Abstract

This study examines the effect of compensation on work discipline and teacher performance at MTs Al Azhar Center Baturaja. The research is grounded in the issue of high disciplinary expectations imposed on teachers despite relatively limited financial compensation, which may affect their professional performance and institutional sustainability. The objectives of this study are: (1) to analyze the effect of compensation on teachers’ work discipline, (2) to determine the effect of work discipline on teacher performance, and (3) to examine the direct effect of compensation on teacher performance. This research employed a quantitative approach using a verificative survey design. Data were analyzed through simple linear regression, t-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The findings indicate that compensation has a positive and statistically significant effect on work discipline (t = 10.885; p < 0.05; R² = 0.656). Work discipline also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (t = 8.380; p < 0.05; R² = 0.531). Furthermore, compensation directly and significantly influences teacher performance (t = 5.796; p < 0.05; R² = 0.351). These findings suggest that fair and adequate financial compensation strengthens teachers’ discipline and enhances their pedagogical performance. Therefore, effective compensation management is a strategic factor in improving and sustaining teacher performance in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 demands that Islamic educational institutions effectively manage their service marketing strategies to remain competitive. This study aims to analyze the marketing management of Islamic educational services at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Palembang using descriptive qualitative methods through interviews, observation, and documentation. This study analyzes how the ISMUBA identity is utilized in the marketing management of Islamic educational services as a competitive advantage for the school and its implications for building customer loyalty. The novelty of this research lies in viewing ISMUBA not merely as a unique Islamic curriculum, but as a religious branding instrument that strategically shapes the school's image, strengthens public trust, and encourages loyalty from parents and students. Thus, this study enriches the study of Islamic educational marketing by interpreting religious identity as a values-based marketing strategy

Abstract

This study examines the socialization strategy used in new student recruitment at MTs Negeri 1 Palembang and explores how the strategy can be interpreted through a SWOT framework. A qualitative descriptive design was employed to capture how recruitment-related socialization is planned, implemented, and evaluated in the institutional setting. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the principal, the vice principal for student affairs, the PPDB committee chair, teachers involved in promotion, parents, and prospective students. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while triangulation was used to enhance the trustworthiness of the findings. The results indicate that the madrasah implements socialization through a combination of digital and face-to-face channels, including social media, brochures, school visits, and direct communication with parents and feeder schools. Its key strengths include institutional reputation, qualified human resources, and adequate facilities, whereas its main weaknesses lie in the limited variety of promotional content and the suboptimal use of digital communication. Externally, the institution benefits from growing public interest in Islamic education and wider access to communication technology, but it also faces strong competition from other schools and changing parental expectations. The study concludes that SWOT analysis is useful not only for identifying strategic factors but also for formulating more adaptive, focused, and sustainable socialization strategies for student recruitment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the madrasah management strategies in overcoming the adaptation challenges of transfer students at MI Hijriyah 2 Palembang, to describe the supporting and inhibiting factors of the adaptation process, and to explain the roles of madrasah leadership, teachers, and the school environment in accelerating the students' academic, social, and religious integration. School transfers cause psychological stress, differences in learning cultures, and academic ability gaps that require systematic managerial handling. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the madrasah principal, homeroom teachers, religious education teachers, and transfer students. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the adaptation management strategies for transfer students at MI Hijriyah 2 Palembang are implemented through orientation programs, differentiated learning, individual mentoring, peer support, religious habituation, and consistent institutional coordination. These strategies are able to create a sense of psychological security, increase academic participation, strengthen social integration, and foster the students' religious discipline. The main supporting factors include adaptive madrasah leadership, an inclusive school culture, humanistic teacher involvement, and a safe learning environment. Inhibiting factors encompass differences in students' initial abilities, emotional anxiety, limited teacher mentoring time, and adjustments to the school's religious culture. Overall, structured adaptation management has proven effective in facilitating the transformation of transfer students from a phase of alienation to active involvement in madrasah life

