Abstract

The potential of Metro Municipality's pekarangan contributes to food security, environmental sustainability, and community welfare in the post-Covid-19 era. Metro Municipality's pekarangan have a variety of plants that provide many benefits, including a source of fresh and healthy food for households. This research aims to raise awareness about the flexibility of pekarangan in adapting to changes, enabling them to withstand, recover from, and prepare for future disturbances. The typical size of a pekarangan, generally between 417 and 899 m2, provides an excellent opportunity to develop a complex agroforestry system. To fully realize this potential, policy recommendations include: 1) launching environmentally conscious education campaigns, 2) providing incentives and technical, 3) assistance integrating pekarangan management into urban development plans, and 4) establishing monitoring and evaluation systems for pekarangan. Maintaining the variety of plants found in 50% of the pekarangan is crucial. These plants include ornamental species (such as Aglaonema commutatum Schott, Sansevieria trifasciata Prain, Dieffenbachia seguine (Jacq.) Schott, and Adenium obesum (Forssk.) Roem. & Schult., fruit-bearing plants (like Carica papaya L., Musa paradisiaca L., and Persea americana Mill.), vegetables (including Capsicum frutescens L. and Allium fistulosum L.), and starch-producing plants (such as Manihot glaziovii Muell.Arg). Abstract

The research focuses on the hidden reason that made Daryl Morey's tweet controversial in America and China. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The primary data are response tweets of Daryl Morey's tweet about the Hong Kong protest and Daryl Morey's initial tweet about the Hong Kong protest. This research also applies a transnational perspective; Fairclough's three-dimensional CDA is used to analyze and answer two research questions: how Morey's tweet about Hong Kong became a political issue between the NBA and China and how this issue affected the NBA. The research finding shows five reasons on how Morey's controversy became a political issue between the NBA and China: There are differences in interpretations of the tweet; where the U.S. interpreted it as freedom of speech and expression, but the Chinese interpreted it as a challenge to their sovereignty. Basketball's popularity in China expanded the escalation of the conflict. Moreover, by using Transnational as perspective and CDA as theory, researcher able to demonstrate how a single tweet can incite a global uproar and become the catalyst for a costly conflict between two superpower nations.

Abstract

This paper aims to complement the shortcomings of previous studies by examining the existence of cultural invasion in general, namely by selecting specific communities, in this case, the Ponorogo Regency, for the use of regional languages and social media as the focus of the discussion. This paper is based on the argument that the cultural invasion also penetrated the regional languages as part of the culture with the means of shifting, namely on social media. Through a survey method conducted on the people of Ponorogo Regency to fill out a questionnaire about the use of language on social media, it was found that the respondents actively used social media consisting of social networking, namely Facebook and Twitter, photo sharing, namely Instagram, and interactive media, namely TikTok. This data collection was carried out within three months, from July to September 2022. All respondents used social media to use Indonesian and foreign languages. Of all the respondents, apart from using this language, 28 respondents also used Javanese. Another 72 respondents only use Indonesian and foreign languages when surfing social media. However, compared to foreign languages, the number of Javanese users on social media is still more significant. This shows that cultural invasion did occur in Ponorogo, namely with the Javanese language, which experienced a shift from the primary language in communication because more people used Indonesian as the national language. In addition, the increasing use of foreign languages in social media shows symptoms of an even greater cultural invasion.

Abstract

Water utilization has recently been at its highest level of demand. The water needed to be clean, healthy, and determined to be suitable for consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to have a system that can monitor the water quality so thatinformation related to wate r suitability can be received regularly and in real-time. This paper addresses the critical need for real-time water quality monitoring systems. This study proposed a novel approach integrating the Tsukamoto fuzzy algorithm into an internet of things (IoT)-based framework, forming part of the Fuzzy Inference System. Our system serves as a decision support tool, enabling continuous assessment of water quality. The method categorizes water quality into three levels: good, moderate, and unhealthy, providing timely and precise suitability information. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the fuzzy logic method in delivering accurate output. Through remotely deployed IoT devices, water suitability and status can be monitored and analyzed in real-time over the internet. This research bridges the gap between traditional water quality assessment methods and the demands of our modern, technology-driven society, ensuring a reliable supply of safe and consumable water.

Abstract

The demand for implementing robots into our daily lives has surged in recent years, necessitating safe grasping for effective interaction with the environment. However, a majority of researchers rely on commercial grippers for their experimental studies, which are typically expensive and not accessible to everyone. Despite the existence of open-source designs, the assembly process is often challenging and requires modifications to enhance secure grasping. This paper presents a simple, compact, and low-cost gripper to offer an accessible and readily deployable solution for research and education. The gripper utilizes a parallel four-bar linkage mechanism, minimizing the number of components and incorporating off-the-shelf parts for straightforward assembly. Furthermore, to enhance its capabilities, the proposed gripper implements a soft skin tactile sensor on its fingertips. These sensors offer three-directional measurements using Hall effect sensing and embedded silicone. By controlling fingertip force based on information from the tactile sensors, the gripper achieves safe grasping. The gripper is evaluated to grasp daily life objects with different properties such as shapes, sizes, and levels of deformability. Evaluation results showcase the gripper's versatility, enabling it to securely grasp various objects, including fragile items. This outcome underscores the gripper's effectiveness, versatility, and safety in practical use.
