Abstract

Cultural awareness in schools is increasingly important in the face of the impact of globalization, especially in promoting an understanding of homogenization, national culture and the influence of consumerism. The ability to adapt in diverse cultural contexts is a key skill in the current era of globalization, where this phenomenon is changing our interactions, work and lifestyles. Multicultural awareness is key to understanding, appreciating and responding to cultural diversity in various contexts, as well as being the foundation for developing inclusive attitudes and improving the quality of interactions between individuals in schools. This study used a systematic literature review with 12 journals (shorted from 98 articles) to find multicultural counseling services that increase cultural awareness in adolescents. The study followed three stages of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA): identification of the records, screening for possible eligibility, and inclusion of the studies. The results of this study showed that the implementation and development of cultural awareness in multicultural counseling services was an important step to create an inclusive educational environment for students from various cultural backgrounds. Multicultural counseling strategies involve a holistic approach to promote understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity. Training counselors in cultural awareness is also important to increase the effectiveness of counseling services. Future research is expected to explore more deeply the role of counselors' cultural awareness in improving interactions with students from different cultural backgrounds and its impact on service quality and student outcomes.

Abstract

Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a method designed to evaluate system designs by identifying various failure modes of a system, which consists of multiple components, and analyzing their impacts on the system's reliability. The primary goal of FMEA is to identify and address key issues at every stage of the design and production process to prevent defective products from reaching customers, thereby safeguarding the company’s reputation. This study aims to identify the types of damage occurring in Kalmar-brand Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) equipment at PT. Kaltim Kariangau Terminal Balikpapan and analyze these failures using the FMEA method. Data collection was conducted through field observations, interviews, and documentation. The FMEA calculations also include repair recommendations for each identified failure. Based on the analysis, several failures were found to rank highest in severity for each piece of equipment. For RTG 07, the most critical failure was the "Trouble Hoist," requiring corrective actions such as repairs to the motor system, brakes, and gearbox.

Abstract

Container terminals are critical nodes in global trade, where productivity hinges on the efficiency of handling equipment like container cranes. At PT. Kaltim Kariangau, a terminal jointly managed by PT. Pelindo and the East Kalimantan provincial government, operational challenges persist despite infrastructure enhancements. In 2023, an additional crane was introduced to the terminal, increasing the total to three. However, issues such as prolonged idle times and equipment malfunctions adversely impacted crane efficiency. This research evaluates crane performance using BCH (Box/Crane/Hour) and BSH (Box/Ship/Hour) metrics to assess their effect on loading and unloading productivity. The analysis reveals that in 2023, the average crane performance was 27 boxes/hour, a level classified as good. Paradoxically, overall productivity declined post-crane addition compared to prior operations. Using regression analysis, the study identifies a strong positive correlation (R = 0.7316) between crane performance and terminal productivity, with a coefficient of determination (R²) indicating that crane efficiency accounts for 54% of productivity variations. The findings highlight that improved crane performance directly enhances operational output, where each unit increase in BCH corresponds to a 1.809-unit rise in productivity. Hypothesis testing confirms that crane performance significantly influences loading and unloading efficiency. These results underscore the need for effective equipment utilization and maintenance strategies to optimize terminal operations. The research concludes that while infrastructure upgrades are essential, addressing operational inefficiencies is critical to achieving sustainable productivity improvements.

Abstract

Bondowoso Regency is one of the areas in East Java with a high level of extreme poverty. The government, as a policy holder, has allocated funds to address this issue. Cash assistance in the form of Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) has been distributed on a large scale to alleviate poverty. However, poverty and the recipients of BLT in Bondowoso Regency continue to increase from year to year. Researchers indicate the presence of other factors within the community that perpetuate poverty, known as poverty mentality. Poverty Mentality is defined as the mindset and attitude of individuals who see themselves as financially poor and limited, leading them to feel trapped in a cycle of negative thinking and struggling to overcome adversity. This study aims to describe Poverty Mentality among BLT recipients and identify the meaning of BLT for them. The research uses phenomenological research methods with snowball sampling techniques. The Atlas.ti tool is also used to enhance research objectivity. The research findings show that the depiction of Poverty Mentality can be identified through the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral tendencies of informants who show a tendency to become complacent with the assistance provided. Meanwhile, the meaning of BLT itself is categorized into six aspects: a source of income, provision, opportunity opener, right of the poor, privilege, and savior. On the other hand, researchers have found anomalies among BLT recipients in Bondowoso, which may be a concern for local policymakers.

Abstract

A phenomenon exists among high school students who lack understanding of their cultural awareness and that of others, failing to appreciate ethnic and cultural differences. Consequently, these disparities often become subjects of ridicule or amusement due to each group's varied modes of speech, styles, and customs. To address this issue, cultural awareness is essential, making it pertinent to investigate the impact of knowledge on cultural awareness mediated by attitudes. This study employs a quantitative methodology described as explanatory research. The study used Simple Random sample methodology, whereas the analysis utilized Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The sample size was determined using the Raosoft sample size calculator with a 5% sampling error rate, resulting in a sample size of 213 students. The study's results indicated that information affects attitudes and cultural awareness, with attitudes potentially mediating the relationship between knowledge and cultural awareness. This study's conclusions pertain to Resource-Based Theory, suggesting that student behavior concerning cultural awareness can be influenced by cognitive expertise, namely in the areas of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and assessment. An elevated degree of knowledge can enhance students' attitudes, as seen by behaviors reflecting tolerance, empathy, openness, and respect within the framework of multicultural education. The recommendations for Twelfth-grade high schools to enhance their educational effectiveness with an emphasis on character development.

Abstract

Sharia economic and financial literacy plays a crucial role in shaping the mindset and financial decision-making of the younger generation, especially in Indonesia as a country with a Muslim majority population. However, the level of sharia financial literacy among the younger generation is still relatively low, which can have an impact on their understanding and participation in the sharia-based financial system. This study highlights efforts to improve sharia financial literacy through socialization activities at SMKN 1 Kalosi Enrekang, which involve lectures, interactive discussions, and educational approaches. This program aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of sharia financial principles and products, so that they can make financial decisions that are in accordance with Islamic values. In addition, the integration of sharia financial literacy in the education curriculum and the use of digital technology are expected to strengthen sharia financial inclusion and support sharia-based economic growth.
