Abstract

BACKGROUND Near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging is one of the most useful diagnostic methods for breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). It utilizes indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography, which requires a commercial camera that is not widely available. This study aimed to qualitatively assess the reliability of the modified NIR camera in diagnosing BCRL. METHODS This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted between December 2023 and December 2024 in breast cancer (BC) patients with BCRL. A commercial mirrorless digital camera was modified by incorporating an excitation light source and spectral filters to enable NIR imaging. To evaluate the camera reliability, intra- and inter-observer agreements were assessed using Kappa analysis. Three independent observers evaluated dermal backflow patterns of lymphatic flow: linear, splash, stardust, and diffuse patterns. RESULTS 60 BC patients with BCRL resulting in 280 images were included. The mean (standard deviation) age was 54.7 (10.1) years and body mass index were 27.1 (4.5) kg/m². Most patients had stage IIA BC (40%) and stage IV ICG lymphography (38%). Intra-observer analysis showed observers 1 and 2 of had a Kappa of 1.00 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.00–1.00), while observer 3 had Kappa of 0.99 (95% CI: 0.97–1.00). Inter-observer analysis between observers 1 and 2 showed Kappa 1.00 (95% CI: 1.00–1.00), while observers 1–3 and 2–3 had Kappa of 0.99 (95% CI: 0.97–1.00). Observer 3 misinterpreted 3 linear as splash patterns. CONCLUSIONS This study showed a high inter- and intra-observer agreements making it reliable for BCRL diagnosis.

Abstract

Thyroid nodules in Graves' disease raise awareness of thyroid cancer. Thyrotoxicosis in patients with thyroid cancer suggests extensive metastases or large tumours. Hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis can exacerbate symptoms of anxiety, depression, mood lability, and insomnia in patients with bipolar disorder. We present a rare case, a 29-year-old woman with a history of Graves' variant nodule and bipolar affective disorder since the age of 17, was admitted to the hospital for paraparesis within a month. Patients also complain of sleeplessness, hopelessness, and fatigue. The patient has been taking Thiamazole 10 mg twice daily, Propranolol 20 mg twice daily, Alprazolam 0.5 mg trice daily, Haloperidol 5 mg nightly, Trihexyphenidyl 2 mg daily, Lamotrigine 100 mg twice daily but not routinely. History of partial thyroidectomy 10 years ago with pathology results was said to be benign. Neurological examination: bilateral lower extremity motor weakness with a value of 2/5 muscle function. MRI of the spine with contrast: changes in signal intensity in the vertebral bodies C.2, C.4, C.5, Th.2 - tend to bone metastases. Thyrotoxicosis thyroid function test results (free T4 = 66.71 pmol/L (N = 10.6 – 19.4); TSHs < 0.05 uIU/mL (0.51 – 4.94 uIU/mL) and thyroid scintigraphy showed toxic multinodular goiter (cold nodule) with high thyroid uptake. A total thyroidectomy was performed, and the pathology result revealed papillary thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer can occur together with Graves' disease. Graves’ disease-associated cancers were more often metastatic to distant sites such as spinal metastases that significantly increases morbidity and mortality. Thyrotoxicosis was associated with regional metabolic changes of limbic structures that mediate affect in patients with bipolar affective disorder.

Abstract

This research seeks to enhance understanding of the implications of corporate governance, firm characteristics, and tax avoidance on firm value, especially in the context of Indonesian energy companies. The energy sector holds significant strategic value for Indonesia’s economy; yet, there are gaps in research concerning the nexus of governance, corporate characteristics, tax planning, and firm value. This research focuses on 216 firm-year records from energy companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2021-2024. Analysis is conducted through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) using the SmartPLS 4 software. Corporate governance is operationalized through the metrics of independent commissioners, board size, managerial ownership, and institutional ownership, and corporate characteristics are firm size, profitability, and leverage. The proxy for tax avoidance is the effective tax rate, while firm value is represented by Tobin’s Q. Findings indicate that corporate governance and firm characteristics both have an impact on tax avoidance. However, corporate governance and tax avoidance were found to exert no significant influence on firm value. Tax avoidance does not mediate the relationship between corporate governance and firm value or between firm characteristics and firm value. The results imply that, in valuing firms, energy sector investors in Indonesia are more concerned with the fundamental financial performance of firms than with the governance structures of firms and the firms' tax-planning activities.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the presence of several students who feel isolated, afraid to try new things, feel low in self-confidence, feel unappreciated, experience long-term emotional impacts such as depression, and frequently skip or miss classes. This study aims to determine: 1) Bullying behavior in class X at SMA Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan. 2) Self-esteem of class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan. 3) Examine the Effect of Bullying on Self-esteem in Class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan. This study used a quantitative research method using simple linear regression analysis. The population was 75 students, with a total sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. Data analysis in this study used percentages and simple linear regression. The results of this study indicate: 1) Bullying among 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan is in the high category. 2) Self-esteem among 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan is in the low category. 3) Bullying has a 9% effect on 10th-grade students' self-esteem. The results indicate that bullying has a negative effect on self-esteem in 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan, with a very low coefficient of 9%. The higher the level of bullying, the lower the students' self-esteem. This study shows that students who experience high levels of bullying tend to have low self-esteem. Therefore, efforts are needed to address bullying in students to improve their self-esteem. This study is recommended to principals, guidance counselors, and students to prevent bullying and improve their self-esteem.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the prevalence of smoking behavior in SMP Negeri 1 Tigo Nagari, where some students smoke due to peer influence, such as following others, invitations, or fear of being ostracized. The purpose of this study is to describe: (1) the level of peer interaction, (2) the level of smoking behavior, and (3) the influence of peer interaction and smoking behavior. This study uses a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression test. The study population was 52 male students in grade IX who were sampled using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire instrument, and the data were analyzed using a simple linear regression formula. The results of the study indicate that peer interaction is in the high category and smoking behavior is in the moderately high category, and there is a fairly strong influence between the two. Therefore, it is recommended for guidance and counseling teachers to increase positive peer interaction and reduce smoking behavior with various counseling services with relevant and interesting topics about smoking behavior.

