Abstract

This study aims to map the narrative structure, identify social values and functions, and link the findings to the context of the Baridin–Ratminah folktale from Cirebon in order to produce recommendations for local culture-based teaching materials in higher education. The study used a qualitative method with a directed literature review design. Data were collected through a review of various written sources, ethnographic documents, and archives of speech performances from scientific repositories and cultural communities. The data collection technique was carried out using the PRISMA criteria-based selection procedure to ensure the relevance of the sources. Data analysis was carried out through three approaches: (1) structural analysis of plot, characters, and motifs using Propp and Todorov's theory; (2) analysis of social values and functions based on the Bascom and Dundes framework; and (3) analysis of the narrative context using Hymes' S–P–E–A–K–I–N–G model. The results show that the Baridin–Ratminah folktale has a consistent narrative pattern with stages of encounter, moral conflict, test of loyalty, and resolution that represent the values of religiosity, loyalty, simplicity, social control, and Cirebon cultural identity. The narrative context within society and digital media has shifted the meaning of the story and opened up opportunities for revitalization through visual media. These findings confirm that the Baridin-Ratminah folktale is worthy of being integrated as teaching material in courses on literary studies, cultural literacy, and the development of local wisdom-based learning media. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan struktur naratif, mengidentifikasi nilai dan fungsi sosial, serta menautkan temuan dengan konteks penuturan cerita rakyat Baridin-Ratminah dari Cirebon guna menghasilkan rekomendasi bahan ajar berbasis budaya lokal di perguruan tinggi. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain kajian pustaka yang terarah. Data dikumpulkan melalui telaah berbagai sumber tertulis, dokumen etnografis, serta arsip performansi tutur dari repositori ilmiah dan komunitas budaya. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan prosedur seleksi berbasis kriteria PRISMA untuk memastikan relevansi sumber. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga pendekatan: (1) analisis struktural terhadap alur, tokoh, dan motif menggunakan teori Propp dan Todorov; (2) analisis nilai dan fungsi sosial berdasarkan kerangka Bascom dan Dundes; serta (3) analisis konteks penuturan menggunakan model S–P–E–A–K–I–N–G dari Hymes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cerita rakyat Baridin-Ratminah memiliki pola naratif yang ajeg dengan tahapan pertemuan, konflik moral, ujian kesetiaan, dan resolusi yang merepresentasikan nilai religiusitas, kesetiaan, kesahajaan, kontrol sosial, dan identitas budaya Cirebon. Konteks penuturan dalam masyarakat dan media digital turut menggeser makna cerita serta membuka peluang revitalisasi melalui media visual. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa cerita rakyat Baridin-Ratminah layak diintegrasikan sebagai bahan ajar dalam mata kuliah kajian sastra, literasi budaya, dan pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis kearifan lokal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan menguji secara empiris hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dengan prestasi akademik siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD). Prestasi akademik yang rendah seringkali dikaitkan dengan faktor eksternal seperti lingkungan keluarga, khususnya interaksi orang tua dan anak. Permasalahan utama yang diteliti adalah sejauh mana variasi dalam pola asuh (otoritatif, otoriter, permisif) memengaruhi capaian nilai rata-rata siswa di sekolah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Subjek penelitian adalah 100 pasang orang tua dan siswa kelas IV dan V dari dua SD negeri di wilayah Lampung Timur yang dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner Pola Asuh Orang Tua yang diadaptasi dari Baumrind, dan data prestasi akademik diambil dari nilai rata- rata rapor semester terakhir. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis korelasi Pearson Product Moment untuk mengetahui tingkat hubungan antara variabel pola asuh dan prestasi akademik siswa. Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara pola asuh otoritatif dengan prestasi akademik siswa (r = 0,58; p < 0,01). Sebaliknya, pola asuh otoriter dan permisif menunjukkan korelasi negatif yang lemah. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pola asuh otoritatif, yang ditandai dengan tuntutan yang jelas disertai dukungan emosional, merupakan prediktor penting bagi peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa SD.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital culture, characterized by instant access to information, has fostered an "instant culture" that significantly impacts literacy practices, particularly literary literacy. This phenomenon raises concerns about declining interest in conventional literary works. However, amid these challenges, cyber literature (cybersastra) emerges as an adaptive form of literature in digital spaces, offering potential solutions to enhance literary literacy. This study aims to examine the role of cybersastra in improving literary literacy amid the increasingly dominant digital culture. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students, university students, and teachers active in digital environments. The instrument was disseminated via Google Forms and analyzed using thematic descriptive techniques, including frequency and percentage tabulation, followed by narrative interpretation to uncover patterns and meanings within the responses. The results reveal that instant culture has changed how people access and consume information, yet cybersastra has proven to be an appealing and accessible alternative form of literacy aligned with the digital habits of the current generation. Respondents acknowledged that cybersastra enhances reading interest and is relevant for educational purposes, provided it is accompanied by proper guidance. This study concludes that cybersastra not only broadens the concept of literacy but also offers an adaptive and meaningful approach to literary education in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the relationship between parenting styles and children's learning motivation in Cilangkara Village, particularly in cases of school dropouts. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, where data was collected through interviews and observations of school dropouts, their parents, and neighbors, allowing for an in-depth understanding of social and familial dynamics influencing learning motivation. The findings indicate that authoritative parenting increases children's learning motivation, while authoritarian and permissive parenting tends to decrease motivation, contributing to the decision to drop out of school, highlighting the theoretical relevance of parenting typologies in explaining motivational outcomes. Additionally, economic factors and negative experiences at school also influence children's decisions to lose motivation in continuing their education and provide practical implications for parents, educators, and local policymakers in designing context-sensitive educational interventions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the difficulties students face in developing quality children's story writing skills, particularly in relation to emotional literacy and content suitability for children's psychological development. Writing children's stories requires writers to not only master narrative techniques but also the ability to manage and reflect emotions effectively so that their writing can touch and be relevant to children. The main objective of this study is to identify the difficulties experienced by students majoring in Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) in writing children's stories in this context and to analyse the role of emotional literacy in improving the quality of their writing. This study uses a qualitative approach involving three classes of fourth-year students as samples. Data collection was conducted through surveys, interviews, and observations of the writing process. The results of the study show that students face challenges in two main aspects: first, difficulty in choosing ideas and themes that are appropriate for children's cognitive and emotional development stages; second, challenges in integrating story elements (characters, plot, theme) into a cohesive whole. These findings consistently underline the importance of emotional literacy as a determining variable that helps students choose themes and compose stories with the appropriate emotional depth. Therefore, this study recommends the need for a holistic curriculum integration, including comprehensive training in emotional literacy and an in-depth understanding of child development psychology to improve the quality of their writing. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan menulis cerita anak yang berkualitas, khususnya terkait dengan literasi emosi dan kesesuaian konten terhadap perkembangan psikologis anak-anak. Menulis cerita anak menuntut penulis untuk tidak hanya menguasai teknik narasi, tetapi juga kemampuan untuk mengelola dan merefleksikan emosi secara efektif agar tulisan dapat menyentuh dan relevan bagi anak-anak. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi kesulitan menulis cerita anak yang dialami mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) dalam konteks tersebut dan menganalisis peran literasi emosi dalam meningkatkan kualitas penulisan mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan melibatkan tiga kelas mahasiswa tingkat empat sebagai sampel. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui survei, wawancara, dan observasi terhadap proses penulisan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan dalam dua aspek utama: pertama, kesulitan dalam memilih ide dan tema yang sesuai dengan tahapan perkembangan kognitif dan emosional anak; kedua, tantangan dalam mengintegrasikan elemen cerita (karakter, alur, tema) menjadi satu kesatuan yang kohesif. Temuan ini secara konsisten menggarisbawahi pentingnya literasi emosi sebagai variabel penentu yang membantu mahasiswa memilih tema dan menyusun cerita dengan kedalaman emosional yang tepat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya integrasi kurikulum yang holistik, mencakup pelatihan komprehensif literasi emosi dan pemahaman mendalam mengenai psikologi perkembangan anak untuk meningkatkan kualitas tulisannya.

