Gemini achieved the highest mean (M = 4.89), followed by DeepSeek (M = 4.71) and ChatGPT-5 (M = 4.57). Claude (M = 3.86) and Meta AI (M = 3.20) scored lower, especially in nonverbal sensitivity. The study concludes that advanced LLMs, particularly Gemini and DeepSeek, show strong potential as scalable, culturally adaptive tools to strengthen counseling readiness in pesantren. Keywords: AI-assisted counseling, psychological first aid counseling communication, pesantren mental health, safe learning environment
