Abstract

The increasing lack of clean water has created a paradigm for treating wastewater directly from the source. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of processing domestic waste using plastic bottle caps in the anaerobe and aerobe reactor system by measuring several key parameters in wastewater. Experimental study on on-site wastewater treatment system using two bioreactors, a biodegradation made from fruit and vegetable peel waste, and local microorganisms. Domestic wastewater was used in this study. The wastewater treatment system's performance was monitored using parameters like pH, temperature, total suspended solids (TSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), collected daily at 9 am during peak wastewater generation. The wastewater treatment system using aerobe and anaerobic reactors with plastic bottle cap media and microorganism biodegradation effectively reduced the TSS, COD, and BOD. The anaerobe reactors were more effective at removing these pollutants, with a maximum TSS reduction of 81.1%, COD removal efficiency of 90.1%, and BOD removal efficiency of 80.2%. The longer acclimatization time of the anaerobe reactor may make it more efficient after acclimatization compared to the aerobe reactor. Although the anaerobe reactor may require a longer acclimatization time, it ultimately results in a higher efficiency in terms of TSS, COD, and BOD reduction compared to the aerobe reactor.

Abstract

In modern times, access to quality healthcare, especially in emergency situations, is crucial. However, the implementation of legal protection for emergency patients in Indonesian hospitals faces several challenges. This study employs a descriptive normative legal research approach to analyze existing regulations and identify implementation obstacles. Through qualitative analysis, it was found that inadequate medical facilities, shortage of competent medical personnel, and poor regulation enforcement hinder optimal healthcare delivery. Strategies such as infrastructure investment, training programs, and regulatory compliance monitoring are proposed to address these challenges. Ensuring equitable distribution of medical resources between urban and rural areas is vital. Improving legal protection for emergency patients requires coordinated efforts from stakeholders and government intervention. Enhancing awareness, training, and enforcement mechanisms is imperative to safeguard patients' rights and improve healthcare quality.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of SBS (Sick Building Syndrome) among employees working in hospitals ranges from 21% to 80%, which is higher compared to other places. SBS has become an issue due to poor indoor air quality, including at Hospital X in Bandung. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between indoor air quality and the incidence of Sick Building Syndrome among workers in the Central Surgery Building of Hospital X, Bandung. Method: An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 105 permanent employees of the Central Surgery Unit. A sample of 91 workers was selected using random sampling. Inclusion criteria were permanent employment and working >7 hours a day, while exclusion criteria included employees on leave, sick, or unavailable. Data were collected through observation using instruments such as a thermohygrometer to measure temperature and humidity, a lux meter for lighting, a sound level meter for noise, and an anemometer for ACH (Air Changes per Hour), following the standards of the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023. Additionally, interviews were conducted using a questionnaire containing questions about SBS symptoms to gather data on the occurrence of SBS. Data analysis used Chi-square and logistic regression at a 95% confidence level and an alpha of 0.05. Results: The study results indicated that the indoor air quality did not meet the required standards: temperature (77.3%), humidity (86.4%), lighting (63.6%), noise (0%), bacterial count (63.3%), fungal count (77.3%), and ACH (63.3%). There was a significant relationship between temperature, humidity, and ACH with the occurrence of SBS (p=0.001; p=0.003; p=0.031). However, there was no significant relationship between lighting, bacterial count, and fungal count with SBS (p=0.181; p=0.264, p=0.066). Conclusion: Temperature, humidity, and ACH are variables that are associated with the occurrence of SBS.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the pastoral service practices of Paul that are worthy of being imitated by the local church leaders today by focusing on the content of his farewell speech to the elders of the church in Ephesus based on Luke's record in Acts 20:17-38. The narrative hermeneutic method will analyze each statement related to his service actions. The results of the analysis show the pastoral service practices that are lived, taught, and need to be imitated by church leaders today in Indonesia. The study results show that the Apostle Paul presents the principles of pastoral service that are timeless and relevant to the context of local church service today. The fundamental principles he taught and the challenges pastoral leaders face today are: First, making the most of time. Pastoral leaders in the present era are challenged to maximize every opportunity in their service, especially amid many distractions and demands of the times. Second, he emphasizes the importance of humility in service. Today's leaders must be aware of the danger of arrogance and constantly realize their trustworthy source of strength. Third, Paul not only serves with enthusiasm but also with deep emotion. This challenges today's church leaders to engage emotionally, empathize with the congregation, and feel grief and joy with them. Fourth, he often faces threats and dangers in his service. Church leaders must be ready to face challenges, especially when voicing the truth of the Bible in an increasingly secular cultural context. Fifth, serving with teaching. He emphasizes the importance of correct and profound teaching. In the information age full of false teachings, pastoral leaders are challenged to continue to provide teaching based on the Bible and relevant to their congregation.

Abstract

Climate change poses a serious threat to all nations. According to the World Economic Forum's Global Risk Report (2019), climate change ranks among the most significant global risks, contributing to natural disasters, extreme weather events, food and water crises, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem collapse. These impacts have profound consequences for human life. Despite growing awareness of climate change as a critical issue, large-scale efforts to mitigate its effects remain insufficient. This research seeks to analyze the factors contributing to the lack of public awareness in addressing climate change, particularly from a legal perspective. Legal frameworks play a crucial role in mainstreaming climate change mitigation and adaptation to prevent environmental disasters and promote sustainable development. Employing a normative approach, this research will explore the legal mechanisms necessary for integrating climate change mitigation and adaptation into regulatory frameworks.

Abstract

Surakarta City is traversed by the Bengawan Solo River Sub-Basin which includes Kali Pepe River, Gajah Putih River, Kali Anyar River, Jenes River, and Premulung River. This condition results in the main burden of river water pollution coming from anthropogenic activities, both domestic and industrial. This study aims to examine the influence of urban area dynamics on river health with a case study of Surakarta City. This study used qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was carried out through observation techniques, and depth interviews. The results showed that there are three factors that affect river health, namely population increase, industrial and domestic activities, and public perception and participation. Surakarta City is one of the areas that contributes to river pollution from moderate to severe levels. However, there have been many efforts to evaluate river health by the local government, namely by normalizing riverbanks, controlling waste pollution, and other river management programs.

Abstract

One of the new legal subjects in Indonesian corporate law based on Law Number 6 of 2023 on the Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 on Job Creation into Law (Job Creation Law) is a One-Person Company (which is then written as OPC), which is a legal entity that meets the criteria of micro and small businesses. This review aims to analyse the management mechanism of an OPC under the Job Creation Law, which is linked to the Principle of Accountability in banking credit agreements. The management mechanism of a One-Person Company under the Job Creation Law is unclear, namely the ambiguity of the definition and functions of the company's organs, which is only centered on one shareholder, concurrently as the organ that runs and supervises the company, so that the management of an OPC becomes unaccountable. The unaccountable management mechanism of an OPC has the potential to abuse the authority of the company's organs. In a banking credit agreement entered into by an OPC, this can occur at the stage of the credit application process and the execution of the credit agreement. At the credit application stage, the absence of a Board of Commissioners in an OPC has the consequence that the decision on the credit application plan is only in the hands of one organ only, namely the shareholder, who is one person, who also doubles as a director of the company through a Shareholders' Resolution. There are no other organs that can be asked for consideration and or approval related to credit applications that are in accordance with the needs of the company. Meanwhile, at the stage of implementing the credit agreement, there is no other organ that carries out the function of supervising the use of credit and the obligation to submit periodic financial reports to the bank, in accordance with the positive/affirmative covenants agreed in the credit agreement.
