Abstract

High-order thinking skills (HOTS) are important skills that need to be developed early on. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model as an active learning approach has the potential to improve students' HOTS by involving them in solving real-world problems. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and curiosity in improving high-order thinking skills (HOTS) of fifth-grade elementary school students, as well as to analyze the interaction of the two variables in supporting the development of students' cognitive skills. The research method applied is an experimental study with a 2 x 2 factorial design, involving two independent variables, namely the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and curiosity, and one dependent variable, namely high-order thinking skills (HOTS). The sample used in this study was 68 fifth-grade students from two elementary schools in Jakarta who were randomly selected using the cluster random sampling technique. The data collection techniques used were through HOTS ability tests, curiosity questionnaires, and observations of the learning process. Data analysis was carried out using a two-way ANOVA test to identify the influence and interaction between variables. In conclusion, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is effective to be applied in learning to improve students' HOTS, especially if supported by a high sense of curiosity. This approach can create a more meaningful and relevant learning environment, and become one of the innovative strategies in efforts to improve the quality of learning at the elementary school.

Abstract

In the face of increasingly complex challenges in modern life, there is a pressing need to integrate Islamic wisdom (hikmah) with the principles of positive psychology to achieve holistic well-being. Wisdom, as the capacity to comprehend and apply knowledge meaningfully, is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings. Concurrently, positive psychology emphasizes the cultivation of individual strengths and potential to promote psychological flourishing. This study aims to explore the intersections between hikmah as derived from the Qur’an and Hadith and the foundational tenets of positive psychology in promoting mental health, resilience, and life satisfaction as components of holistic well-being. A qualitative literature review was conducted using a meta-ethnographic synthesis approach. This method facilitates the integration of findings from multiple qualitative studies to generate new theoretical insights into a specific phenomenon. It is particularly suitable for research that investigates subjective experiences, perceptions, and behaviors in depth, with the potential to inform both theoretical development and practical applications. The literature search was conducted through major academic databases, including Google Scholar, SpringerLink, PubMed, and Cambridge University Press. Search terms included “wisdom,” “Islam,” “positive psychology,” and “well-being.” Inclusion criteria encompassed peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2024 in either English or Indonesian. A total of eight relevant articles were selected for synthesis. The findings highlight a strong association between religiosity and social support with wisdom. Wisdom, in turn, exerts a positive influence on psychological well-being. Furthermore, religiosity and social support contribute indirectly to psychological well-being through the mediating role of wisdom. Positive psychology interventions were found to enhance wisdom, resilience, and cognitive flexibility. Additionally, spiritual and health-promoting behaviors were positively correlated with psychological well-being, with health-related behaviors serving as mediators. Wisdom was identified as a significant predictor of subjective well-being, particularly in later life stages. While spirituality supports mental health, its contribution to wisdom appears to be less pronounced compared to prosocial behavior and self-regulation. Interventions rooted in Islamic values have shown potential in improving psychological well-being, and multicomponent positive psychology programs have demonstrated efficacy in both enhancing well-being and alleviating depressive symptoms. Overall, wisdom and religiosity are positively associated with subjective well-being, with mastery and life purpose serving as mediating variables.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines digital technology-based policy approaches to enhance the quality and access of primary education in developing countries, a critical issue given the persistent disparities in educational equity and the urgent need for inclusive solutions. Despite the transformative potential of digital technologies, their implementation often fails due to infrastructure deficits, low teacher digital literacy, and contextual barriers. Analyzing 40 peer-reviewed articles (2019–2024), the study reveals a stark policy-implementation gap: while 68% of national policies prioritize infrastructure (e.g., internet connectivity), 70% of local challenges stem from infrastructure gaps and 65% from low teacher readiness. Successful cases, such as China's 85% school digitalization rate, underscore the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration and balanced budgeting (e.g., 30% infrastructure, 40% teacher training). However, rural areas lag significantly, with only 15% adoption in Albania due to electricity shortages. The findings highlight the limitations of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in addressing contextual challenges such as teacher technophobia (40%) and curriculum misalignment (55%). The study's implications are vital for policymakers: (1) adaptive policies must balance infrastructure investment with human capacity building; (2) hybrid learning models can bridge urban-rural divides, as proven by blended learning's 30–50% participation increase in remote areas; and (3) localized strategies, including culturally responsive teacher training, are essential for equitable adoption. The urban-centric data bias (80%) and pandemic-era context further necessitate longitudinal research in low-resource settings. By advocating for holistic frameworks that integrate infrastructure, pedagogy, and inclusive governance, this review provides a roadmap for sustainable digital education transformation in developing nations

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Human Resources Management Practices and Knowledge Management on Employee Performance with Employee Development as a mediating variable at PT XYZ in Jakarta. The method used is quantitative research with Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. Data were collected from 50 respondents who are permanent employees of the company. The results of the study indicate that Human Resources Management Practices do not have a significant effect on Employee Development, while Knowledge Management has a positive and significant effect on Employee Development. Furthermore, Human Resources Management Practices and Knowledge Management have a significant effect on Employee Performance, while Employee Development does not have a significant effect on Employee Performance. Mediation analysis shows that Employee Development is not able to be a significant mediating variable in the relationship between Human Resources Management Practices and Knowledge Management on Employee Performance. This finding indicates that human resource management practices and knowledge management have an important role in improving employee performance, but employee development does not always have a direct impact on improving performance. Therefore, companies need to optimize employee development strategies to be more effective in improving individual performance.   Keywords: Human Resources Management Practices, Knowledge Management

Abstract

This study aims to explain the influence of leadership style on well-being or psychological comfort for hotel employees during the pandemic season through human resource management practices and change management as mediation in a structural equation model (Structural Equation Modelling). The research method used a survey of 137 hotel employees in 46 star hotels in South Kalimantan. Each hotel was represented by 2 or 3 people who had worked for more than 2 years. Using multivariate analysis techniques, SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) was used to measure the relationship between variables and the model. Results showed that transformational leadership had a positive effect on employee well-being, but it will be even better if it is mediated by wise HRM practices and participatory change management. The research implication was that hotel managers must help their employees stay calm, comfortable at work and motivated at work even though they are facing the COVID-19 pandemic. Originality: This study first combined the influence of leadership variables on well-being through HRM practices and change management.
