Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematical representation skills of students. This is evidenced by the mathematics learning achievement of Indonesian students in TIMSS and PISA which has not moved from the bottom 10 ranks. In learning mathematics, there are still some obstacles, including students who are still difficult to read mathematical expressions, errors in principles and procedures, not being able to connect one concept to another and difficulty communicating mathematical ideas / ideas. Mathematics learning based on android applications is an alternative idea that can be a solution to the problems above. This study aims to examine: (1) How is the application of Android-based mathematics learning (2) How is the process of mathematical representation and student responses in the application of Android-based mathematics learning. (3) How to anticipate learning that must be perfected to optimize student representation skills. This research method uses qualitative methods using instruments in the form of teacher observation sheets, student observation sheets, interview sheets and student understanding tests.Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya keterampilan representasi matematis siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa Indonesia pada TIMSS dan PISA masih belum beranjak dari 10  peringkat terbawah. Di dalam pembelajaran matematika, masih ditemukan beberapa kendala diantaranya siswa masih sulit membaca ekspresi matematika, kesalahan prinsip dan prosedur, belum mampu menghubungkan antara satu konsep dengan konsep lainnya serta kesulitan dalam mengkomunikasikan gagasan/ide matematika. Pembelajaran matematika berbasis aplikasi android adalah salah satu gagasan alternatif yang dapat menjadi solusi permasalahan diatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji : (1) Bagaimanakah penerapan pembelajaran matematika berbasis Android(2) Bagaimanakah proses representasi matematis dan respon siswa dalam penerapan pembelajaran matematika berbasis Android. (3) Bagaimana antisipasi pembelajaran yang harus disempurnakan untuk mengoptimalkan keterampilan representasi siswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa lembar observasi guru, lembar observasi siswa, lembar wawancara dan tes pemahaman siswa.

