Abstract

Abstract

Pre-service teachers must teach online due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. As a result, they lacked competence, particularly in face-to-face teaching. This study aimed to discover the challenges and opportunities pre-service teachers face when the rules for online learning are enforced. This research was based on the qualitative method. Online interviews and focus group discussions with respondents were used to collect data. The respondents to this study were five students in the fifth semester of 2020 in Indonesia. The data analysis technique used Five Phases of Analysis. The results showed that the main obstacle experienced by pre-service teachers on campus was that they could not experience the face-to-face teaching process because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, they were practicing online teaching. They said they were worried that when they became teachers, they would have to teach face-to-face even though they did not have enough experience doing so. However, this form of online teaching practice provides a better opportunity for pre-service teachers because they are better prepared for future forms of education where education will be integrated with technology. Pre-service teachers' experiences with online instruction during the COVID-19 showed challenges and possibilities dealt with by pre-service teachers where they can take advantage of several advantages or opportunities made available by the pandemic to help them develop into competent ICT educators. They will also have a leg up when the educational system shifts to a hybrid or fully online format in the future.

Abstract

Abstract

Heat-cured acrylic resin is one of the materials used in making denture bases which has the disadvantage that it easily absorbs water and can make discoloration. Papaya leaves (C. papaya L) contain phenolic compounds (C6H6OH-) which can affect the color change of heat-cured acrylic resin. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of various concentrations of papaya extract on discoloration of the heat-cured acrylic resin denture base. This experimental research is done in vitro at a laboratory using papaya leaf extract (C. papaya L) concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 20%. Thirty two samples of acrylic resin plates were divided into 4 groups, namely the immersion treatment group in papaya leaf extract concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 20%, and the negative control group in the form of aquadest soaking. The color change test was carried out using a UV-visible spectrophotometer. Data was analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA followed by Post-Hoc LSD test. The results of the study showed that there was a very significant difference in the mean value of color change between the treatment groups soaking in papaya leaf extract at concentrations of 10% and 20% and the control group, while at 5% concentration there was no significant difference from the control group. The lowest mean absorbance value was in the distilled water immersion group of 3.341350 ± 0.0942091 and the highest mean absorbance value was in the 20% immersion group of 3.553638 ± 0.0227829. This study concluded that there is an effect of various concentrations of papaya leaf extract on discoloration of the heat-cured acrylic resin denture base. Abstract

There are approximately 400 distinct ethnic groups in Indonesia (ethnic and sub-ethnic). Traditional medical practices are one example of the kinds of knowledge that have been handed down from one generation to the next in every nation, tribe, and subgroup within those nations. The people who live in the Lumajang Regency continue to have faith in the efficacy of traditional medicine. The practice of traditional medicine or shamans who treat residents around their residences in a number of districts in Lumajang, one of which is the Sumbersuko district, is evidence that this is the case. In the Sumbersuko District, there are a total of eight speakers who continue to uphold traditions related to the use of natural materials in medical practice. Interviews and questionnaires are being used as tools for the descriptive methodology that underpins this research project. According to the findings of this research, there are 37 different species of plants that are used as traditional medicine by the local community in the Sumbersuko District. These plants are categorized into 26 different families, with the Zingiberaceae family containing the most types of plants, including as many as 5 different species of plants. According to the findings of this research, the members of the community in the Sumbersuko District utilize the following plant parts: leaves, rhizomes, bulbs, fruits, skin, seeds, stems, flowers, sap, and all other plant parts. The leaf is the most commonly used component of the plant. To prepare plants for use, they are typically boiled, grated, ground, kneaded, and squeezed before being put to direct use. Keywords: consist of 3-5 words or phrases represent the focus of writing.
