In the XXI century students as agents of change are required to have several skills, one of which is learning and innovation skills including critical thinking and problem solving (critical thinking and problem solving), communication (communication), collaboration (collaboration), and creative thinking (creativity), which is called 4C skills. To answer these challenges, it is necessary to apply learning methods that can involve students in real life, one of which is project-based learning methods. Mandarin Language Education Department, Faculty of Language and Arts, State University of Jakarta (PSPBM FBS UNJ) has carried out project-based learning since the even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. However, there has never been any evaluative research on this learning method This study aimed to determine students’ view on project-based learning in reading and writing courses to improve 4C skills. The scope of view in this study was investigated using the theory of Priyanto, Brown, Widodo, and Wardani regarding 4C skills and the theory of Daryanto, Jupriadi and Silitonga regarding project-based learning. The study used descriptive qualitative with a survey method. The respondents of this study were 41 students who had taken reading and writing courses I-II in academic year of 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 at PSPBM FBS UNJ. The results showed that students agreed that project-based learning in Advanced Reading and Writing courses I-II could be used to improve 4C skills.

Language is an important communication tool in daily interactions. Language in communication must be used as well as possible. The success of using language in the process of communication is not only by choosing good diction, but also needs to be aligned with the context of communication (pragmatics). Cooperative principles is one of the principles of communication in pragmatics. Grice's cooperativeprinciple in term of creating an effective communication is categorized into four principles, namely: (1) the principle of quantity; (2) the principle of quality; (3) the principle of relevance; and (4) the principle of implementation. The purpose of this study is to describe the fulfillment of Grice's cooperative principle in the conversation of the Chinese animation film xiong xiong le yuan 3. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The results of the study shows that there is fulfillment of Grice's cooperative principle in the animation film xiong xiong le yuan 3. Fulfillment is carried out by applying Grice's cooperative principle in every communication made by speakers and speech partners. The application of the principle of good cooperation in an animated film can also produce a good impact in conveying the messages contained in an animated film to the audience.

The phenomenon of code switching and code mixing has become commonplace in everyday life. Code switching is a situation where someone uses different language changes in communicating. Meanwhile, code mixing is a situation where someone mixes two or more languages in communicating. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of code switching and code mixing contained in the song Letting Go. The method used is qualitative by collecting data and the results are presented descriptively. This study uses a sociolinguistic study approach. The results of the research show that there is a form of code switching and code mixing in the song. The form of code switching contained in the lyrics of the song Letting Go is in the form of intersentential switching. This form of code switching occurs between clauses or sentence boundaries, where language switching occurs at sentence boundaries in different languages, namely from Mandarin to English or vice versa. Then, the form of code mixing contained in this study is in the form of inserting elements in the form of repetition of words.

Online Distance Learning (online PJJ) at the Jakarta State University Mandarin Language Education Study Program (PSPBM UNJ) was initiated by "compulsion" due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but in its journey, online PJJ was seen as a program worth developing. Online PJJ is seen as an option to overcome space and time limitations. Therefore PSPBM UNJ intends to carry out activities for the Development of Chinese Language Online PJJ Models. This activity is the initiation of the Mandarin Language PJJ Daring Program development activity. In order to guarantee the quality of an activity or program, an evaluation activity is absolutely necessary. The word Evaluation comes from the English evaluation which contains the basic word value "value". The word value or value in evaluation terms is related to the belief that something is good or bad, right or wrong, strong or weak, sufficient or not enough, and so on. As the first stage of the Mandarin Language Online PJJ Model Development activity, in 2021 PSPBM UNJ has carried out evaluation activities on the implementation of online PJJ during the Covid-19 pandemic. This activity is carried out through student thesis research activities. Research activities are focused on evaluating the implementation of online PJJ linguistics courses which cover 4 language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as Mandarin knowledge courses, namely Grammar. Each study includes research on the conditions of student motivation, the obstacles faced by students, and online learning media used in learning activities. The results of this research are contained in fifteen thesis research reports of PSPBM UNJ students. This article discusses the overall results of this research.

Learning Mandarin has been made easier by taking advantage of current technological developments, because there are many ways on how we can learn Mandarin by using a communication tool, in which almost all citizens in the world use a device called a mobile phone. So only with the internet and cellphone capital can we start learning language. Therefore, there are lots of applications that can make it easier to learn Mandarin without having to leave the house, one of the applications that will be discussed is the Chinese Conversation application. With this research helping students learn conversational Mandarin, it also explains the importance of conversation in learning Mandarin. In the research mmethod carried out steps such as research design, and data collection techniques with questionnaires to students. And the results of the study are that by using the Chinese Conversation application students can be made easier with the advantages that exist in the application features, and make students interested because there are fun words and pictures in learning Mandarin.

This study aims to describe and analyze the Chinese cultural values contained in the animated film Wish Dragon by Chris Appelhans. Wish Dragon (希望龙) is a 2021 animated film that tells about the friendship between dragon and human named Long and Din. This research is used the theory of sociology of literature and the theory of cultural values. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of conversations spoken by each character that contains Chinese cultural values. The data source in this research is the animated film Wish Dragon released in 2021 by Chris Appelhans with the main character Jackie Chan. Data collection techniques used in this study are listening and note-taking techniques. The researcher analyzes Chinese cultural values through Confucianism and Taoism approaches. This Chinese cultural value is found in conversations between the main characters, namely Din, Long and Lina. Researchers found that there were 6 data on Chinese cultural values in the Wish Dragon movie. Among them are divided into 3 cultural values in Confucianism, namely the principle of Xiao (respect), the philosophy of humanism, and the concept of Yi (benevolence). 3 Taoism cultural values which include Yin and Yang in food, doing good (te) and Yin and Yang in chi.

