Abstract

Improvement of teacher professional competency can be done through training. However, training has not been fully successful, therefore training activities need to be evaluated relating to training materials, instructor requirements, training facilities, training methods, and implementation process. The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate of training to improve the professional competence of junior high school teachers. This research uses a qualitative approach. Research subjects is education authorities, supervisors, principals, and junior high school teachers in Kendal Regency. Data collection techniques with a questionnaire; interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using the flow method through the process of collecting, reducing, displaying, drawing and verifying data. The results of the study show that indicators of training materials have an average 2.12 (not good), instructor requirements 1.81 (not good), existence of training facilities 1.64 (not good), training methods 1.80 (not good), and management training conducted is on an average of 1.97 (not good). Based on these results it can be interpreted that the training has not been as expected and needs to be followed up with better management.

Abstract

In Indonesia, several training pieces have been conducted to develop HOTS-based science questions for elementary school teachers. However, few studies examine how elementary school teachers developed HOTS-based science questions. Hence, the current study is a case study that aims to analyze HOTS-based science questions developed by elementary school teachers in Indonesia. This study employed a descriptive-analytical method by analyzing 60 HOTS-based science questions developed by elementary school teachers. This study involved two raters from one of Indonesia's universities, who are experts in assessing learning for elementary school level to assess the questions. The aspects that are assessed are aspects of conformity with HOTS questions criteria, conformity with the criteria of thinking ability of elementary school students, and conformity with the quality of good questions. This study's findings show that many problems do not meet the first aspect, especially at non-algorithmic points, multiple ways, and multiple interpretations. Next, in the second aspect, most of the question does not use illustration to strengthen the developed question's information. The third aspect is a relatively fulfilled aspect by most developed questions. However, only a few developed questions are judged not to meet this aspect. Hopefully, this study's findings can be an evaluation material for policymakers in education to increase the training quality of HOTS-based science questions for elementary school level in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the value of character education in wisdom expressions sourced from news discourse. This research utilizes descriptive qualitative approach. The data of research are in the form of phrase, words, and sentense in news discourse that contain wisdom expressions. The data source is news discourse that contain character value in expressions of wisdom. Data collection techniques utilized are observation and note taking. The object of this study is the expressions of wisdom sourced from news discourse. The data analysis method utilizes the referential identity method and the constituent analysis method. Data analysis uses content analysis method. The result of this study indicate that are various value of character education in expressions of wisdom in news discourse, namely the value of religiosity, professionalism, national defense, creativity, peace loving, fighting spirit, love of environment, love of the motherland, harmony, and honesty. The conclusion of this research is that news discourse contain multidisciplinary wisdom expressions, which can be used in character education for the nation's successors.Keywords: Character Value, Wisdom, Discourse. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan nilai pendidikan karakter pada ungkapan hikmah bersumberkan wacana berita. Penilitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data berupa kata, frasa, serta kalimat yang ada pada wacana berita yang mengandung nilai karakter dalam ungkapan hikmah. Sumber data adalah wacana berita yang mengandung nilai karakter dalam ungkapan hikmah. Simak dan catat merupakan teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah ungkapan hikmah yang bersumber dari wacana berita. Metode analisis data menggunakan padan referensial dan metode agih. Analisi data dengan menggunakan analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat berbagai nilai pendidikan karakter dalam ungkapan hikmah dalam wacana berita yakni nilai religiusitas, profesionalisme, bela negara, kreativitas, cinta damai, semangat juang, cinta lingkungan, cinta tanah air, kerukunan, kejujuran. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah wacana berita banyak mengandung ungkapan hikamah multidisipliner yang dapat dijadikan sebagai pendidikan karakter bagi insan penerus bangsa.Kata kunci: Nilai Karakter, Hikmah, Wacana.

Abstract

Creative and suggest speech partners. This study aimed to identify the persuasion action strategies in da'wah discourse on social media of Instagram. The approach of this study was descriptive qualitative. The data of this study was persuasion utterances in da'wah discourse on social media. The data collection employed documentation, transcription, and listening method and was followed by note-taking techniques. The data analysis of this study used the distributional method and markup reading technique. The results of this study showed that there are eleven persuasion strategies used by Ustadz Hanan Attaki in da'wah through social media of Instagram. The eleven strategies include (1) the use of Al-Qur'an, (2) directly persuasion (3) indirectly persuasion, (4) persuasion using repetition, (5) the use of stories, (6) the use of the figure of speech, (7) the use of hope, (8) ) the use of analogy, (9) the use of Al-Hadith, (10) the use of expressiveness, and (11) the use of cause and effect. In the era of global communication, the realization of da'wah on social media can utilize persuasive language to influence speech partners so that the purpose of da'wah can be successful

