Abstract

Visionary leadership of school principals plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of education through strategic vision, teacher supervision, instructional innovation, and collaboration among all stakeholders to create a favourable school climate. This study aims to analyze the role of visionary leadership in improving educational quality and to develop an effective contextual leadership model for the first secondary school, Muhammadiyah Payakumbuh. The research employed a qualitative case study approach, utilizing data collection techniques including semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed iteratively through data reduction, presentation, and concluding. Data validation was conducted through the triangulation of sources, methods, and time to ensure the consistency and accuracy of the findings. Results indicate that the principal has formulated a clear educational vision and begun its implementation through programs to improve learning, strengthen character development, and enhance teacher capacity. Visionary leadership is characterised in collaborative strategies, effective stakeholder engagement, and seamless technology integration. Positive impacts are evident in improved student learning outcomes and increased parental satisfaction. However, challenges such as limited budget, teacher resistance, and infrastructure constraints remain obstacles. This study highlights the importance of visionary leadership, stakeholder support, and continuous training in achieving sustainable educational quality in resource-limited schools. In conclusion, visionary leadership is essential for improving educational quality, but its success heavily depends on the collective support of all stakeholders.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the transformative–participatory research (TPR) model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) across three institutional contexts: pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), madrasah, and Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI). The research is grounded in the awareness that conventional methodological approaches in Islamic education research often remain normative and descriptive, failing to address the complex social, cultural, and spiritual realities of Muslim communities. Using a qualitative approach through conceptual and critical literature analysis, this study explores the philosophical and epistemological foundations of the TPR model, which emphasizes social transformation, tawhīdic consciousness, and community participation in educational processes. The findings reveal that the application of TPR in pesantren revitalizes the traditional talaqqī method into a dialogical and collaborative praxis; in madrasah, it shifts pedagogy from a teacher-centered to a student- and community-centeredparadigm; while in PTKI, it fosters a reflective and socially engaged research culture. Theoretically, the TPR model enriches the epistemology of Islamic education by integrating faith, knowledge, and action; practically, it strengthens Islamic education as a medium of empowerment and civilizational development. Therefore, transformative–participatory research can be viewed as a new paradigm reaffirming the Islamic scientific identity amid the dynamics of modernity and global social challenges.

Abstract

Teachers in inclusive schools have diverse and complex responsibilities, necessitating a high level of hardiness to cope with pressure and stress. Teacher efficacy is a crucial factor that helps them face these challenges. This study aims to determine the relationship between teacher efficacy and hardiness among teachers in inclusive schools at the Yayasan Inspirasi Pembelajar in Bukittinggi. This research employs a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The analysis technique used is Pearson Product Moment. The sample consists of all teachers in inclusive schools at the Yayasan Inspirasi Pembelajar in Bukittinggi, totaling 54 individuals, obtained through total population sampling. Data collection was conducted using the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale and the Dispositional Resilience Scale: A Short Hardiness Scale. The results indicate a significant relationship between teacher efficacy and hardiness among inclusive school teachers. The correlation analysis shows a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.322 with a significance value (p) of 0.018 (p < 0.05). This means that the higher the level of teacher efficacy, the higher the level of hardiness they possess. These findings suggest that enhancing teacher efficacy can contribute to increasing teacher hardiness, helping them manage stress in inclusive school teaching. Therefore, it is crucial for educational institutions to provide training and support to improve teacher efficacy and thus strengthen teacher resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to present a comprehensive synthesis of four major qualitative research approaches narrative inquiry, phenomenology, grounded theory, and Islamic research design as a multidimensional framework for studying phenomena in Islamic education. Narrative inquiry emphasizes the reconstruction of life stories as sources of meaning; phenomenology seeks to uncover the essence of participants’ lived experiences; grounded theory systematically generates concepts or theories emerging from empirical data; while Islamic research design integrates contemporary qualitative strategies with Islamic epistemology, ethics, and values. The analysis demonstrates that each approach offers distinctive strengths yet remains compatible for integrative use. Narrative inquiry supports studies requiring an exploration of individual life trajectories, phenomenology is suitable for examining spiritual and religious experiences in depth, grounded theory is relevant for developing contextually rooted theoretical constructs, and Islamic research design ensures that the research process aligns with Islamic ethical and epistemological foundations. Taken together, these approaches form a multidimensional qualitative model that enriches methodological discourse in Islamic studies and promotes research practices that are both contextually grounded and aligned with the needs of contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

The rapid integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in English Language Teaching (ELT) highlights the necessity for instructional media that are contextually relevant to diverse educational settings, including Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). This study aims to systematically review existing empirical research focusing on the design and implementation of ICT-based instructional media for ELT in pesantren environments, particularly those adopting instructional frameworks such as ADDIE and TPACK. A systematic literature review method was employed following the PRISMA protocol, examining 25 SINTA 4 indexed articles published between 2019–2025. Data extraction and thematic analysis were conducted to categorize findings based on types of media developed, pedagogical frameworks applied, student learning outcomes, and contextual challenges encountered in pesantren settings. The results reveal that most studies successfully implemented ICT-based media such as mobile learning applications, digital games, and multimedia modules, which demonstrated positive impacts on students’ English proficiency, motivation, and autonomous learning. However, challenges remain, including limited digital infrastructure, teacher ICT competence, and the need for alignment between technological tools and Islamic cultural values. This review suggests that future research should enhance technology acceptance models among pesantren educators and strengthen ICT professional development to optimize ELT innovation in Islamic boarding schools. The study contributes both theoretically and practically by providing updated insights and identifying research gaps in ICT-based media design within pesantren contexts.
