Abstract

Water is essential for human life, yet several regions in Central Kalimantan face difficulties in accessing clean water and rely on peat water for daily needs. Peat water is generally unsuitable for drinking and sanitation purposes due to its poor quality. Its usage can lead to various health issues, such as digestive disorders skin diseases, tooth damage, and severe risks of heavy metal poisoning. One effective method to improve the quality of peat water is electrocoagulation. This study aims to investigate the effect of electrode variations using Al and Fe in treating peat water. Peat water samples were collected from Sebangau District, Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, in June 2024. The study analyzed water quality parameters, including TDS, pH, turbidity, color, COD, and dissolved Fe. The results showed that electrocoagulation increased pH to near-neutral levels and reduced turbidity, color, COD, and dissolved Fe, except for the Fe-Fe electrode combination, which caused an increase in TDS, color, and dissolved Fe. The Al-Al electrode combination proved to be the most effective in improving peat water quality.

Abstract

This study addresses the complex social challenges of the Society 5.0 era, such as inequality and the crisis of trust, by examining the role of local wisdom in maintaining global cohesion. Focusing on the Indonesian context, the research explores the thought of K.H.R. As‘ad Syamsul Arifin in Tarikh Perjuangan Islam Indonesia, specifically his interpretation of the Wali Songo’s culture-based da‘wah strategies. The objective is to identify character traits and social harmony strategies relevant to building an inclusive modern civilization. Utilizing Hans-Georg Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics, the study analyzes the text within its historical and cultural horizons, supported by data triangulation with literature on Nusantara Sufism and Islamic education. Findings indicate that the Wali Songo integrated spiritual depth—marked by wara‘ and tawadhu‘—with socio-political competence, enabling an adaptive and peaceful expansion of Islam. Their harmony strategies included moral exemplarity, collective deliberation, and the establishment of pesantren as centers for community building. The study concludes that revitalizing these Sufi values and the da‘wah bil-irsyad model serves as a vital bridge between local wisdom and global harmony, offering a sustainable, inclusive framework for navigating the sociocultural tensions of the contemporary era.

Abstract

The changing times require teachers to be more creative in creating learning that is not monotonous in order to increase student motivation and participation. This research aims to explain the meaning of learning variation and its role in building an active and interesting classroom atmosphere, identify variation skills such as teaching style, media, and interaction, and analyze the principles of their use. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, where data is collected through document analysis from relevant books and journals. This research synthesizes contemporary pedagogical innovations, including AI integration and play-based strategies, to provide a comprehensive framework for creative teaching in the post-pandemic era. The results show that learning variations have a significant influence in overcoming learning boredom, improving understanding, and adjusting the learning process to students' diverse learning styles. Teachers who are able to creatively combine methods, media, and interactions prove more successful in creating a dynamic and meaningful learning atmosphere. In conclusion, learning variation is not only a teaching strategy, but also the key to creating a classroom that is inclusive, adaptive and supports the development of 21st century skills in students.

Abstract

The regulation of village head elections in Indonesia reflects the state’s effort to balance democratic participation with administrative efficiency at the local level. However, a legal gap arises when restrictions on the number of village head candidates are implemented through derivative regional regulations, raising questions about their compatibility with democratic principles and the constitutional guarantee of political rights. This study aims to examine whether the limitation of village head candidates in Bangkalan Regency is consistent with the concept of democracy and to assess the implications of the additional selection mechanism based on a scoring system. This research employs a normative legal research method using a statute approach and a conceptual approach by analyzing constitutional provisions, statutory regulations, ministerial regulations, and regent regulations related to village head elections. The findings reveal that the restriction of candidates is legally valid from an administrative perspective, as it is justified by considerations of effectiveness, efficiency, budgetary limitations, and the need to prevent social conflict in simultaneous village head elections. Nevertheless, from a democratic perspective, such restrictions present a normative dilemma, as they have the potential to reduce the quality of political participation and undermine the principle of political equality, particularly for prospective candidates who lack access to adequate information or resources. The use of a scoring system in additional selection further intensifies this issue by introducing subjective and uneven assessment criteria that may disadvantage certain segments of society. This study contributes to legal scholarship by demonstrating that while administrative efficiency is an important objective, it should not override fundamental democratic values. The research underscores the need for transparent, accountable, and participatory regulatory designs to ensure that local election governance upholds both administrative effectiveness and the protection of citizens’ civil and political rights within Indonesia’s democratic framework.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of ecosystem concepts, improve practical skills, and technological literacy of students at SMA Negeri 2 Kahayan Tengah through socialization and training in making environmentally-based terrariums innovated by Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The implementation method includes preparation, training, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation involving 25 students and 5 teachers. Data was obtained through activity documentation, pre-post tests and student response questionnaires. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in student knowledge with an average pre-test score of 50.83 increasing to 82.40 in the post-test, achieving an N-Gain of 0.61 categorized as medium. Student responses were also highly positive, with 85% rating the activity as engaging, 82% reporting increased environmental awareness, 75% feeling more motivated to learn science, and 80% considering the program relevant to the Merdeka Curriculum. The terrarium products created by students reflected creativity and potential to be further developed as both innovative learning media and marketable products. This program contributes to the implementation of the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) while introducing IoT applications as an innovation in environment-based education.

Abstract

Background: Scabies is a contagious skin disease that is a public health problem, especially in environments with poor sanitation and high population density. The condition can be more complex in pediatric patients with comorbidities and significant environmental risk factors. Objective: This case report aims to describe the management of scabies in a 1-year and 7-month-old child with a history of tuberculosis and severe short stature, using a holistic family medicine approach. Method: This study is a case report. Data were obtained through heteroanamnesis with the mother, physical examination, and home visits. A comprehensive assessment was conducted using a holistic diagnosis (five axes), family assessment tools (Genogram, Family APGAR, SCREEM), and the Mandala of Health framework. Results: The patient was diagnosed with scabies (ICD-10 B86) and severe short stature (severely stunted). Significant risk factors identified included a crowded living environment in an extended family, poor housing conditions with inadequate ventilation and sunlight, low socioeconomic status, and exposure to passive smoking from three family members. Comprehensive management included pharmacotherapy (Permethrin 5% cream and Cetirizine syrup) and non-pharmacological interventions focused on the patient, family, and community, including simultaneous treatment for all family members and education on environmental hygiene. Follow-up during home visits showed significant clinical improvement. Conclusion: A holistic and comprehensive family medicine approach that addresses biomedical, individual, family, and environmental factors is essential for the effective management of scabies in vulnerable pediatric patients with complex health and social issues.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the relationship between economic growth and inflation in 90 Indonesian cities during the period 2018–2022 using the GMM estimator with Windmeijer - Sigmund robust standard errors. The author’s findings reveal that the two-way relationship between the two is that economic growth has a significant positif effect on inflation, while inflation has a negatif but insignificant effect. Through the results of this study, policymakers and stakeholders can consider priority objectives, namely achieving economic growth targets compared to inflation problems during the COVID-19 crisis and economic development during the future economic recovery.