Abstract

The background of this research was the development of blended learning in teaching mathematics. This study aimed to determine the benefits of blended learning in teaching mathematics by analyzing previous research. The method in this study is a systematic literature review (SLR), it descriptive based survey in the form of an analysis of 25 articles from the Science Direct database in the 2010-2020 period. The results showed that there are many benefits of blended learning in mathematic, which includes:  to improve mathematical thinking skills, develop good perceptions, improve learning outcomes, increase self-regulation, increase thinking/problem-solving skills, improve communication skills, increase student participation, simplify the assessment process, increase computational thinking skills, and critical thinking skills. The most significant benefit of blended learning is student learning outcomes, shown in 52% of the articles. The research implies the importance of supporting teachers in identifying the objectives of blended learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the forms of representation constructed by primary school students in solving mathematical problems. Representation is the basis or foundation of how a student could understand and use mathematical ideas. The forms of representation, such as charts, graphs, and symbols, are essentially a long process of learning mathematics, but unfortunately these representations are often thought of and studied in its final form. Actually, representations should be given as support in the process of understanding concepts, the associations of mathematics, mathematical communication, constructing arguments, and apply mathematical concepts in everyday life through modeling. This research showed that the forms of representation constructed by the students are extremely varied. They are constructed in tables, images, patterns, and in the formal forms of mathematics (the formula). This study was also revealed that some students are able to develop forms of representation using logical mathematical processes. Students begin to formulate a representation using known premise, set the table, make conjecture, and subsequently arrange a formal representation.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSalah satu kompetensi inti sebagai guru matematika adalah kompetensi pedagogi yaitu mengembangkan kurikulum (enacted curriculum) dalam mata pelajaran matematika. Dalam Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) Matematika di Universitas Pendidikan Bandung (UPI), kemampuan pedagogi ini dilatih melalui workshop yang disebut subject specific pedagogy (SSP). Tujuan dari kajian ini adalah mengembangkan suatu model/prosedur workshop yang efektif dalam mendorong peserta PPG untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pedagoginya. Model ini dikembangkan atas dasar teori segitiga didaktik antara siswa, guru dan materi yang meliputi Hubungan Didaktik (HD), Hubungan Pedagogik (HP) dan Antisipasi Didaktik-Pedagogik (ADP). Dengan mengikuti prosedur workshop yang telah ditetapkan ini, diperoleh desain pembelajaran matematika yang baru dan efektif. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik para peserta PPG. Kelemahan peserta akan penguasaan materi dapat diatasi melalui pendalaman kembali (repersonalisasi) sebagai tugas mandiri, sedangkan kelemahan dalam memprediksi respon siswa dapat diatasi dengan memberikan para peserta pengalaman dalam mengobservasi dan refleksi.ABSTRACTOne of the core competencies as a mathematics teacher is pedagogy competency, i.e competency to develops curriculum competencies (enacted curriculum) in mathematics. In Mathematics Professional Teacher Education (PPG) in UPI Bandung, this pedagogy ability are trained through the workshop called the Subject-Specific Pedagogy (SSP). The purpose of this study was to develop a workshop model that are expected to be effective in encouraging PPG participants to improve pedagogic competence. This model was developed based on the theory of didactic triangle between students, teachers and course material that covers the didactic relationship (HD), the pedagogy relationship (HP) and didactic-pedagogic anticipation (ADP). By following the established procedure of this workshop, some new math learning designs produced were more effective. This shows an increase in pedagogical competence of the PPG participants. Participants weakness in terms of their material mastery can be overcome through repersonalization as an independent task, while weakness concerning their ability to predict student response can be overcome by giving participants experience in observing and reflecting.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berfokus pada komunikasi matematika dan representasi melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah yang dikembangkan melalui penelitian desain. Ada dua tujuan dari penelitian ini. Pertama, dalam jangka pendek, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui: bagaimana komunikasi matematika dan representasi siswa berkembang, apakah budaya kelas mendukung pencapaian kompetensi dasar-, dan apa hambatan siswa untuk belajar. Kedua, dalam jangka panjang, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan “teori” dalam pendidikan matematika. Kedua tujuan tersebut diharapkan dapat dicapai melalui penelitian pengembangan (dalam hal ini menggunakan desain penelitian). Tujuan pertama dicapai dengan desain penelitian yang meliputi tiga tahap: desain awal, eksperimen, dan analisis retrospektif. Penelitian awal menunjukkan bahwa: (i) komunikasi matematika dan representasi dapat dikembangkan melalui bahan pembelajaran kontekstual, intervensi guru yang tepat itu, berbagai pengaturan belajar-mengajar, situasi didactical dikembangkan oleh guru, dan usaha guru dalam menghubungkan situasi didactical yakni antara bahan dan siswa belajar, dan antara mahasiswa dan guru, (ii) kesulitan siswa meliputi: kesulitan dalam berkomunikasi ide matematika secara lisan, mewakili ide matematika aljabar, menggunakan representasi matematis untuk memecahkan masalah, dan mengusulkan argumentasi, dan (iii) kesulitan guru adalah menganalisis komunikasi matematika dan representasi siswa.ABSTRACTThis research studies mathematical communication and representation through problem based-learning which is developed by design research. There are two objectives of this research. First, in short term, the research is conducted to know: how students’ mathematical communication and representation develops, does classroom culture support the achievement of basic-competence, and what are students’ learning obstacles. Second, in long term, this research is conducted to develop “a theory” in mathematics education. These two objectives are expected to be achieved through developmental research (in this case using design research). The first objective is achieved by design research which includes three phases: preliminary design, experiment, and retrospective analysis. The preliminary research showed that: (i) mathematical communication and representation could be developed through contextual learning materials, proper teacher’s intervention, various learning-teaching settings, a didactical situation developed by the teacher, and the teacher’s effort in connecting didactical situations i.e., between learning materials and students, and between students and the teacher; (ii) students’ difficulties include: a difficulty in communicating mathematical idea verbally, representing mathematical idea algebraically, using mathematical representation to solve problems, and proposing argumentation; and (iii) the teacher’s difficulty is analyzing students’ mathematical communication and representations.

Abstract

Salah satu upaya untuk mengaktifkan siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat dilakukan melalui penerapan model pembinaan propesi guru yang dikenal dengan nama “Lesson Study”. Kegiatan Lesson Study dilakukan dalam tiga tahapan yaitu Plan (perencanaan), Do (pelaksanaan) dan  See (repleksi) yang dilakukan secara kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan. Dengan menggunakan  instrumen penelitian berupa Lembar Observasi dan Lembar Kerja Siswa dengan topik penjumlahan dan pengurangan bentuk aljabar suku sejenis dan bukan sejenis, penelitian dilaksanakan terhadap siswa kelas VII  SMPN I Jatinangor, observasi kelas dilakukan oleh 26 guru matematik pada hari Rabu tanggal 22 Desember 2006 bertepatan dengan Implementasi putaran pertama kegiatan Lesson Study. Dari hasil analisis lembar observasi pembelajaran terungkap bahwa model pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dapat memotivasi setiap anggota kelompok untuk bekerja sama secara bertanggung jawab mengerjakan tugas yang terdapat pada LKS. Nilai tugas matematik pada LKS yang diperoleh masing-masing kelompok berkategori tinggi, menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan`berdiskusi kelompok kecil untuk menyelesaikan masalah  lebih memotivasi anak dalam menemukan solusi yang lebih baik. Hal-hal penting yang diperoleh guru sebagai observer dari kegiatan lesson study ini adalah adanya penambahan pengetahuan tentang model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw; memilih media pembelajaran sederhana dan menyusun yang LKS dapat memotivasi dan membantu siswa bermatematika secara aktif; cara guru memberikan motivasi pada siswa; dan cara menjalin hubungan yang baik antara guru dengan siswa.