Abstract

Good governance remains a central ideal in democratic systems; however, its substantive realization in Indonesia continues to be constrained by the persistent dominance of oligarchic power, which existing studies largely frame as a pathological threat to democracy rather than an institutionally governed phenomenon. Addressing this gap, this study examines how oligarchic power can be repositioned within a framework of democratic governance through a neo-institutionalist perspective that treats oligarchy as an institutionally conditioned form of power. Using qualitative policy analysis, this research analyzes political financing, public policy formulation, and institutional reform through document analysis, regulatory review, and comparative policy evaluation. The findings show that oligarchic dominance is reproduced through weak institutional constraints, fragmented accountability mechanisms, and limited public oversight, yet can be systematically constrained through strengthened regulatory frameworks, credible law enforcement, and expanded participatory governance. By proposing the concept of repositioning oligarchy as an institutional strategy, this study contributes to governance studies, both theoretically and practically, by offering policy-relevant insights for improving democratic governance in Indonesia and other emerging democracies facing similar political–economic challenges.

Abstract

The Javanese people created some batik patterns depicting the human life-cycle, from birth to death. These motifs have high cultural and philosophical value. They are also used in important ceremonies throughout the human life-cycle. This cultural richness can be integrated into BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) learning. This study aims to design a strategy for integrating Javanese life-cycle batik into BIPA learning with portfolio writing models. This study employs a descriptive research approach with a qualitative focus. Data for this study was collected through observations at a reputable cultural museum, interviews with guides, documentation of batik motifs and literature on Javanese life-cycle batik. To ensure the validity and credibility of the data, triangulation techniques were employed. The results indicate that the life-cycle batik comprises 16 motifs used in seven traditional ceremonies marking stages of the human life-cycle. This diversity of life-cycle batik can be integrated into BIPA teaching materials using Notion as the medium. These materials cover vocabularies (40 words), as well as listening, speaking, reading and writing, and Indonesian cultural awareness. This study contributes to the development of alternative BIPA teaching materials that integrate culture. Integrating Javanese batik motifs representing the life-cycle into BIPA learning could enhance cross-cultural understanding and contextual language skills.
