Abstract

Abtstract: The Effect of Lubricating Oil SAE 40 As Cooling Media of Quencing and Tempering Processes on Strenghth of Low Carbon Steel. This study was conducted to determine the effect of  lubricating oil SAE 40 as cooling media of quenching and tempering process on the mechanical properties of low carbon steel. Quenching process is done for 7 min, 1 and 2 hours holding times at 925 ℃. Furthermore, tempering process consumes 14 minutes, 1 and and 2 hours holding times at 450 ℃. The raw material for the steel specimen is ST 42. Charpy impact test using a method based on ASTM standards E23-02. The results of impact testing the highest impact toughness values obtained for the heat treatment process then diquencing is 2033 KJ / m 2, at 925oC with a heating holding time 7 minutes, the lowest value is 523 KJ / m 2. The results of testing the highest impact toughness values obtained for the heat treatment process then diquencing and given treatment at a temperature of 450 ℃ tempering at 2607 KJ / m 2, at 925oC with a heating holding time 7 minutes and tempering holding time of 14 minutes, the lowest value is 776 KJ / m 2 , at 925oC with a heating holding time 2 hours minutes and tempering holding time is 2 hours. Abstract

Research on the effect of temperature and silicon content cast on the value of Al-Si alloy violence done by re-casting of the alloy Al-0.24% Si. The temperature variation with temperature castings made ​​71, 760 and 810oC. The addition of silicon content is done by adding alloys Al-0.24% Si alloy ADC 12. From the results of the study concluded that the temperature did not cast a significant influence on increasing the value of violence. Effect of the addition of silicon content increases the value of the product of violence cast Al-0, 24Si at 33.67 to 56.06 BHN on silicon content of 2.66% for a temperature of 710oC cast. Hardness value at a temperature of 760OC castings for silicon content of 0.24% by 34.59 BHN also experienced an increase in the silicon content of 2.66% to 50.81 BHN hardness value. BHN hardness value of 36.55 at a temperature of 810 OC cast for the silicon content of 0.24% increased to 54.24 BHN on silicon content of 2.66%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi temperatur sintering terhadap sifat kekerasan Brinell dan struktur mikro komposit aluminium/alumina. Material yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah serbuk dan alumina merek Nippon Light Metal. dengan komposisi (% fraksi berat) Al₂O₃ 99,7%, CaO 0%, Fe₂O₃ 0,009%, MgO 0%, Na₂O 0,03%, K₂O 0%, SiO₂ 0,01%, TiO₂ 0%, H₂O 0,26%, LOI 0,03 %.Dalam penelitian ini serbuk aluminium sebagai matriks dan serbuk alumina sebagai penguat,  proses pembuatan spesimen serbuk alumina di kalsinasi dengan temperatur 200OC, selanjutnya alumina yang telah dikalsinasi diayak dengan mesin sieve shaker untuk mendapatkan serbuk halus dengan menggunakan empat ukuran ayakan yaitu 90, 75, 63 dan 53 µm, selanjutnya serbuk aluminium/alumna dimixing selama 180 menit menggunakan mixer tabung dengan komposisi aluminium 94% yang ditambahkan alumina 6% dengan penambahan alkohol untuk penghomogenannya. Pembentukan sampel dengan cara kompaksi dengan menggunakan metode uniaksial pada tekanan 260 Mpa, kemudian disinter dengan variasi temperatur 450OC, 475OC dan 500OC, ditahan selama 30 menit dengan laju kenaikan suhu 10OC permenit. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi, pengujian kekerasan Brinell dan struktur mikro.Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa semakin rendah teperatur sintering akan meningkatkan nilai kekerasan metode Brinell bahan Al 94% + Al2O3 6% dengan suhu sintering 450OC diperoleh nilai kekerasan tertinggi yaitu 1.325 BHN nilai kekerasan pada suhu 475OC diperoleh nilai kekerasan 0.465 BHN dan nilai kekerasan paling rendah pada suhu 500OC yaitu 0.441 BHN. Selain itu peningkatan suhu sintering akan berpengaruh terhadap bahan aluminium karena peningkatan suhu sintering kemudian diikuti pendinginan secara perlahan akan berakibat menurunkan nilai kekerasan aluminium.Kata kunci : Keramik, alumina, kekerasan, kompaksi, mixing, sintering, struktur mikro
