Abstract

This research focuses on the forms of gender discrimination that occur in the leadership of student organizations and their impact on female students' self-efficacy. It aims to identify and analyze the various forms of discrimination experienced by female students and their influence on their confidence and participation in organizations. The research method used was a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and participatory observation. The results showed that there are four significant forms of gender discrimination: the lack of representation of women in leadership positions, harmful gender stereotypes, the neglect of women's voices in decision-making, and the existence of gender-based violence and bullying. The implications of this study highlight the need for more inclusive policies and support for female students in the school environment to overcome gender discrimination issues and increase their self-efficacy in leadership. This research is expected to be a reference for schools and stakeholders in formulating more effective strategies to create gender equality in student organizations.

Abstract

Digital transformation in teacher career management has become an urgent need with the rapid development of information technology. In the face of globalization challenges, technological adaptation in education, particularly in managing teacher careers, is crucial for enhancing the quality and professionalism of educators. This article aims to analyze the implementation of digital tools in teacher career management at MA Nurul Jadid, focusing on the use of e-portfolios, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Digital Personnel Information Systems. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques of interviews and documentation, as well as thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the application of digital tools improves career management efficiency, accelerates performance evaluation, and supports data-driven career planning. Despite challenges in digital literacy and infrastructure, the use of technology successfully strengthens teacher professionalism. In conclusion, digital transformation plays a significant role in teacher career development, with recommendations to enhance digital training and improve supporting infrastructure. Future research may explore the psychological and motivational factors influencing teachers' adoption of technology.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia are growing rapidly, yet many still struggle to maintain competitiveness and community trust. This study examines the influence of service quality and work commitment on preferences in choosing pesantren, with patronage figures (kyai) as mediating variables. Using a quantitative explanatory causal design, data were collected from 380 respondents, consisting of students and guardians at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, East Java. The data were analyzed with Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling. The results reveal that service quality significantly affects both patronage figures (β = 0.502, p < 0.001) and preferences (β = 0.243, p < 0.01), whereas work commitment significantly influences patronage figures (β = 0.354, p < 0.001) but has no direct effect on preferences (β = 0.096, p = 0.212). Patronage figures have the strongest impact on preferences (β = 0.539, p < 0.001) and mediate the effects of both service quality (β = 0.475, p < 0.001) and work commitment (β = 0.233, p < 0.001). These findings confirm that technical factors such as service quality and teacher commitment shape community preferences only when reinforced by the authority and legitimacy of kyai leadership. The study advances the SERVQUAL and Social Exchange frameworks in faith-based education and suggests that pesantren should integrate service improvements with stronger leadership visibility to sustain community loyalty and institutional competitiveness. The research implies that to effectively increase community preference for Islamic boarding school institutions (pesantren), institutions must not only focus on tangible improvements in service quality but also strategically emphasize the selection and visibility of a respected patronage figure (kyai) who possesses strong legitimacy in the eyes of the community.

Abstract

Organizational citizenship behavior, the prosocial attitude of employees/ organizational members mobilized by the leader, is expected to promote effective organizational functioning, so it is the task of the leader to motivate and inspire employees to be willing to do tasks outside the job description. This is an organizational problem that leaders must be able to handle, with some promising (good) employees leaving their jobs, and some employees who stay but with minimal performance because they have no better alternative. This study aims to explain the steps or efforts of leaders to apply inspiring leadership in building organizational citizenship behavior in Islamic boarding schools. This research uses a qualitative approach using the natural environment as a direct data source, with data collection techniques through literature studies and documents and structured interviews. Data analysis techniques by collecting data, reducing or sorting data, exposing data, drawing conclusions, and verifying the validity of data using triangulation techniques. Research findings show that leaders' efforts to apply Inspiring Leadership in Building Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) in Islamic boarding schools are: taking initiatives, strengthening organizations, acting as role models, and visionaries, building strong and productive communication, developing potential, collaborative practices, and teamwork, building emotional relationships, and innovation. Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang peran narasi positif dalam komunikasi antara sekolah dan masyarakat di era transformasi digital dengan tujuan memahami bagaimana narasi tersebut dapat membangun hubungan yang harmonis, meningkatkan keterlibatan, serta menciptakan kepercayaan di lingkungan pendidikan. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa narasi positif berfungsi sebagai alat strategis untuk memperkuat kepercayaan dan keterlibatan, namun efektivitasnya sangat bergantung pada keseimbangan antara keaslian, transparansi, dan inklusivitas dalam komunikasi. Narasi yang tidak autentik atau terlalu optimis cenderung menimbulkan ketidakpercayaan di kalangan audiens yang semakin kritis. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti pentingnya aksesibilitas teknologi dalam memastikan keterlibatan masyarakat secara menyeluruh. Implikasi dari penelitian ini mencakup kebutuhan untuk mengintegrasikan strategi narasi yang otentik dengan dukungan teknologi yang inklusif dalam membangun komunikasi sekolah-masyarakat yang lebih baik. Hasil ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan teori komunikasi digital dengan menekankan interaksi antara teknologi, narasi, dan konteks lokal dalam membangun hubungan yang produktif. Untuk penelitian mendatang, direkomendasikan pendekatan multidisipliner dengan melibatkan variasi demografis yang lebih luas untuk memperluas generalisasi temuan.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of madrasah principal leadership in shaping students' character through an approach based on Islamic values. This study is based on the importance of character development in the madrasah educational environment that not only emphasizes academic achievement, but also the formation of students' morals according to Islamic teachings. This study was conducted using a qualitative method through semi-structured interviews and observations of two madrasah principals under the auspices of the Pondok Pesantren Education and Social Foundation. The results of the study indicate that the principal applies an exemplary and disciplined approach to build a madrasah culture that values integrity, while the principal of Madrasah Diniyah uses a humanist approach by establishing close personal relationships with students. The contribution of these findings shows that different but complementary leadership strategies can create a conducive learning environment for student character development, and emphasizes the importance of integrity and empathy in building trust between leaders, staff, and students in madrasahs. This study is expected to provide practical insights for madrasah managers in optimizing a leadership approach that is in accordance with the context of education based on Islamic values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital transformation of Islamic education from the perspective of Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and to understand its implicationsfor fulfilling students’ humanistic needs in the digital era. The research employed a qualitative approach with a library research method by examining various literature related to the digitalization of Islamic education and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory. Data were analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the digital transformation of Islamic education contributes positively to fulfilling students’ physiological and safety needs through easier access to learning, flexibility of time and space, and more structured digital learning systems. Furthermore, digitalization also supports students’ self-actualization through the development of creativity, digital literacy, critical thinking skills, andindependent learning. However, digital transformation also creates challenges for social needs and humanistic values due to reduced direct interaction, emotional closeness, and social relationships between teachers and students. Therefore, the digital transformation of Islamic education should be developed in a balanced manner by positioning technology as a supporting instrument that remains oriented toward holistic human development so that the social, spiritual, and humanistic values of Islamic education can be maintained.