Abstract

Abstrak. Pokok pembahasan dalam skripsi ini adalah langkah-langkah mendeteksi pencilan dengan pendekatan Bayesian pada model regresi linear. Metode Bayesian memberikan hasil penaksiran yang lebih baik daripada penaksiran dengan metode klasik. Pendekatan Bayesian yang dilakukan adalah dengan mempertimbangkan distribusi awal (prior) dengan melihat fungsi likelihood data dan juga melibatkan distribusi posterior. Data pencilan merupakan salah satu masalah yang sering terjadi pada model regresi. Keberadaan data pencilan dapat mengganggu proses pengujian dan pengambilan keputusan dalam penelitian. Untuk itu, ingin dikaji lebih lanjut mengenai pencarian data pencilan dengan pendekatan Bayesian. Data pencilan ini dapat diketahui dengan membandingkan peluang prior dan peluang posterior dari data regresi yang diperoleh, jika nilai peluang posterior lebih besar dari peluang prior maka data tersebut dikatakan data pencilan.Kata kunci: Pencilan, Bayesian.Abstract. The main issue in this study is the steps to detect outlier by Bayesian approach in the linear regression model. Bayesian method gives better results than the assessment of assessments by classical methods. Bayesian approach is done by considering prior distribution, which is obtained by looking likelihood function, and posterior distribution. Data outliers is one of the problem that often occur in the regression model. The existence of data outliers can disturb trial processes and decision-making in research. Furthermore, would be examined on detecting outlier by Bayesian approach. The outlier can be determined by comparing prior and posterior probability which is obtained of data regression, if posterior probability value is greater than prior probability then it called by outlier.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of students’ belief about mathematics related to applied mathematical problems. The purpose-designed survey method was used in this study. There were 24 high school students who were respondents in this study. Each respondent is given access to a google form consisting of 28 statements with a Likert scale response and seven open-ended questions. Finding result were analyzed by carrying out several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, verification and drawing conclusions.  Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that the profile of students' belief about mathematics to be good in terms of believing that mathematics is a science that can be applied to various activities in real life. However, they tend to lack understanding of what is meant by applied mathematical problems, as a result of a lack of confidence in their mathematical abilities. Overall, the learning process carried out by the teacher in the classroom also affects the students’ belief about mathematics profile. This research is expected to provide a broader understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of students in terms of belief about mathematics related to applied mathematical problems.

Mathematics learning based on android applications is an alternative idea that can be a solution to the problems above. This study aims to examine: (1) How is the application of Android-based mathematics learning (2) How is the process of mathematical representation and student responses in the application of Android-based mathematics learning. (3) How to anticipate learning that must be perfected to optimize student representation skills. This research method uses qualitative methods using instruments in the form of teacher observation sheets, student observation sheets, interview sheets and student understanding tests.Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya keterampilan representasi matematis siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa Indonesia pada TIMSS dan PISA masih belum beranjak dari 10  peringkat terbawah. Di dalam pembelajaran matematika, masih ditemukan beberapa kendala diantaranya siswa masih sulit membaca ekspresi matematika, kesalahan prinsip dan prosedur, belum mampu menghubungkan antara satu konsep dengan konsep lainnya serta kesulitan dalam mengkomunikasikan gagasan/ide matematika. Pembelajaran matematika berbasis aplikasi android adalah salah satu gagasan alternatif yang dapat menjadi solusi permasalahan diatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji : (1) Bagaimanakah penerapan pembelajaran matematika berbasis Android(2) Bagaimanakah proses representasi matematis dan respon siswa dalam penerapan pembelajaran matematika berbasis Android. (3) Bagaimana antisipasi pembelajaran yang harus disempurnakan untuk mengoptimalkan keterampilan representasi siswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa lembar observasi guru, lembar observasi siswa, lembar wawancara dan tes pemahaman siswa.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine students 'attitudes or perceptions of mathematics learning, attitudes towards the Application of PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflection, Recite, Review) Learning Strategies, and problem posing mathematical problems. Data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive data analysis, and quantitative analysis was carried out using the Likert scale. The population in this study were Year 11 students in the city of Bandung, and the sample was one of Year 11 Social classroom as the experimental class, selected by purposive sampling. The sample was given treatment using PQ4R learning. The results showed that students taking PQ4R learning had significant attitudes towards mathematics. This can be seen from the high interest and motivation. Student responses to PQ4R learning and questions were also very good. This provides good information about students' attitudes towards learning mathematics in high school so that they can apply good and correct mathematics. Learning mathematics requires an analysis of students' attitudes to feel happy and motivated in learning mathematics on an ongoing basis.