Abstract

Tujuan riset ini mengetahui pengaruh komunikasi, sumber daya, disposisi, dan struktur birokrasi terhadap implementasi program inkubator bisnis, dengan permasalahan terkait proses implementasi. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Edward III, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan data dari kuisioner yang disebar kepada 90 responden. Data hasil penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan Smart-PLS 3.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara langsung komunikasi berpengaruh dan signifikan terhadap implementasi program inkubator bisnis dan sumber daya, sedangkan komunikasi tidak berpengaruh langsung dan signifikan terhadap disposisi. Sumber daya dan disposisi terbukti belum mampu memediasi secara penuh antara komunikasi organisasi dengan implementasi program inkubator bisnis baik. Sementara itu struktur birokrasi dapat memberikan pengaruh secara langsung terhadap disposisi dan sumber daya, namun tidak bisa memberikan pengaruh secara langsung terhadap implementasi program inkubator bisnis, tapi dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap implementasi program inkubator bisnis melalui disposisi.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital menuntut perusahaan event organizer untuk mampu beradaptasi melalui strategi pemasaran berbasis konten yang terstruktur dan berkelanjutan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendampingi penerapan Creative Content Management guna meningkatkan daya saing Saerah Wisata Ali Takrim di era digital. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dan kolaboratif melalui tahapan analisis kebutuhan, perencanaan strategi konten, pelatihan produksi konten kreatif, serta monitoring dan evaluasi performa digital. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia dalam pengelolaan konten digital, tersusunnya content calendar dan content pillar yang sistematis, serta meningkatnya kualitas visual dan copywriting konten promosi. Selain itu, mitra telah mampu memanfaatkan fitur analitik media sosial untuk mendukung pengambilan keputusan berbasis data. Implementasi Creative Content Management terbukti meningkatkan visibilitas digital, engagement audiens, dan penguatan citra merek perusahaan. Dengan demikian, pendampingan ini berkontribusi dalam memperkuat daya saing perusahaan event organizer secara berkelanjutan di tengah persaingan industri yang semakin dinamis.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of self-confidence among some students, which affects their learning independence, such as hesitation in answering questions, dependence on peers, and lack of initiative in completing tasks. This research aims to describe the level of students’ self-confidence, describe their learning independence, and examine the relationship between self-confidence and learning independence of eighth and ninth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 84 students, all of whom were selected as research samples using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between self-confidence and students’ learning independence, with a correlation coefficient of 0.499 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that higher levels of self-confidence are associated with higher levels of learning independence. Self-confidence plays an important role in shaping students’ independent learning attitudes; therefore, guidance and counseling services are needed to help improve students’ self-confidence in order to support their learning independence.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the fact that some students experience difficulties in social interaction. This is evident in their behavior of not greeting each other when passing each other, avoiding group activities due to discomfort and feeling confused when expressing opinions, and a tendency to isolate themselves. The purpose of this study was to describe: difficulties in social interaction, social anxiety, lack of interpersonal communication skills, feelings of inferiority or low self-esteem, social isolation, difficulties in social adaptation, and dependence on technology. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method. The population of this study was 307 guidance and counseling students. The sampling technique used was random sampling, with 66 students. The data collection instrument used was a questionnaire, and the data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the profile, 1). Difficulty in social interaction seen from the indicator of students' social anxiety is in the fairly high category, 2). Difficulty in social interaction seen from the indicator of students' lack of interpersonal communication skills is in the fairly high category. 3). Difficulty in social interaction seen from the indicator of students' feelings of inferiority or low self-esteem is in the fairly high category. 4). Difficulty in social interaction seen from the indicator of students' social isolation is in the fairly high category. 5). Difficulty in social interaction seen from the indicator of students' adaptation difficulties is in the fairly high category. 6). Difficulty in social interaction seen from the indicator of students' dependence on technology is in the fairly high category. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that students improve their social interaction difficulties

Abstract

The implementation of deep learning in Islamic Religious Education requires learning practices that accommodate students' diverse learning needs. However, classroom instruction remains predominantly uniform, limiting students' opportunities to develop meaningful understanding and internalize Islamic values. This study aims to analyze how differentiated instruction serves as the foundation for deep learning in Islamic Religious Education at the elementary school level. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 11 Islamic Religious Education teachers, 11 principals, and 11 students, supported by classroom observations and documentation. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that differentiated instruction was implemented through the identification of students' learning needs, adaptive lesson planning, flexible instructional strategies, and differentiated assessment. These practices fostered meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning experiences, enabling students to understand, reflect upon, and apply moral values in everyday life. The study concludes that differentiated instruction functions as a pedagogical foundation for developing deep learning within Islamic Religious Education. This research contributes a conceptual model that positions differentiated instruction as the initial stage in fostering meaningful and character-oriented learning in elementary schools.