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of assertiveness, speech continuity strategies, and social distancing scales in the discourse of the 2019’s presidential candidacy on social media (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook). This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences that contain assertiveness. The data sources in this study are Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Data collection used in this study is a note-taking method. The data analysis carried out in this study were the intralingual matching method, the PUP primary technique matching method, and the HBS advanced technique. The results of this study found that 1) the form of assertiveness in the discourse of the 2019’s presidential candidacy on social media, namely (a) the force to express a desire,(b) the force to brag about hatred, (c) the force to enhance politeness, (d) the force to report field facts, (e) the force to urge Pn's goals, (f) the force to raise complaints, and (g) the force to announce the agenda.2) continuity strategies in the form of (a) direct speech strategies and (b) indirect speech strategies. 3) the social distance scale contained in this study is (a) long-hedged speech and (b) short-hedged speech.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explore the achievement of competencies in information literacy and collaboration skills as part of 21st century competency in accounting education students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS). The respondents of this study were 207 students with a mixed method approach through convergent parallel design. The results of the study showed that most students had information literacy skills but were still relatively low. This can be seen from students who had mostly used the internet, but did not use trusted sources. This condition is exacerbated by students not filtering and validating the information so that the information submitted tends to be biased, only a few used credible journals as a reference while the rest used sources whose information credibility was still doubtful. In collaboration skills, the achievement of this competency varies between students who are active in campus organizations, non-campus organizations, and do not follow any organization. Those who were active in the organization seem to be better at mastering this competency. This can be seen in the aspect of contributions in groups and accepting responsibility. Courage to accept new responsibilities was not fully owned, some were still hesitant to accept the responsibility given to him for various reasons, especially those classified as inactive organizations. In this aspect, it appears that students who were active in non-campus organizations considered a mandatory task to be disliked. Whereas in the aspect of collective responsibility, students both active and non-active in organizations had the same competencies where they wanted and were able to work together in teams.

Abstract

The research aims at (a) describing the strategies and identifying the levels of refusal speech act in politeness, and (b) formulating the internalization of polite values in a process of the Javanese culture-based students’ character building. The research was conducted at Darul Ihsan Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School Sragen. It employed a descriptive and qualitative, and analytic, critic, and holistic approach. The data sources covered all the students (santri) and teachers (asatidz) in both formal and nonformal situations. The object was the refusal speech act, spoken in the communication at the school. The data were collected with the techniques of content analysis, in-depth interview, and observation. The data were analyzed with a contextual-extralingual method. In conclusion, the results of the research show that: (a) the refusal speech act is performed through indirect (63%) and direct strategies (37%), (b) the refusal speech act is spoken through indirect communication with polite (29%), impolite (56%), cost-benefit (3%), authority (5%), and optionality (5%), and social distance (2%), (c) the internalization of the students’ character building is realized in the forms of model, habit, supervision, advice and suggestion, warning, and sanction. The dominant factors in the internalization process are closely related to the teachers’ roles, Islamic Boarding School’s environment, and politeness building in the learning process. The problems are closely related to the low understanding of politeness, heterogeneous students, and students’ habits.

Abstract

Permasalahan karakter yang menjadi fokus dalam penelitian adalah degradasi moral pada anak sekolah dasar di Kota Magelang. Pemerintah Kota Magelang mempunyai program unggulan yaitu masyarakat religius menuju masyarakat madani. Adanya program unggulan dari pemerintah Kota Magelang, merupakan solusi menangani permasalahan karakter dengan menanamkan karakter religius pada anak-anak usia sekolah dasar. Penelitian bertujuan mendeskripsikan capaian program unggulan masyarakat religius menuju masyarakat madani di sekolah dasar Muhammadiyah Kota Magelang. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah evaluasi program CIPP (Context, Input, Process, dan Product). metode penelitian yaitu deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah sekolah dasar Muhammadiyah Kota Magelang, dengan melibatkan siswa, guru, kepala sekolah, bahkan orang tua siswa. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini berupa observasi, wawancara, studi dokumen, maupun angket yang mengungkap data mengenai analisis program masyarakat religius menuju masyarakat madani di sekolah dasar Muhammadiyah Kota Magelang. Hasil analisis evaluasi dari tahapan, disimpulkan bahwa program masyarakat religius menuju masyarakat madani yang telah dilaksanakan di SD Muhammadiyah 1 dan 2 Alternatif Kota Magelang, dapat dikategorikan efektif. Namun masih terdapat kesenjangan pada masing-masing tahapan  evaluasi

