Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between emotional regulation, social support, and resilience among mothers of toddlers with stunting status. Mothers facing this condition often encounter high psychological pressure due to the complexities of care and concerns regarding their child's health. The research was conducted on a finite population with a sample of 40 mothers of stunted toddlers. Measurement instruments included the Resilience Questionnaire Test (RQ-TEST), the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), and the Social Support Scale (SSS), analyzed using Spearman's rho correlation analysis. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between emotional regulation and resilience (rho = 0.350, p < 0.05). Higher emotional regulation was associated with higher resilience among mothers. The study also found a significant positive relationship between social support and resilience (rho = 0.517, p < 0.05). Greater social support was linked to higher levels of resilience in mothers. However, the study has limitations due to the small sample size and potential response bias in data collection methods. Future research is recommended to expand the sample and use more varied data collection methods to enhance the validity of the results. The implications of this study suggest that interventions to improve emotional regulation and social support could effectively enhance the resilience of parents in facing the challenges of caring for toddlers with stunting status, potentially yielding significant positive impacts on the well-being of affected families.

Abstract

Introduction: Lung cancer is characterized by high mortality rates and poor prognosis, further requiring alternative therapies owing to the adverse effects of conventional chemotherapy. Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) has antimicrobial, antiproliferative, and antioxidant properties and can cure cancer. Method: Compounds from rambutan peel were identified through PubChem and analyzed for physicochemical properties using SwissADME. Target proteins were identified using SuperPred and compared with lung cancer–related proteins from GeneCards via Venny. Protein interactions were examined and visualized using STRING and Cytoscape, respectively. Protein activity was analyzed using WebGestalt, and docking simulations were performed using Autodock 4.2.6. Result: Physicochemical analysis of 10 active rambutan compounds via SwissADME showed favorable properties based on Lipinski’s rule, suggesting good oral bioavailability. In total, 276 specific target proteins were related to lung cancer. Cytoscape visualized the 53 core proteins implicated in lung cancer. Gene ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses indicated that rambutan compounds are active in lung cancer pathways, particularly nonsmall cell lung cancer. The analysis identified the top 10 interacting proteins STAT3 and CASP3 had the highest interaction value of 28, followed by PIK3CA and NFKB1 at 22, MAPK3, PIK3R1, PTGS2, GRB2, MAPK1, and CASP8. Per docking simulations, 1,2-diphenylethane-1-ol was the highest affinity to STAT3 (−4.78) and CASP3 (−6.75). Conclusion: Rambutan peel compounds have remarkable anticancer potential, particularly with high affinity for STAT3 and CASP3 proteins, based on in silico molecular docking studies.

Abstract

Banda Naira is the sub-district capital in Central Maluku Province which has many colonial buildings, such as residential areas, ancient temples, old churches, ancient mosques, mini palaces, and fortresses. However, recent research shows the problem of differences in perceptions among the public, government, and private communities in an effort to preserve Banda's historical heritage, so that Banda's development programs as a tourism destination tend to ignore its historical aspects that risk threatening the preservation of the Banda archipelago heritage itself. This study aims to show several models of Banda Naira historical heritage preservation, by involving direct interview methods through qualitative analysis. There are two methods of historical heritage development proposed; first, collaborative methods, or conservation that are focused on the role of stakeholders, namely; Dispar (tourism office) Maluku province and Central Maluku district, Banda residents, historians, and tourists. Second, the method of digitizing cultural heritage, namely preservation by involving archaeologists, historians, IT experts, and local communities based on interactive website information  technology to jointly contribute to preserving colonial historical heritage in Banda Naira. These two conservation methods are important because they complement each other's weaknesses, and are more appropriate for tourism development in the Banda Naira archipelago as historical tourism destinations.

Abstract

Introduction: The high prevalence of smoking among Madurese adolescents reflects a complex public health challenge. This study aims to analyze the influence of social capital and elements of the Theory of Planned Behavior on smoking cessation intentions among Madurese adolescents within their local cultural context. Methods: A cross-sectional path analysis was conducted with 200 adolescents aged 15–19 years in Sumenep, Madura, using a structured questionnaire to measure attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and smoking cessation intention. Social capital was assessed through three dimensions: trust, social networks, and reciprocity norms, within the context of adolescents' relationships with family, peers, and the broader community. Results: The findings reveal that strong social support from family and peers significantly influences adolescents' intentions to quit smoking, strengthening the effectiveness of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) factors in driving positive behavioral change. Path analysis showed that the intention to quit smoking had a direct and significant effect on actual smoking cessation behavior (? = 1.56; p < 0.001). Attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control demonstrated indirect effects through intention. Adolescents with high perceived behavioral control and positive attitudes toward quitting were more likely to succeed in cessation efforts. Conclusion: These results emphasize the importance of social capital in anti-smoking interventions, especially in culturally cohesive societies such as Madura. Future interventions should leverage community and family-based support systems to enhance smoking cessation efforts among adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy-related anxiety can affect both the experience and length of labor. Self-efficacy, defined as an individual’s belief in their ability to perform the behaviors required to achieve desired outcomes, plays a vital role in managing this anxiety. The Family Bundle Birthing Care (FBBC) approach, which actively involves the mother and her family especially the husband is believed to help lower anxiety levels and strengthen the pregnant woman’s self-efficacy. This study aims to assess the effect of the FBBC approach on reducing anxiety and enhancing self-efficacy among pregnant women. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was employed with intervention and control groups, each consisting of 50 pregnant women. Data was collected using the childbirth education (W-DEQ-A), (W-DEQ-B), childbirth self-efficacy (CBSEI), and birth confidence (BCSQ) questionnaires to assess anxiety and self-efficacy. Data analysis was conducted using the fisher exact test and independent t-tests. Results: The results indicated that the intervention group had significantly lower average scores on the W-DEQ-A and W-DEQ-B, and higher scores on the CBSEI and BCSQ questionnaires compared to the control group. The differences were statistically significant, with p-values of 0.001, 0.01, 0.02, and 0.01, respectively, suggesting that the family-based antenatal education program was effective in reducing anxiety and enhancing self-efficacy among pregnant women. Conclusion: The FBBC program proved effective in reducing anxiety and enhancing self-efficacy in pregnant women. This approach could serve as an alternative method to improve mental preparedness and psychological support for expectant mothers as they approach labor.

