Abstract

Rapid developments in information technology have increased dependence on network services, but have also triggered an increase in cyber threats such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). These attacks can paralyze systems by flooding servers with simultaneous fake traffic. Conventional rule-based detection methods are now less effective in dealing with dynamic attack patterns, requiring an adaptive approach based on machine learning. This research develops a Support Vector Machine (SVM) model enhanced with Blockchain technology to improve accuracy and data security in detecting DDoS attacks. The dataset used is CICDDoS2023 from the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity, which contains various variants of modern DDoS attacks. The research stages include data pre-processing, training the SVM model using the RBF kernel, and integrating Blockchain with training data hash recording through a smart contract using Remix Ethereum to ensure data integrity. Performance evaluation was carried out using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics based on the confusion matrix results. The integration of SVM and Blockchain showed an increase in security and detection accuracy compared to conventional SVM models. This approach not only improves the reliability of the DDoS attack detection system, but also creates a transparent and tamper-proof data validation mechanism. The research results are expected to contribute to the development of adaptive, decentralized network security systems with a high level of confidence in attack detection results.

Abstract

Background: This study is motivated by a gap in the literature concerning the absence of a comprehensive mapping of the integration of Piaget’s, Bruner’s, and Vygotsky’s cognitive development theories in play-based mathematics learning in early childhood education (ECE), particularly regarding the proportion of their implementation in classroom practices. Objective: This study aims to analyze the implementation patterns of the three cognitive development theories and to construct a new conceptual mapping regarding the balance between concrete exploration, representation, and social interaction in early childhood numeracy learning. Method: The study employed a systematic literature review of 20 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025, complemented by field observations conducted in several kindergarten institutions in Bantul. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify dominant patterns and theoretical orientations. Result: The findings indicate that Vygotsky’s theory has the highest level of implementation (85%), followed by Piaget’s theory (80%) and Bruner’s theory (65%). This imbalance reflects a strong dominance of social-interactive approaches over representational approaches in play-based mathematics learning. Conclusion: In conclusion, early childhood numeracy instruction still requires stronger emphasis on representational aspects to ensure a more balanced and optimal integration of Piaget’s, Bruner’s, and Vygotsky’s cognitive development theories in play-based learning contexts.

Abstract

Mastery motivation is an internal drive to master challenging tasks and achieve competence. In the context of early childhood teachers in Indonesia, studies on this topic remain limited. This research aims to explore the level of mastery motivation among kindergarten teachers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and identify the factors that influence it. A qualitative, exploratory approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis with 15 teachers representing the five districts in Yogyakarta. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns of meaning and characteristics of mastery motivation. The findings reveal three levels of mastery motivation high, moderate, and low with most teachers falling within the moderate to high categories. Teachers with high motivation demonstrated strong learning orientation, persistence, and innovative behaviors in improving teaching practices. Meanwhile, moderate motivation tended to fluctuate, influenced by administrative burdens, limited time, and work demands. These findings highlight that mastery motivation is multidimensional and shaped by individual, social, and institutional factors. This study is expected to broaden understanding of professional motivation among early childhood teachers, provide empirical foundations for educational policies and sustainable teacher competency development programs, and open opportunities for further, more in-depth research

Abstract

EXPLORING ETHICAL VALUES, MORALITY, AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN ISLAMIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS Islamic education holds a highly strategic position in shaping students’ character, particularly through the internalization of fundamental values that encompass ethics, morality, and social responsibility. This strategic role is evident in its ability to guide learners not only toward cognitive competence but also toward moral and spiritual development, which serves as the foundation of a holistic personality. In this context, this article seeks to comprehensively examine the value foundations in Islamic education, including the normative principles that guide character formation. The discussion also focuses on how these values are implemented in the formal curriculum and within the educational environment through learning processes, habitual practices, and the exemplary conduct of educators which together function as a medium for value internalization. This article further analyzes the relevance of instilling ethical, moral, and social responsibility values in forming a generation that possesses not only intellectual intelligence but also noble character, integrity, and social awareness. Findings from the analysis indicate that integrating Islamic values into all aspects of educational implementation from curriculum planning and execution to the model provided by educators and the development of a religious and ethical institutional culture significantly contributes to the creation of insan kamil, individuals who embody a balance of intellectual, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. Moreover, this article strengthens its scholarly arguments by drawing on empirical references from various indexed journals published within the last five years. As a result, the analysis presented is not only grounded in strong theoretical foundations but is also validated by contemporary research findings relevant to the current developments in Islamic education.

Abstract

Project-based assessment (PBA) is often highlighted as a more authentic, engaging, practical, and student-centered approach compared to traditional exams. However, despite its growing use, there is limited and unified understanding of how students actually experience PBA across different educational levels and learning contexts. This gap in the literature is crucial, as student experiences are central to determining the effectiveness and inclusiveness of assessment practices in diverse classroom settings. It is crucial to understand how students experience PBA to ensure that this assessment approach fulfills its potential of meaningful, equitable, and effective learning. This article aims to systematically review empirical studies that explore students’ experiences with PBA, focusing on how these experiences vary across primary, secondary, and tertiary education as well as cultural and institutional contexts. The study is grounded in qualitative data drawn from published research articles, analyzed using thematic synthesis under the PRISMA framework. Inclusion criteria targeted peer-reviewed studies that foreground student voices and were published within the last 10 years. Findings indicate a combination of positive experiences, such as increased engagement, collaboration, and real-world skill development, alongside persistent challenges, including perceived workload imbalance and unclear assessment criteria. The review underscores the significance of adapting PBA to specific contexts and advises that future research systematically include student perspectives to refine assessment methods better and promote fairness. Implications of these findings for practice for educators and policy makers are that more nuanced and responsive assessment strategies have the potential to improve inclusiveness and instruction. Future research should also look into how school support, teacher support, and cultural contexts influence the efficacy of PBA interventions.