Abstract

Amanah is a central Qur’anic value related to trust, responsibility, justice, and accountability, yet its interpretation in specific tafsir works and its operational relevance for Islamic character education remain underexplored. This study examines the concept of amanah in Tafsir Al-Maraghi and formulates its implications for Islamic character education. This study employed qualitative library research by combining tafsir maudhu‘i, qualitative content analysis, and thematic analysis. Five Qur’anic verses were purposively selected: Q. Al-Baqarah [2]:283, Q. An-Nisāʾ [4]:58, Q. Al-Anfāl [8]:27, Q. Al-Mu’minūn [23]:8, and Q. Al-Aḥzāb [33]:72. The unit of analysis consisted of Qur’anic verses, Al-Maraghi’s exegetical passages, and ethical concepts derived from the interpretation. Data were analyzed through open coding and axial coding to identify major themes. The study found five interrelated dimensions of amanah: entrustment and justice, awareness of betrayal, financial responsibility, fulfillment of promises, and cosmological accountability. In Tafsir Al-Maraghi, amanah is presented as a comprehensive moral obligation involving personal integrity, social responsibility, legal justice, economic honesty, and accountability before God. These findings indicate that amanah can be translated into Islamic character education through learning objectives, Qur’anic-based materials, case-based learning, habituation, reflective practice, assessment rubrics, and school culture. The study contributes a tafsir-based operational framework for integrating amanah into character education, while acknowledging that its practical effectiveness requires further empirical investigation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of muhadharah activities at the Subulussalam Islamic Boarding School in Palembang as a means of developing students’ public speaking and da’wah skills. Muhadharah activities are speech or lecture exercises conducted regularly to enhance students’ courage, self-confidence, and communication skills in public settings. This study was motivated by the ongoing challenges in implementing these activities, such as low self-confidence among students and limited supporting facilities and infrastructure. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the implementation of the muhadharah activities has proceeded in a structured manner through the stages of preparation, execution, and conclusion, supported by clear organization. However, challenges remain, such as time constraints, limited facilities, and the students’ mental readiness. Efforts made to overcome these obstacles include coaching, providing motivation, adjusting schedules, and making optimal use of available facilities.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: This study evaluates the implementation of school financial management within the free school program at Senior High School 3 Palembang using the Stake evaluation model to assess effectiveness, transparency, and accountability in fund management. As education funding is crucial in ensuring equal learning opportunities, examining how financial resources are managed within tuition-free programs is essential for sustainable policy implementation. Despite regulatory guidelines, financial management in free school programs often encounters obstacles in coordination, supervision, and transparency. Methodology: This research adopts a qualitative case study approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and document analysis to gather in-depth insights. The Stake model framework evaluates the program through four dimensions: context, input, process, and product. Main Findings: Findings reveal that while financial management at Senior High School Palembang adheres to procedural standards, significant challenges persist in supervision mechanisms and budget reporting. Inefficiencies in fund allocation and monitoring impact the program’s effectiveness, highlighting the need for improved financial literacy among administrators and enhanced accountability measures. Novelty/Originality of the Study: The novelty of this study lies in its application of the Stake model to assess financial governance in free school programs, a relatively unexplored area in education management research. By providing a localized evaluation, this study enriches existing literature and offers practical recommendations for policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders. Strengthening financial transparency and accountability is crucial to ensuring that free education programs fulfill their intended objectives, fostering equitable access to quality education while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of gender-based transformational leadership of the madrasah principal at MAN Insan Cendekia OKI, examine the perceptions of male and female teachers, and identify the challenges and its impact on teacher performance and the school work climate. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings indicate that the principal’s leadership is implemented in a participatory, collaborative, and inclusive manner by providing equal opportunities for teachers without gender bias. Teachers’ perceptions are generally positive, although differences emerge between relational and structural emphases. The challenges include gender stereotypes, adaptation to participatory leadership patterns, and differing understandings of gender equality. The implementation of this leadership approach contributes to improved teacher motivation and performance, as well as the creation of an inclusive and conducive work climate. This study contributes to the development of Islamic educational management by offering a contextual and applicable perspective on gender-based transformational leadership.