Abstract

Lung diseases induced by environmental exposures such as air pollution, cigarette smoke, and industrial particles remain a significant global health concern, contributing to high morbidity and mortality rates. Genetic variations are known to influence individual responses to environmental exposures, but the molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions are not well understood. This study aims to identify genetic variants, specifically Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), that may increase the risk of lung diseases using a bioinformatics approach. The analysis was conducted by integrating various public genetic databases, including PheWAS, GWAS Catalog, HaploReg v4.2, GTEx Portal, and Ensembl Genome Browser. SNPs were filtered based on p-value < 0.05 and odds ratio (OR) > 1. Missense mutations in selected SNPs were further analyzed for gene expression in lung tissue and distribution across populations. From an initial 151 SNPs, 86 met the statistical criteria, and six were identified as missense variants. Two genes, TNIP1 and PSMB8, showed significantly high expression in lung tissue. SNP rs2071543 in PSMB8 exhibited a strong correlation with increased gene expression and demonstrated notable allele frequency variation across populations. These findings suggest that genetic variations, particularly in PSMB8, may contribute to individual susceptibility to lung diseases induced by environmental exposures. This study highlights the importance of multidatabase analysis in identifying genetic biomarkers and provides a foundation for the development of precision therapies for multifactorial lung diseases.

Abstract

Tonsillectomy remains a common surgical intervention for chronic or recurrent tonsillitis, with evolving techniques aiming to minimize complications and accelerate recovery. This case report explores the clinical outcomes of using conventional tonsillectomy compared to the Bipolar Vessel Sealing Device (BVSD) methods. Two male patients, aged 22 and 33, presented with chronic tonsillitis characterized by throat discomfort, odynophagia, and worsening symptoms, including sleep-related breathing difficulties. Both underwent tonsillectomy, one with the conventional Sluder-Ballenger technique and the other with BVSD. Postoperative parameters pain (measured by Visual Analog Scale), bleeding, fever, and time needed to regain the normal diet were monitored for six days. No bleeding or fever was observed in either patient. However, the BVSD technique was associated with significantly lower pain scores, ranging from VAS 5 to 0 by day six, compared to 9 to 3 in the conventional group. Additionally, patients in the BVSD group transitioned to solid food earlier (day 4), while the conventional group required until day 6. These findings suggest improved tissue preservation and faster functional recovery with BVSD. The BVSD technique offers advantages in postoperative pain control and recovery of swallowing function compared to conventional methods. Although limited by small sample size, this case report supports the potential of BVSD as a more patient-friendly and efficient surgical approach for tonsillectomy, warranting further investigation in larger, controlled studies

Abstract

Breast cancer remains the most prevalent malignancy among women worldwide, with approximately 2.3 million new cases and 685,000 deaths reported in 2020. Despite advances in surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine, and targeted therapies, these treatments are often limited by severe side effects and resistance mechanisms. Artocarpus altilis a medicinal plant rich in flavonoids and other bioactive compounds, has been traditionally utilized in various therapeutic contexts and is increasingly recognized for its anticancer potential. This study aimed to systematically identify the molecular targets and signaling pathways associated with A. Artocarpus altilis in breast cancer using a network pharmacology approach, thereby providing novel insights into its therapeutic relevance. The in-silico analysis integrated compound screening, drug-likeness evaluation, target protein prediction, protein–protein interaction mapping, Gene Ontology enrichment, and KEGG pathway analysis. Among 14 candidate compounds, three exhibited poor pharmacokinetic properties based on Lipinski’s Rule of Five. A total of 16 breast cancer-related protein targets were identified, with Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 Receptor (IGF1R) emerging as the most significant hubs. Functional enrichment revealed that these targets participate in critical oncogenic pathways, including PI3K/Akt, MAPK, and JAK/STAT signaling, which are strongly associated with cell proliferation, migration, and metastasis. The findings highlight the central role of EGFR and IGF1R in mediating the pharmacological effects of A. Artocarpus altilis suggesting its potential as a complementary therapeutic candidate in breast cancer management. While this study provides a systematic bioinformatics-based framework for elucidating the molecular mechanisms of A. Artocarpus altilis, further experimental validation in vitro and in vivo is essential to confirm its efficacy and safety.