Abstract

Abstrak Studi ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan wujud kesantunan berkomunikasi dalam media sosial WhatsApp antara mahasiswa dan dosen. Studi ini adalah kualitatif. Data dalam studi ini adalah kalimat-kalimat santun dalam wacana akademik di media sosial. Sumber data dalam studi ini adalah tuturan wacana akademik di media sosial. Pengumpulan data dalam studi ini menggunakan metode dokumentasi, simak, dan dilanjutkan dengan teknik catat. Analisis data dalam studi ini dilakukan dengan metode padan intralingual; padan pragmatis dan diperkuat dengan teknik analisis kesantunan Brown dan Levinson berperspektif humanis. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan tindak kesantunan positif meliputi: (1) mengucapkan terima kasih sebagai penghormatan kepada mitra tutur, 48%; (2) memberikan pertanyaan sebagai wujud perhatian kepada mitra tutur, 8%; (3) memberikan informasi kepada mitra tutur sebagai wujud kepedulian, 18%; (4) menunjukkan keoptimisan kepada mitra tutur supaya termotivasi, 4%; (5) memberikan hadiah kepada mitra tutur dengan memberikan dukungan, 4%; (6) mengucapkan salam kepada mitra tutur sebagai upaya mendoakan kebaikan kepada mitra tutur, 8%; dan (7) menggunakan penanda identitas sebagai wujud menjalin solidaritas antara penutur dan mitra tutur, 10%. Hal ini menunjukkan mahasiswa memiliki sikap penghormatan yang tinggi kepada dosen dengan menunjukkan komunikasi bernada positif. Tindak kesantunan mengucapkan terima kasih, memberikan informasi yang dibutuhkan mitra tutur, menunjukkan sikap percaya diri, mengucapkan salam merupakan wujud komunikasi yang berperspektif humanis, yakni menjunjung nilai-nilai kemanusian. Penelitian ini bermanfaat dalam membangun komunikasi pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada kesantunan berbahasa yang memartabatkan nilai-nilai humanitas dalam pembelajaran. Kata kunci: kesantunan positif, akademik, media sosial, humanis Abstract This study aims to describe the form of politeness in communicating on WhatsApp social media between students and lecturers. This study is qualitative. The data in this study are polite sentences in academic discourse on social media. The data source in this study is the speech of academic discourse on social media. Data collection in this study uses the documentation method, refer to it, and proceed with note taking technique. Data analysis in this study was carried out using the intralingual equivalent method; pragmatic equivalent and strengthened by Brown and Levinson’s politeness analysis techniques with a sweet perspective. The results of this study show positive politeness actions include: (1) Thank you for the speech partner observer 48%; (2) giving questions as a form of attention to the speech partners 8%; (3) providing information to the speech partners as a form of concern 18%; (4) showing optimism for the speech partners to be motivated 4%; (5) giving gifts to speech partners by giving support 4%; (6) greeting the speech partners in an effort to pray for the kindness of the speech partners 8%; and (7) using identity markers as a form of establishing solidarity between the speaker and the speech partner 10%.. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan keterampilan guru dalam pembelajaran berpendekatan saintifik. Karenanya, penelitian termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah guru bahasa Indonesia salah satu SMA di Kabupaten Semarang. Sumber data penelitian adalah perilaku guru dan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran. Data diperoleh melalui teknik observasi, wawancara mendalam, dokumentasi dalam video dan gambar. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pengumpulan data (data collection), reduksi data (data reduction), penyajian data (data display), dan penarikan simpulan atau verifikasi (conclutions). Dari hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan guru dalam pembelajaran berpendekatan saintifik bervariasi. Variasi meliputi: (1) pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan langkah 5M (mengamati, menanya, mengumpulkan informasi, mengasosiasi, dan mengomunikasikan) yang diselingi penjelasan, (2) pembelajaran 5M yang diawali penjelasan, dan (3) pembelajaran 5M dengan dipandu tanya jawab. Dari ketiga variasi tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa konsep penalaran induktif dan berbasis keilmuan yang merupakan dasar pendekatan saintifik belum sepenuhnya terimplementasi dalam pembelajaran.
