Abstract

The application of learning methods will not work effectively if their application is not based on adequate knowledge. A method can be an obstacle to the learning process, not a component that supports the achievement of goals. Improving the quality of teachers is something that must be done by the education unit. The Serambi Mekkah Integrated Islamic Boarding School took the initiative to improve the skills of teachers (asatidz and ummahat) in learning, especially learning foreign languages, namely Arabic and English. The purpose of this activity is to increase the quality of language learning and so that the mastery of foreign languages and the communication skills of the students of the Serambi Mekkah Integrated Islamic Boarding School are also growing. The method of this activity uses the lecture method, direct demonstrations are practiced by participants, and questions and answers. The lecture method is used to convey general knowledge about the concept of language learning methods, grammar and translation methods (Qowaid wa tarjamah), direct method (mubasyarah), audiolingual method / sam'iyyah safahiyyah. Demonstrations are used to provide hands-on skills regarding the process of applying learning methods. Questions and answers are used to complete things that have not been accommodated by the two methods above. The results of this training can be declared successful. This can be seen from: (1) The attendance of participants is in accordance with the target of 95% (27 of 30 participants) (2) the results of the training are stated to be very good according to the analysis of the performance appraisal rubric. (3) Participants are very enthusiastic about participating in the training, which can be seen from the seriousness of participating in the training, the many questions that arise in the mentoring process and the teacher's willingness to apply learning methods in foreign development, both Arabic and English.

Abstract

During the colonial period, education must have been very difficult to get, because the colonizers who were in power at that time did not want education to reach the indigenous people. The Islamic education system during the Japanese occupation was basically the same as the Islamic education system in the Dutch era, namely in addition to the pesantren education system established by traditional scholars, there was also a classical education system as seen in madrasas. The Dutch have colonized Indonesia for centuries. And during the Dutch colonial period, access to Islamic education was very difficult because Dutch education was more dominant in non-Islamic education. While Japan actually gave relief to Islamic education in Indonesia, it was precisely the waiver from Japan that made Japan withdraw from Indonesia. The research method used in this study is a Literature Study that collects data from various written sources. This research aims to find out the cases of political policies related to Islamic Education in Indonesia during the Dutch and Japanese colonial periods.

Abstract

The family has an important role as the first madrasah in forming children's Islamic character, educating them to become a generation with noble morals. This article aims to analyze the role and function of the family in shaping the Islamic character of children in Indonesia. This analysis was carried out using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method based on PRISMA guidelines by analyzing 14 articles indexed by Scopus. The results of the analysis found five main functions of the family in shaping children's Islamic character, namely: i) religious function, which teaches religious values as the basis of life; ii) love and protection function, which provides affection and a sense of security; iii) socio-cultural function, which introduces Islamic norms and culture; iv) educational function, which guides children to learn Islamic values v) socialization function of Islamic values, which instills good manners and morals. These functions significantly support the formation of children's Islamic character in accordance with the goals of national education and the Independent Curriculum, which encourages synergy between formal and non-formal education. This analysis also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between families and educational institutions to strengthen the role of the family. This analysis also recommends the development of family-based education policies to create an Islamic generation with good and noble character.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the forms of planning, implementation, and the factors influencing the execution of discussion and presentation methods in Islamic Education (PAI) and Character Education (BP) at SMKN 2 Pariaman. The research employs a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, involving observations and interviews. The findings reveal that the planning of discussion and presentation methods utilizes various learning media, such as the internet, infocus projectors, audio systems, laptops, mobile phones, and PowerPoint, to convey material about hard work. The implementation of this method involves motivation from educators, development of students' talents and interests through organizational activities, and creating a supportive environment for less confident students. Furthermore, the study identifies factors affecting the implementation of these methods, including family, economic, environmental, and physical factors of the students. Efforts to address these challenges include public speaking training, participation in extracurricular activities, and guidance from educators, particularly from counseling services. The findings indicate that the discussion and presentation methods are not only effective in delivering content but also contribute to the development of competencies and learning interests of students at SMKN 2 Pariaman.

Abstract

This article Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts on education, evaluation, and social dynamics, as well as their relevance in the modern world. The approach used is a literature review with critical analysis of works discussing Ibn Khaldun’s key consepts. The study’s findings indicate that, according to Ibn Khaldun, education encompasses not only formal teaching but also the moral, social, and spiritual development of individuals. He emphasizes the importance of a gradual teaching method, interactive dialogue, and direct experience in the learning process. Evaluation, in Ibn Khaldun’s view, is closely related to learning outcomes. Proper evaluation enables comprehensive measurement of learning achievements, inckuding intellectual, moral, and social aspects, this process involves continuous assessment that fosters character development and individual competence. In the social domain, Ibn Khaldun’s theory of asabiyyah or social solidarity highlights the importance of unity in creating a stable and civilized society. This concept remains relevant in addressing the challenges of globalization and modern individualism. Although his ideas did not cover aspects of technology and globalization, the values he proposed can serve as a foundation for building a holistic and adaptive educational system. The article concludes that Ibn Khaldun’s thouhts have the potential to enrich contemporary theories of education and social development.

Abstract

Australia, although geographically close to Asia, maintains a cultural affinity with the Western world. The majority of the population adheres to Christianity, but Islam has grown rapidly in the country. The growth of Islam in Australia is inseparable from the active role played by the Muslim community, which consists of individuals who migrated to Australia for various reasons such as economic and political motives. To integrate and preserve their Islamic identity, Muslims in these communities make various efforts. Based on this background, this study formulates several problem formulations as follows: first, the history of the entry of Islam into Australia; second, the development of Islam and Muslim communities in Australia; and third, the role of Australian Muslim communities in the development of Islamic education in Australia. In conducting this research, the author uses a Library Research approach, specifically using historical research methods which include heuristics, interpretation, verification, and historiography to present a writing that is easy to understand.
