Abstract

This study examines the role of the School Committee in enhancing education quality at MI Hidayatul Atfal Batu Samban, West Lombok, during 2023. Employing a descriptive qualitative method through observation, interviews, and documentation, findings show that the committee performs three essential functions: (1) supporting through financial assistance, infrastructure, and learning activities; (2) advising by providing input for programs and management; and (3) controlling by monitoring program implementation and fund accountability. Key challenges include limited community economic capacity, low parental awareness, and inadequate skills among committee members. To overcome these, the committee strengthens communication with school leadership, promotes self-help initiatives, and encourages community participation. The study highlights the importance of collaboration among committees, school leaders, teachers, and the community, recommending capacity building and stronger regulatory support to sustain improvements.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of growth mindset and digital literacy on professional teacher work motivation with resilience as a mediating variable in public senior high schools in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This study employed an ex-post facto quantitative approach with a sample of 104 teachers selected using a proportional sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1–5, which consisted of indicators from four research variables: growth mindset, digital literacy, resilience, and teacher work motivation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential analysis through validity and reliability tests, as well as hypothesis testing. The results indicate that growth mindset significantly influences work motivation (t-statistic = 2.672, p-value = 0.004) and resilience (t-statistic = 4.200, p-value = 0.000). Digital literacy also significantly influences work motivation (t-statistic = 3.118, p-value = 0.001) and resilience (t-statistic = 3.431, p-value = 0.000). Additionally, resilience plays a significant role in work motivation (t-statistic = 4.547, p-value = 0.000). Mediation tests prove that resilience mediates the effect of growth mindset (t-statistic = 3.372, p-value = 0.000) and digital literacy (t-statistic = 2.677, p-value = 0.004) on work motivation. The R-square value of 0.686 indicates that 68.6% of the variation in work motivation is explained by the research model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of child marriage in Sinjai Regency through the perspective of George Homans' exchange theory. This theory is used to understand how individuals and families make marriage decisions based on considerations of value and cost. The method employed in this research is a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and participatory observation techniques, involving informants who are couples married under the age of 19, as well as their parents from various social and economic backgrounds. The results indicate that child marriage in Sinjai Regency is caused by three main factors: economic reasons, arranged marriages, and premarital pregnancies. The economic factor serves as the primary driver, where families view marriage as a solution to financial difficulties and a means to enhance social status. Arranged marriages, often influenced by cultural norms, also contribute to the decision to marry. Additionally, premarital pregnancies create social pressure that encourages individuals to marry as a form of responsibility. These findings reflect the fundamental principles of Homans' exchange theory, where individuals strive to maximize benefits and minimize losses in social interactions. Therefore, it is essential for the government and society to raise awareness of the negative impacts of child marriage and provide better alternatives, such as education and economic empowerment programs, to reduce the incidence of child marriage in Sinjai Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of online game players in building intercultural tolerance through interactions in cyberspace. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological study type to explore the experiences of online game players in cross-cultural interactions. The research subjects consisted of seven players selected through purposive sampling, using snowball sampling until the data was saturated. Data collection techniques were through semi-structured interviews and participant observation, then data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman through the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and methods, accompanied by member checking with participants. The results of the analysis show four main findings: (1) online games act as a means of social interaction as well as entertainment, (2) cross-cultural communication is a factor that can strengthen and hinder relationships, (3) the practice of tolerance is reflected in the ability to manage emotions, compromise, act as a mediator, and use humor, and (4) educational values are apparent in the form of increased language skills, empathy, patience, and appreciation for diversity. Although verbal and strategic conflicts often arise, the emerging resolution patterns show that digital space has strong potential as a medium for learning tolerance and cross-cultural collaboration.

Abstract

Shrimp farming in Indonesia is dominated by traditional cultivation methods, therefore they do not have sufficient financial access to obtain expensive commercial feed. The Program for Application of Appropriate Technology (PTTG) aims to provide lessons on making independent feed and stimulating shrimp moulting for traditional farmers in Ma'rang District, Pangkajene and Islands Districts using local raw materials. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach model, which emphasizes the active involvement of the community in all activities, is used in this program. The knowledge and skills transferred from this study include the concept of artificial feed and moulting, preparation of raw materials, preparation of feed composition, mixing and weighing of raw materials, and pelleting and supplementation of feed. The results of the pre-test showed that the level of knowledge and skills regarding self-sufficient feed production and the manufacture of moulting-stimulating ingredients were generally in the poor category. However, after the learning activities, the post-test results showed that the level of knowledge and skills increased significantly and was generally in the good category. In general, partners believe that learning items are technically easy to apply, economically inexpensive, and ecologically can reduce agricultural and fishery waste. The lessons learned by traditional cultivators through this program can be utilized optimally in increasing production.
