Abstract

Measurement is a fundamental domain of mathematics that connects formal mathematical concepts with everyday experiences. Despite its practical relevance, students often experience persistent difficulties in understanding measurement conceptually, tending to approach it as a procedural activity rather than as a process of reasoning about quantities, units, and comparisons. These challenges indicate that learning measurement is influenced not only by individual cognitive factors but also by the social dynamics that shape classroom learning environments. This study aims to examine classroom social dynamics in learning measurement by providing empirical evidence from contextual learning situations. This study employed a qualitative research approach to explore how social interaction, scaffolding, and participation mediate students’ understanding of measurement in contextual learning environments. Data were collected through classroom observations, video recordings of learning activities, analysis of students’ written work, and interviews with selected students and the teacher. Contextual measurement tasks were designed to encourage collaboration, dialogue, and justification, enabling the examination of student–student and teacher–student interactions as they naturally occurred in the classroom. Data analysis was conducted iteratively to identify patterns of interaction, forms of scaffolding, and students’ learning progression within the Zone of Proximal Development. The findings reveal that students initially engaged with measurement tasks in a predominantly procedural manner, with limited conceptual understanding and minimal peer interaction. After the implementation of contextual learning situations, classroom social dynamics changed substantially. Students became more actively involved in discussion, collaborative problem-solving, and collective meaning-making. Peer interaction supported the articulation and refinement of students’ reasoning, while teacher scaffolding guided learning by extending students’ thinking without providing direct solutions. These social processes facilitated students’ movement from their actual level of understanding toward higher levels of conceptual competence within the Zone of Proximal Development. The study further shows that contextual learning tasks alone are insufficient to promote meaningful understanding unless they are supported by productive social interaction and adaptive scaffolding. Conceptual understanding of measurement emerged through socially mediated processes rather than through task completion alone. This study contributes to mathematics education research by emphasizing the central role of classroom social dynamics in contextual learning and by offering insights into how interaction and scaffolding can be orchestrated to support students’ conceptual understanding of measurement.

Abstract

A narrative text E-Module based on Acehnese local wisdom has never been developed by any scholars, yet it is essential for material development in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context at high school level to enhance students’ reading comprehension skills. The research process involved four stages: needs analysis, expert validation, implementation, and student response evaluation. The needs analysis involving 35 students revealed that learners required short, simple, accessible, and up-to-date texts, particularly folklores reflecting local wisdom. Expert validation indicated that the developed E-Module achieved a “very valid” category, with material validation scoring 96.7% and media validation scoring 94.6%. While the module was considered highly effective in improving vocabulary, inference, and comprehension skills, experts recommended minor revisions to better support independent learning and enrich multimedia features. The effectiveness of the E-Module was further confirmed through a paired sample t-test, which demonstrated a significant improvement between pre-test and post-test scores (t = -10.81, p < 0.05), with a mean gain of 26.57 points. Moreover, students’ responses were overwhelmingly positive, with 80%–89% strongly agreeing and 6%–14% agreeing across aspects such as ease of use, systematic arrangement, motivation, and contribution to reading comprehension. This study concludes that the developed E-Module is pedagogically sound, contextually relevant, and feasible for broader implementation in EFL reading instruction. This study provided reading material with local wisdom based that can be easily access online.

Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia has triggered a corresponding increase in consumer protection issues, which is an urgent problem that this study seeks to examine. This study aims to uncover the practice of consumer protection that occurred in Indonesia within the implementation of e-commerce transactions, which is then analysed using the perspective of positive and Islamic laws. Using a normative-empirical legal approach, the study evaluates the compatibility of practices with Sharia principles. We employed a normative-empirical analysis to evaluate e-commerce transactions in Indonesia through the dual lenses of Sheikh Wahbah al-Zuhaili’s fiqh muamalah and the law concerning Consumer Protection (UUPK). Empirical findings show that businesses have limited legal literacy and ethical awareness, often delegating consumer protection responsibilities to platforms and failing to enforce the rights guaranteed by the Consumer Protection Law (UUPK), as seen in widespread issues related to misleading product representations and inadequate dispute resolution mechanisms. Nevertheless, government oversight and formal dispute resolution mechanisms, such as the Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency, are inadequate for the scale and complexity of the digital market. Normatively, this study combines these findings with Sheikh Wahbah al-Zuhaili's Islamic legal framework, showing that common digital practices, such as non-transparent product descriptions and hidden fees, violate the basic pillars of contracts and introduce the prohibited elements of gharar (uncertainty) and tadlīs (deception), thereby rendering transactions invalid under Islam. The study underlines that the ethical principles of fiqh muamalah (trust, justice, and honesty) align with the objectives of the UUPK, together forming a coherent basis for reform. To bridge the current gap, an integrated regulatory approach is essential, combining enhanced law enforcement, business ethics education, and the development of a transparent, Sharia-compliant digital system for online verification and dispute resolution.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the work environment of employees at PT.Sinar Galesong Mandiri Aroepala Branch in Makassar City. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques used in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. As for checking the validity of the data is done through credibility (degree of trust), transferability (transferability), dependability (dependence) and confirmability (certainty). Data analysis techniques use data collection, data condensation, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the work environment of employees at PT.Sinar Galesong Mandiri Aroepala branch in Makassar city was inadequate, as the physical work environment still had several deficiencies which included workplace buildings, work equipment, rest areas and places of worship. This needs to be considered by the company in improving employee performance. While the non-physical work environment is very good. The reason is because in the work environment, employees still maintain good relationships with other employees, superiors always supervise their subordinates, and cooperation between employees is always implemented.

Abstract

This study examines the legal position and strength of medical records and informed consent as evidence in medical malpractice cases in Indonesia. Using normative legal research methods, this study applies a statutory approach and an analytical approach to understand the aspects of health law and related evidentiary law. The study results indicate that medical records have a strong position as written evidence in civil procedural law and as written evidence in criminal procedural law. Meanwhile, informed consent plays an important role in proving the fulfilment of the doctor's obligation to provide information to patients. However, the existence of informed consent does not necessarily eliminate the doctor's responsibility if proven to have committed negligence. This study also reveals that the use of medical records and informed consent as evidence must consider aspects of patient confidentiality and the development of electronic medical record technology. In conclusion, although medical records and informed consent have significant evidentiary power, their use must be carried out carefully by considering the case context, medical professional standards, and applicable health law principles to ensure justice in resolving medical malpractice cases in Indonesia.