Abstract

The present study aims to showcase in depth the unique role of Kiai (Islamic scholars) leadership in institutionalizing and disseminating the narrative of religious moderation in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), and to explore the cultural strategies these schools use as effective bulwarks in deradicalization efforts. This study was designed with a qualitative, interpretive case study of several traditional and modern pesantren that played a central role in promoting tolerance in Banyuwangi, Indonesia. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with Kiai and senior santri (pesantren students), participant observation of teaching and learning activities, and documentation of Islamic boarding school records. Study findings demonstrate that the Kiai leadership in Blokagung was uniquely charismatic and collegial, successfully institutionalizing religious moderation through the integration of the Salaf and the modern era and the establishment of UIMSYA. His primary cultural strategy was to instill the values ​​of Aswaja (tawazun, tasammuh) as an ideological inoculation. The Kiai/Nyai became actors who built social resilience grounded in concern and guided the politics of akhlaqi. This made the Islamic boarding school an effective bastion of deradicalization, disseminating moderate narratives in a structured and legitimate manner. The study provides a theoretical framework that contextualizes traditional Kiai leadership as a model of indigenous leadership in counter-extremism, offering valuable insights for global public policy on the use of community-based educational institutions to foster social cohesion and counter-radicalism.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah into educational technology within the context of contemporary Islamic education. The rapid development of digital technology has transformed educational systems globally, creating both opportunities and ethical challenges related to human values, social responsibility, and educational sustainability. This research aims to analyze how the principles of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah can function as a normative framework for the development and implementation of educational technology, particularly in fostering ethical, adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable digital pedagogy. The study employs a qualitative literature review approach by analyzing scholarly sources, including journal articles, academic books, conference proceedings, and research reports related to educational technology, Islamic education, digital pedagogy, and Islamic ethical philosophy. The findings indicate that educational technology should not merely prioritize efficiency and technological innovation but must also protect essential human values such as intellectual integrity, moral responsibility, social justice, and human welfare. The study further reveals that Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah provides a comprehensive ethical foundation for addressing issues such as digital dependency, algorithmic bias, educational inequality, and the dehumanization of learning environments. In addition, digital pedagogy based on Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah demonstrates significant potential in promoting adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable Islamic education while preserving spiritual and humanitarian values in the digital era. This study contributes theoretically to the discourse of Islamic educational reform by proposing an integrative relationship between educational technology and Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah as a framework for developing value-oriented digital education.

Abstract

The main focus of this research is to understand the contributions and challenges faced by educators in designing and using learning tools that are in accordance with the principles carried by the Merdeka Curriculum. This study also aims to identify the challenges faced by teachers in adopting the Merdeka Curriculum. The method used in this research and community service activity is the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The PAR method consists of three interconnected words: participation, research, and action. This method involves several data collection techniques, including participatory observation, structured interviews with teachers, focus group discussions, and document analysis related to the Merdeka Curriculum. The data analysis techniques employed in this study involve qualitative methods such as thematic analysis of interviews and content analysis of the curriculum documents. The findings reveal that: (a) The Independent Curriculum shares similarities with the National Curriculum, easing familiarity for teachers despite name changes. (b) Pancasila student character dimensions and new Learning Outcomes are relatively unfamiliar, needing more time for integration into teaching materials. (c) The activity significantly improves teachers' grasp of the Independent Curriculum, simplifying its application in the classroom.
