Abstract

The development of digital technology necessitates a transformation in learning evaluation systems in schools, including at the junior high school level; however, many schools still rely on manual, paper-based examinations, resulting in limited student experience and insufficient digital readiness to face computer-based assessments. This condition potentially hinders students’ ability to adapt to national computer-based assessments. This Community Service activity aimed to implement Computer-Based Test (CBT)–based examinations to improve students’ digital readiness while enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of learning evaluation in junior high schools. The implementation employed a participatory approach using the Action–Plan–Analyze–Reflect (APAR) strategy, which included needs analysis, planning, action through socialization, simulations, and CBT exam implementation, as well as reflection and evaluation involving teachers and students. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ digital readiness, as indicated by their ability to operate the examination system independently, increased self-confidence, and better understanding of digital device usage. In addition, the implementation of CBT benefited teachers and schools by reducing correction time, minimizing paper usage, and simplifying the management of examination result data. The program activity contributes positively to the digital transformation of learning evaluation and serves as an applicable and sustainable model for CBT implementation in junior high school settings.

Abstract

Children's education faces challenges in providing innovative and engaging learning methods in the digital era. The biggest challenge is the limited use of technology as a learning medium because educators are less skilled in utilizing it. In an effort to overcome this, YouTube Kids, an application specifically designed for children with educational video content, can be an effective solution. This application provides a variety of safe and age-appropriate educational videos, as well as parental control features to ensure content security. The use of YouTube Kids as a learning medium can increase student engagement, information retention, and understanding of material through interactive concept visualization. Therefore, training for educators at Darul Mubtadi'in 02 Kindergarten in utilizing YouTube Kids is very important to create a more innovative, engaging, and effective learning environment. This training aims to improve teachers' skills in using technology and digital media, as well as integrating YouTube Kids content into the curriculum, so as to provide an active, creative, and enjoyable learning atmosphere for students.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping students' character in the era of globalization, marked by the rapid flow of information and technological developments, which, on the one hand, open wider access to knowledge but, on the other hand, pose a threat to the morality of the younger generation. This study aims to examine the relevance of PAI in strengthening students' faith, morality, and social values by examining social facts, international research findings, academic literature, and theoretical arguments. The research method uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies with content analysis of scientific journals, global institution reports, and Islamic education literature analyzed thematically. The results show that PAI plays a central role in instilling religious, tolerant, and humanistic character through value-based learning, habituation of worship, and teacher role models, with effectiveness greatly influenced by adaptive and contextual implementation strategies. These findings align with Lickona's character education theory and Bandura's social learning theory, and emphasize the urgency of strengthening an innovative, integrative, and multicultural PAI curriculum through collaboration between schools, families, and the community..

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies of teachers from traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in implementing Islamic values in public educational institutions. The main focus of this study is how teachers from Islamic boarding schools are able to instill Islamic values in educational environments that are not entirely based on religion. The research method used was a qualitative case study approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of teachers from Islamic boarding schools who teach in public schools. The results show that the strategies used include integrating Islamic values into learning, exemplary behavior, instilling Islamic morals, and a personal approach to students. Teachers from Islamic boarding schools play a crucial role as moral and spiritual agents in a heterogeneous school environment. The implications of this study indicate that the religious competence and character of Islamic boarding school teachers can strengthen character education in public institutions and serve as models for the application of religious moderation in educational practice. This study recommends collaborative training between public institutions and Islamic boarding schools to enrich inclusive and contextual Islamic values-based educational strategies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing symptoms of individualism in educational environments that threaten the values of togetherness, empathy, and social solidarity of students, especially in the context of a multicultural society. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is presented as a value instrument to respond to this phenomenon through a Value-Based Education approach that emphasizes the integration of values, character, and learning experiences. The focus of this research is to describe the process of integrating Islamic values in reducing individualism and shaping the social character of students in a multicultural environment. This research uses a case study method conducted at the Islamic Book Deliberation Institute of Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School in the Al-Hasyimiyah region. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of Value-Based Education through the stages of clustering individualism, planning individualism, applying approach, and approach evaluation successfully reduced the level of individualism of students from an egoistic orientation to social empathy. Internalization of multicultural Islamic values is implemented through four dimensions, namely curriculum integration, explicit teaching, social project-based learning, and the formation of an inclusive school culture. The transformation of student character is evident in the change in attitude from apathetic to participatory and from self-orientation to social orientation. The implications of this research confirm that Value Based Education is not only effective as a pedagogical approach, but also strategic in building collective awareness, empathetic character, and social resilience amidst the current of individualism in a multicultural society.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine the digital competency crisis among Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, identify the factors underlying their resistance to digital transformation, and analyze its implications for learning quality. The rapid advancement of digital transformation has fundamentally reshaped educational practices; however, many teachers remain insufficiently prepared to adapt to these changes. PAI teachers face more complex challenges as they are required not only to master digital technologies but also to integrate them with Islamic values within the learning process. This study employed a qualitative approach using a library research design by reviewing reputable scholarly articles, international institutional reports, and relevant academic documents. Data were analyzed through content analysis, involving processes of data reduction, thematic categorization, conceptual synthesis, and critical interpretation. The findings reveal that the digital competency crisis among PAI teachers is not merely a matter of technical limitations but is also shaped by pedagogical, psychological, cultural, and institutional factors that contribute to resistance toward digital transformation. This resistance, in turn, reduces instructional innovation, limits meaningful technology integration, and weakens the relevance of Islamic Religious Education to the learning characteristics of the digital generation. Furthermore, the study highlights the urgency of developing a comprehensive and integrative framework to address this issue. Therefore, this study proposes a digital competency transformation model encompassing technical, pedagogical, epistemological, and ethical-spiritual dimensions as a strategic framework for enhancing the quality and relevance of Islamic Religious Education in the era of technological disruption.