Sebira Island is one of the islands located in the northernmost part of the Thousand Islands, DKI Jakarta Province which has a lot of natural beauty that can be an inspiration in a work of art. This study aims to implement visual objects that characterize the environment of Sebira Island into a batik motif by exploring stylization and shape deformation so that the formation of Batik Sebiran. In addition, this study also uses Red Mangrove (Rhizopora stylose) as a dye in batik. This research method uses qualitative methods by conducting exploratory trials on motifs, natural dyes, and designs in designing Sebiran Batik. This type of research and creation research uses Research-led Practice, where in the research and creation of Sebiran batik works, research was carried out first to get results from concept exploration which then the results of the research were implemented into a work. The results obtained are Sebiran batik with five different designs with motifs inspired by the environment of Sebiran Island. Each design provides a philosophy of various motifs that are arranged into batik works. The unique environment of Sebira Island becomes a motif in written batik works by visualizing the environment that is characteristic of Sebira Island such as Hawksbill turtles, lighthouses from the Dutch colonial era, pidada trees, barongko, which are typical foods of the Bugis tribe, boats and selar fish.

The development of technology specifically social media in modern era, has brought peoples to the global network and excessive connectivity. In line with that, humans are immersed in cyberspace which acts artificially. Social activities in the real world are replaced by the forms of cyberspace activities, thus affecting patterns of human social behavior. One of them is asocial behavior that emerged because peoples are accustomed to living in cyberspace. Because social interaction that exists in the real world does not occur, many people being ignorant of their social environment. Today many people are more comfortable interacting in cyberspace while they are gathering with others, even though the social interactions should occur there, in the real world. This phenomenon is then reflected in postmodern artwork using postmodernism studies such as the Baudrillard’s Hyperreality Theory and Lyotard’s Postmodern Theory. This study used artistic research methods to overshadow the entire research process starting from the conceptual aspect, the visual aspect, to the process of producing in the operational aspect. Humans confront various problems and dynamics in life that eventually become a life experience. The experience can be reflected through the media of art so that it can be visually spoken and become an education for others. Like the work in this thesis which is a self-reflection of asocial experiences due to the influence of social media that displayed through visuals, techniques, and the process of creating postmodern art.

Burung phoenix dari peradaban Cina (Fenghuang) adalah burung mitologis yang ditemukan dalam mitologi Asia Timur dimana memiliki banyak filosofi positif. Bunga peony juga memiliki filosofi yang sama dengan burung phoenix. Persamaan filosofi antara burung phoenix sebagai objek utama dan bunga peony sebagai objek pendukung tersebut dipilih guna menyeimbangkan kesetaraan filosofi dan desain antara objek utama dan objek pendukung sebagai flora dan fauna. Maka dari itu munculah ide untuk menerapkan filosofi burung phoenix dan bunga peony kedalam suatu karya seni berupa produk fashion wanita dalam bentuk dress dengan teknik digital printing. Bahan yang digunakan adalah satin silk dan organza. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif case study research. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, dokumentasi dan kuisioner, lalu hasil kesimpulan penelitian ini di analisis.Penciptaan produk fashion ini berguna untuk mengangkat motif budaya atau suatu tradisi tertentu yang kemudian dikembangkan, dimodifikasi dan diterapkan pada produk fashion dengan di bawa ke arah yang lebih modern menggunakan teknik digital printing, sehingga desain yang dihasilkan orisinil dan limited. Penciptan produk fashion ini juga guna meningkatkan kreatifitas dan skill perupa pada desain tekstil serta memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat khususnya wanita dewasa dalam segi fashion.

Kebutuhan masyarakat mengenai produk fashion menjadi hal yang sangat penting, karena hakikatnya manusia tidak bisa terlepas dari fashion sebagai kebutuhan untuk kegiatan sehari-hari, terutama dikalangan wanita. Perancangan produk fasihon bertujuan untuk menyampaikan promosi budaya mengenai penyebaran informasi tentang ragam hias naga Suku Dayak kepada khalayak umum melalui produk fashion yang menggunakan teknik digital printing pada tekstil. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif case study research. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, dokumentasi, dan kuisioner. Analisis yang digunakan dalam kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah analisis SWOT. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan analisis SWOT dapat digunakan sebagai pertimbangan dalam menentukan strategi penjualan produk desain tekstil. Desain dan bentuk baju yang dibuat sangatlah kekinian, elegant, mewah bisa dibuktikan bukan hanya ketika dilihat namun juga ketika dipegang, karena hasil jahitan yang rapi, serta menggunakan material bahan premium dari baju yang dibuat. Hal tersebut menciptakan peluang karya yang penulis buat mampu untuk bersaing di pasar fashion dalam negeri maupun luar negeri. Kelemahan dari produk yang penulis buat adalah, ukuran baju yang dibuat mengikuti ukuran badan model professional dengan tinggi badan minimal 170cm jika ingin baju pas untuk dikenakan. Hal ini menjadi ancaman karena tidak semua orang bisa menggunakan pakaian ini secara langsung ketika membeli, perlu pertimbangan yang baik untuk membuat ukuran baju, agar siap untuk dijual secara masal kepada khalayak secara professional.
