Abstract

Monotonous, less innovative, and less diverse learning media make students less interested in learning, resulting in a lack of media that can help in understanding the material. This study examines the effectiveness of spinner media and interactive powerpoint learning outcomes for Pancasila Education in grade III Elementary Schools. This type of research is experimental research with a quasi-experimental design. The experimental design is a nonequivalent control group design. The study population was 56 students. The research sampling technique was purposive sampling. Class III B was the experimental class, and Class III A was the control class. Data collection techniques were in the form of test techniques (pretest and posttest). Non-test techniques were observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Initial data analysis techniques included normality and homogeneity, and final data analysis used t-test and N-Gain. The t-test results obtained a significance value of 0.000 (sig. (2-tailed) <0.05), so H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. The N-Gain test results for the experimental class were 77.44%; they were effective, and the control class was 45.63%; they were less effective. In conclusion, learning using interactive spinner media and PowerPoint is effective. It has a higher average increase compared to learning without spinner media and interactive PowerPoint models on the learning outcomes of third-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Oil palm leaves could yield various health benefits, potentially leading to innovative applications in natural remedies, supplements, and dietary products. Targeted extraction and sophisticated analytical methods have become necessary for investigating bioactive compounds in plant materials. The combination of liquid chromatography and high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC–HRMS) makes for a potent technique for analyzing a wide range of metabolites, allowing for the precise and sensitive identification of various plant compounds. This investigation aimed to examine the active compounds in the ethyl acetate fraction of Elaeis guineensis leaves using LC–HRMS to identify potential new avenues for drug research. The simplicia was extracted by completely immersing 500 g of granules in acetone for three days. The crude extract was fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol solvents to separate components according to their polarity. The ethyl acetate part was analyzed using LC–HRMS with specific settings, including a temperature of 30°C and a gas flow rate of 11.01 L/min. The extract yield from dense oil palm leaves was 32.5 g, equivalent to 6.5%. Subsequently, the components were separated by fractionating the complete yield. The n-hexane fraction yield was 7.085 g or 21.83%, the ethyl acetate fraction yield was 3.38 g or 10.4%, the n-butanol fraction yield was 8.84 g or 27.2%, and the remaining fraction yield was 3.93 g or 12.1%. In conclusion, oil palm leaves are a prospective source of zingerol compounds, suggesting potential to be used as an alternative to rhizomes.

Abstract

The present study investigates the stimulant and hematological effects of combined beetroot (Beta vulgaris L.) and apple (Malus pumila Mill.) juice on the physical endurance and hemoglobin (Hb) levels of Sprague Dawley rats. Adequate Hb concentration plays a critical role in oxygen transport and energy metabolism during physical activity. Thus, natural stimulant sources rich in bioactive compounds were evaluated as potential alternatives to synthetic energy supplements. Twenty-five male rats were divided into five treatment groups (n = 5): three groups receiving different ratios of beetroot and apple juice (1:1, 2:1, and 1:2), a negative control (CMC-Na 0.5%), and a positive control (caffeine 20 mg/200 g body weight). Stimulant activity was assessed using a rotarod endurance test, while Hb levels were measured by the Sahli method using a hemometer. The results demonstrated that the combined beetroot and apple juice significantly enhanced both endurance duration and hemoglobin concentration compared to the negative control (p 0.05). The optimal stimulant and hematopoietic effects were observed in the 2:1 beetroot-to-apple ratio, corresponding to doses of 5.6 g and 0.63 g per 200 g body weight, respectively. This combination yielded prolonged rotarod retention time and elevated Hb levels up to 18.5 g/dL, exceeding baseline and control values. The observed enhancement is attributed to the synergistic effects of bioactive constituents such as iron, potassium, flavonoids, and vitamin C, which facilitate oxygen transport, neuromuscular coordination, and erythropoiesis. These findings indicate that beetroot–apple juice exerts a physiological stimulant effect while improving hematological parameters without the adverse effects commonly associated with synthetic caffeine-based stimulants. This study highlights the potential of functional plant-based beverages as safe natural ergogenic aids for improving endurance and blood health.

Abstract

Natural disasters are one of the most common problems in Indonesia. According to Data Informasi Bencana Indonesia (DIBI) from 2020 to 2024, East Java Province ranks third in terms of the frequency of natural disasters on the island of Java. Systematic mapping of disaster-prone areas is essential to support more effective mitigation and management efforts. This study aims to group 38 districts/cities in East Java Province based on their vulnerability to natural disasters. The methods used are Fuzzy C-Means for the grouping process and Silhouette Coefficient as a tool for evaluating cluster quality. The data used is secondary data with indicators of the number of incidents, number of victims, and amount of damage caused by floods, landslides, extreme weather, drought, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and forest and land fires. The clustering results produced three clusters, namely areas with high, medium, and low vulnerability levels. The clustering results were evaluated using the Silhouette Coefficient with a value of 0.2807, which indicates that the clustering results are in the fairly good category and indicate limitations in cluster separation due to the use of limited indicators and overlapping characteristics between regions. Nevertheless, the results of this study can contribute as a basis for consideration in the formulation of disaster mitigation policies, especially in determining intervention priorities and strengthening preparedness in areas with high disaster vulnerability.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the factors influencing neck pain complaints among garment convection tailors in Medan City. A total of 44 tailors from a convection workshop on Jl. Denai were included as the study's population and sample, utilizing a total sampling technique. The research employed a cross-sectional analytical survey design with data analysis using the Chi-Square test. The findings from the bivariate analysis showed a significant association between neck pain complaints and three key factors: years of service (p=0.021), work duration (p=0.044), and work posture (p=0.000). Specifically, a higher percentage of severe neck pain was found in workers with fewer years of service and longer work durations (more than 8 hours a day). The analysis also revealed that age (p=0.717) and lighting (p=0.062) were not statistically significant factors. A subsequent multivariate analysis identified work posture and work duration as independent factors influencing neck pain, with work posture being the most dominant variable (p=0.000). The multivariate analysis for work posture had an odds ratio of 64.346, indicating a strong positive correlation with severe neck pain. However, a contradictory result for work duration in the multivariate analysis suggested a need for re-examination of its coding. The study concludes that workload, work duration, and working posture are the primary factors influencing neck pain complaints in convection tailors, with work posture being the most dominant. These findings highlight the importance of ergonomic interventions, proper posture, and regulated work hours to mitigate occupational health risks in this population.
