Abstract

This study was conducted to analyse the occurrence of extreme rainfall and the dynamics of the atmosphere prior to the occurrence of extreme rainfall and flood events in South Sulawesi during September-October-November (South Sulawesi’s dry season). The data used is daily data for the period 2001-2020. Using 50 mm/day and the 90th percentile rainfall threshold of 119 rain stations distributed over 24 regencies, extreme rainfall events in each region were identified. Furthermore, after screening for extreme rainfall events followed by flood events, a composite analysis was carried out to obtain patterns of atmospheric conditions before the extreme rainfall events. The results of the study confirm that spatially, the highest extreme rainfall indices values dominate in the western and northern regions of South Sulawesi, both frequency and intensity indicators. Flood events in South Sulawesi during September-October-November 2001-2020 were recorded as 23 days, of which 19 days were the flood events after extreme rainfall events. The dynamics of the atmosphere before the extreme rainfall event followed by the flood event showed anomalies in precipitable water, 850 mb winds, and 200 mb winds. An increase in the amount of precipitable water and a wind speed of 850 mb, as well as a decrease in wind speed of 250 mb compared to normal in the South Sulawesi region and its surroundings, has resulted in an increase in the formation of rain clouds that have the potential to increase the chance of extreme rainfall.

Abstract

The background of this research is that the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership issued a Guideline Book for the Internal Quality Assurance System of Muhammadiyah Higher Education which was carried out in stages, systematically, planned, and directed, driven by the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM). The purpose of this quality assurance is to realize a culture of quality in the implementation of daily routine activities of the entire academic community. The fact that during the 26 years of the birth of the forerunner of Muhammadiyah University of Mamuju shows the inability of the institution to develop its quality through obtaining a higher Accreditation Ranking. This is evidenced by the value of the Institutional Accreditation acquisition being at Rank C from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education. The Research and Community Service Section has always been a source of problems and notes for the Institution to always be improved because the value obtained in this section is still very minimal overall. Based on this description, it is very interesting to conduct research on "Implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System in Research and Community Service at Muhammadiyah University of Mamuju". The purpose of the research is to determine the implementation of the internal quality assurance system of the Research and Community Service section at Muhammadiyah University of Mamuju. The results are expected to be a reference for compiling Institutional regulations in improving the Quality of Education and as a reference material for the contribution of further researchers' thoughts. This research method uses qualitative, a research method based on the philosophy of positivism, used to research natural object conditions, (as opposed to experiments) where the researcher is the key instrument. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Sampling is done purposively, namely the technique of determining samples with certain considerations. The independent variable in this study is building a culture of quality, while the dependent variable is the implementation of the internal quality assurance system for the Research and Community Service section. Data analysis uses descriptive statistical analysis. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the internal quality assurance system at the Muhammadiyah University of Mamuju is still in the high category. Support in improving internationally accredited journals, indexed by Scopus. In essence, research and community service on an international scale still need to be improved.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the main structures and actors in strengthening existing coconut development institutions in Majene in support of the Majene Coconut Village Program and determining strategic programs to increase coconut production in Majene Regency. This research will be carried out in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi. This research uses Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) analysis which functions to formulate complex policy structures based on elements, formulate a hierarchy of relationships between elements, and classify elements into 4 quadrants (autonomous, independent, dependent, and linkage). The result is that the institutions that are key actors in increasing coconut production in Majene Regency are farmer groups/gapoktan, the Livestock and Plantation Agriculture Service, coconut farmers and agricultural extension workers. Then the key programs to increase coconut production are extending plantation land, increasing human resources for extension workers, providing access to capital and standardizing coconut products and their derivatives. The three key programs to increase coconut production also have links with key actors. The extension program is a mandatory program for the Livestock and Plantation Service, with one of its activities being holding field schools. Apart from that, the program to increase human resources for extension workers as a key program is considered very relevant to the conditions faced by extension workers in Majene because the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Plantation has limited human resources to carry out extension work, they need help from agricultural instructors but are hampered by background knowledge and differences. main duties. Based on institutional analysis, the role of agricultural institutions can be identified in increasing coconut production in various aspects. First, social and institutional roles play a role in forming coordination flows between institutions so that the implementation of programs to increase coconut production can be well organized and achieve targets. Apart from that, institutions also play a role in empowering farmer groups so as to raise their motivation, awareness and involvement in extension activities which will ultimately increase cocoa production through the implementation of GAP. Furthermore, regarding the economic role, institutions play a role in providing production inputs to farmer groups which can have a direct impact in increasing production as well as providing a market for farmers to sell their cocoa through partnerships with companies and NGOs. Then regarding the role of the environment, agricultural institutions strive to cultivate cocoa which produces large and sustainable production through the use of organic fertilizers and pesticides.

Abstract

Progress inland transportation has not escaped the emergence of new problems from environmental aspects, accidents, and congestion. Traffic congestion occurs due to the imbalance between the growth of vehicles with improved infrastructure, rapid urbanization, low of discipline of road users, and side friction. Land use, type of road, and size of the city result in the characteristics and level of side friction. From these things, research on the analysis of characteristics and level of side friction on the D.I. Panjaitan Road section of Kendari City became interesting. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of side friction and determine the level of side friction. From research and analysis, it was found that side friction that occurs at three observation points is generally caused by the type of activity of stopped vehicles, parking on street, and vehicles come into and exit from the parking area and coming into or leaving the neighborhood. Based on side friction frequency data at three observation points showed the lowest Side Friction Frequency (SFF) of 33.5 and 39.4 events at point T3, then 67.6 and 64.4 at point T2, and the highest at point T3 70.5 and 59.9 events. The data shows that the side friction class on the road is categorized is very low. The low side friction at the observation location is caused by the observation time carried out during the decline in community activities due to the implementation of health protocols due to the increase in Covid-19 cases
