Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in education has caused the learning curriculum to experience replication. Not only in delivering learning material, but replication also occurs in the learning assessment process. Teachers are required to be able to carry out an objective assessment of learning in all subjects. This study aims to determine teacher difficulties and explore alternative assessments used by teachers in mathematics learning in the pandemic era. This research is a qualitative study using an exploratory study approach that aims to deepen the study of research objectives that focus on constraint and alternative phenomena in assessing mathematics learning in elementary schools. The instrument used has been validated by experts and got the value of the coefficient Aiken = 0,742 this shows that the instrument used is valid and in the good category. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires for teachers and field observations in the online learning process. Data analysis was carried out by using descriptive techniques from the findings of the questionnaire and observation instruments. This study's results reveal that the teacher finds it difficult to provide an objective assessment of learning, and the alternative assessment of mathematics learning used is digital learning assessment and structured assignments to parent representatives in each zoning. Future research is expected to develop assessment instruments that can facilitate online learning assessments in the pandemic era.

Abstract

The unequal amount of questions that test students' lower and higher-order thinking skills is a concern in mathematics learning evaluation. The unequal amount of questions resulted in poor cognitive levels among students. The purpose of this study is to develop questions that may be used to assess the higher-order thinking skills of senior high school pupils and fulfill the requirements of being valid, practical, and effective. This study is a developmental research that employs the formative evaluation model. Validation sheets, student evaluation sheets, and examinations that measure students' higher-order thinking skills are among the data gathering procedures employed. According to the researchers' findings, the questions generated matched the valid, practical, and effective requirements. The valid criteria are based on the validators' assessments, and both validators agree that the questions created are good and possible to utilize with a few adjustments. Student answer papers to the established questions serve as the basis for practical criteria. According to the response form, 85 percent of pupils answered positively to the questions. Effective criteria are based on pupils' abilities to answer the questions that have been established. According to the test findings, 85 percent of students satisfied the minimal completeness requirements for both questions testing higher-order thinking skills, indicating that the questions were effective. The questions that have been developed by researchers can be used by teachers to evaluate students' higher-order thinking skills so that teachers do not only provide questions that measure students' lower-order thinking skills. In addition, the questions that have been developed can be used as a reference for developing questions that can measure students' higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of pre-service teachers in developing CoRes as a support for designing mathematics learning. Data were collected by reviewing documents of CoRes development results by 32 pre-service teachers after analyzing school mathematics learning documents in the form of syllabi and lesson plans prepared by experienced teachers. The analysis of the results of the pre-service CoRes document made by the pre-service teachers is done using descriptive statistics that are by calculating the mean. The results of the data analysis show that 18.8% of the pre-service teachers achieved very good qualification, 56.3% with good qualification, 15.6% with sufficient qualification, and 9.4% with poor qualification. Although there were still pre-service teachers belonged to the poor qualification, there were no pre-service teachers who failed in developing CoRes. Some individual students still seem to have difficulty developing CoRes. However, the CoRes document that has been prepared is very useful for carrying out further activities. Thus, it can be concluded that the development of CoRes can be used by pre-service teachers as a support to design learning.

Abstract

The study aims at exploring the final examination test items to identify the quality of the test items as an evaluation instrument. The study is descriptive quantitative research that pursues the document analysis to view the Final Semester Examination test item characteristics of Pancasila and Civic Education in Grade VIII of State Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 3 or MTs Negeri 3) in the Regency of Gunungkidul, the Province of Yogyakarta Special Region, within the 2020/2021 Academic Year. In analyzing the data that have been collected, the researchers have adopted the approach of Item Response Theory (*IRT) using the R Program assistance. The results of the study show that the Final Semester Examination test items of Pancasila and Civic Education are more appropriate to be analyzed by using the SPL Model. The degree of difficulty for these items falls into the “Good” quality within the range -4.0 until +4.0. On the contrary, the item discrimination capacity ranges between 0.079 and 4.891 with the “Moderate” quality.

Abstract

Responding to the importance of conducting evaluation on continuing professional development program for teachers, this study is aimed at describing the implementation and difficulty of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of mathematics teachers of Junior High School (JHS) in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. This research used a descriptive approach employing a quantitative-qualitative method with sequential explanatory strategy. The population of the research was 181 junior high school mathematics teachers who have already become civil servants. The samples were 63 teachers for quantitative research selected using stratified random sampling and proportional random sampling technique, while eight teachers for qualitative research were selected using purposive sampling technique. These eight teachers were selected because they were the only teachers handling the CPD program. The data were collected through a test, questionnaires, checklist sheet, study document, and interview. Data analysis was conducted using categorized performance trends, divided into five groups: Very Good/Difficult, Good/Difficult, Fair, Poor/Easy, and Very Poor/Very Easy. The data were analyzed using descriptive technique; the quantitative study analysis was performed by mean and standard deviation, whereas, the qualitative data analysis was obtained by data reduction, data display, and conclusion technique. The research results show that the majority of teachers’ CPD implementation is very poor, meanwhile, the difficulty of the engagement of CPD is categorized as fairly difficult.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the content validity of the self-regulated learning (SRL) scale using Likert model and multiple-choice model with content validity coefficient based on expert assessments with Aiken formula and expanded Gregory formula. In this study, the SRL scale with Likert and multiple-choice model are developed using the same outline/format. There are three experts who assess the items' relevancy using indicators of both scale formats. The results of the expert assessments are then used to calculate the coefficient of the validity with Aiken formula and the expanded Gregory formula. The results showed that the content validity coefficient based on expert assessment on Likert and multiple-choice format with Aiken formula is at 0.9 for each, while using the Aiken formula and expanded Gregory formula, the coefficient is 0.6 for Likert, and 0.8 for multiple-choice.
