Abstract

Uganda was one of the countries, which have received South Sudanese refugees since 2013. Since that period of time, South Sudanese refugee children in Uganda have faced challenges such as school dropouts, health issues, hunger, and family loss. Amid this crisis, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) intervened through Dubai Cares to support the rights of South Sudanese refugee children in Uganda through education program. The research employs a qualitative method by analyzing primary data from official government reports and websites, as well as secondary data from academic literature, reports, and online newspaper publications to examine the implementation of the Dubai Cares project for South Sudanese refugee children in Uganda. The concept of soft power is used to understand how the UAE leverages the Dubai Cares as a soft power instrument. Soft power concept serves to confirm that the UAE uses Dubai Cares to spread the country’s influence without resorting to coercive measures. The study finds that Dubai Cares enhances the UAE's attractiveness, reputation, and influence on the international stage through its educational programs for South Sudanese children in Uganda.

Abstract

Choosing a life partner is an important decision in a Muslim's life and must be made with consideration of Islamic teachings. In a pesantren environment, the relationship between santri and kiai plays a crucial role in this decision-making process, where the kiai serves not only as a teacher but also as a respected spiritual figure. This study aims to explore the influence of students’ devotion to their kiai in selecting a life partner at the Pesantren Habib Sholeh bin Alawi al-Haddad in Kubu Raya. The research employs a qualitative methodology using a case study approach, involving observations and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that kiai emphasizes the importance of kafa’ah, or equality, in terms of religion, wealth, and behavior as criteria for choosing a life partner, with a strong emphasis on religious compatibility as the primary factor. Additionally, students demonstrate their devotion by following the kiai’s guidance, even when it may differ from their personal preferences. This research contributes to a better understanding of the dynamics of partner selection in pesantren contexts, highlighting the unique relationship between students and kiai as a foundation for family values.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disorder marked by persistent hyperglycemia, leading to various complications, including diabetic nephropathy (DN). The STAT3-EGFR signaling axis plays a crucial role in the development and progression of diabetic nephropathy, with EGFR activation leading to STAT3 phosphorylation. Curcuma caesia Roxb, rich in curcuminoids, shows promise in managing DN due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This study aims to predict the inhibitory potential of Curcuma caesia compounds on STAT3 and EGFR in DN using molecular docking techniques. Methods: This study utilized molecular docking to evaluate the inhibitory potential of Curcuma caesia compounds on STAT3 and EGFR. Protein structures were obtained from the RCSB database and prepared using Biovia Discovery Studio. Redocking validated the method via RMSD analysis, while docking simulations assessed binding energy (ΔG). ADMET predictions analyzed physicochemical properties and toxicity, ensuring the compounds' suitability as drug candidates. Results: Redocking process validated the method, with RMSD values indicating accuracy. Curcumin (-9.71) and ar-Curcumene (-5.02) showed the lowest binding energy for both proteins, suggesting strong interactions. Visualization revealed significant amino acid interactions, particularly involving hydrogen bonds. Additionally, pharmacokinetic and toxicity analyses indicated that most compounds are suitable drug candidates, exhibiting good absorption, distribution, and safety profiles, thus supporting Curcuma caesia's therapeutic promise in diabetic nephropathy management. Conclusion: Curcuma caesia demonstrates significant potential as a therapeutic agent for diabetic nephropathy, with favorable molecular interactions, strong binding affinity to STAT3 and EGFR, and promising pharmacokinetic and safety profiles.

Abstract

Beef cattle are one of the meat producers that have the potential to realize Indonesia as the world's food barn by 2045. According to the expectations of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia will reach its golden age in 2045. The type of beef cattle in Indonesia is a cow that is adaptable and can live in the tropics. However, so far there are still obstacles in the beef cattle farming business, namely the lack of knowledge of farmers in their maintenance patterns, resulting in low production of livestock products. The determining factors for the quality of productivity are seeds, feed and livestock management. The animal feed factor dominates by 70% as a determinant of quality. Beef cattle farming is one of the contributors to protein sources. Livestock health management needs to be considered to reduce the possibility of farmers' losses due to diseases in livestock. This activity involves farmers directly in the process of injecting beef cattle. The target participants of community service activities are farmers who own cattle in Pekalobean Village. The methods used in this service activity include observation, counseling and evaluation. Livestock health management is one of the factors that directly affects the productivity of beef cattle. Optimal health in livestock is the main key to achieving maximum productivity. Therefore, livestock health care is very important. In addition to preventive efforts through maintained cage sanitation, providing vitamin supplements to livestock is also an important step to increase immunity. The administration of vitamin B complex to livestock has been proven to reduce stress and stimulate livestock growthThe program of giving vitamin B complex to beef cattle in Pekalobean village is a strategic step to improve the health and productivity of livestock. With good implementation, this program not only provides benefits for beef cattle, but also improves the welfare of farmers. It is hoped that this program can continue and become a model for other regions in an effort to improve the quality of livestock in Indonesia. Through good cooperation between the government, farmers, and the community, we can achieve a common goal in building a better livestock sector.
