Abstract

Qiṣāṣ is a legal principle that existed in pre-Islamic religions, and in Surah Al-Maidah (5:32-33), the law of qiṣāṣ intersects with Biblical sources. However, the intertextual readings by mufasirun (Qur'anic commentators) are often disproportionate. Additionally, the concept of Orientalist intertextual analysis has created a disconnect with the field of ‘ulūm al-Qur'ān (sciences of the Qur'an), which has implications for the interpretation of these verses. This article aims to explore the Qur'ān's stance on the Biblical tradition in the context of qiṣāṣ through intertextual analysis, applying the principles of ‘ulūm al-Qur'ān. As part of a literature review, the primary source, Surah Al-Maidah (5:32-33), will be examined alongside secondary sources, including scholarly and Orientalist interpretations, to enhance the analysis. This study employs the qualitative data analysis method developed by Miles and Huberman, which involves data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. This article demonstrates that the Qur'ān engages with the Biblical tradition in two significant ways: 1) It affirms qiṣāṣ as a law that is already present in Abrahamic religious texts, specifically in Leviticus and the Mishnah Sanhedrin. This affirmation highlights the Qur'ān's intertextual connection with the broader Biblical tradition; 2) The Qur'ān revises the earlier concept of qiṣāṣ in the context of a critique directed at the ahl al-Kitāb of Medina and a condemnation of the behaviors characteristic of the Jahiliyya Arabs. Furthermore, Qur'an 5:32 can be interpreted as a foundational principle for the application of diyat in Islamic law, distinguishing it from previous qiṣāṣ laws

Abstract

For Muslim customers, the halal validity of cosmetics is a major concern. In cosmetics industry, one critical aspect is the contamination of porcine derivatives in halal cosmetic products. This review method discusses the application of real-time PCR (RT-PCR) for the detection of porcine DNA in cosmetic products, including the principle of the method, DNA extraction protocol, primers and probes design, and method application in various types of cosmetic products. DNA extraction from the cosmetic matrix samples requires optimization due to the complexity of the material and the possibility of DNA degradation during the cosmetic production process. The precise primers and probes design is also crucial to ensure specificity towards porcine DNA. The application of the RT-PCR method has been successful in various forms of cosmetics such as creams, lotions, lipsticks, and soaps, although each type of cosmetic product has unique challenges. Performance evaluation of the RT-PCR method showed good repeatability and reproducibility with coefficients of variation (CV) below 10% in numerous studies. The main challenges of the method include extraction of DNA due to the DNA degradation during the cosmetics production process, interference from cosmetic ingredients to RT-PCR analysis, and the need for method standardization. Solutions that have been developed such as the use of short gene targets, PCR additives to overcome inhibitors, and amplification techniques such as digital PCR to improve sensitivity. The recent development has led to the integration of protein-based methods and international standardization to support cosmetic halal certifications.

Abstract

This study discusses the legal protection for outsourcing (outsourcing) workers in the perspective of social justice and employment law in Indonesia. The takeover phenomenon is widening with the enactment of the Job Creation Act which changed the previous regulatory structure, including the deletion of Articles 64 and 65 as well as the amendment of Article 66 in the Labor Code. These changes impact on the disappearance of transferable employment constraints, thus magnifying the potential for legal uncertainty and violations of workers’ normative rights. Through a normative juridical approach, this study analyzes the statutory provisions and the urgency of restricting the types of transferable work. It was stressed that legal protection should be preventive and repressive in order for workers to continue to receive justice, decent wages, as well as social security. The conclusion of the study recommends that the deleted articles be reinstated in order to guarantee equitable legal protection for turnover workers in accordance with Panchasila values and national employment objectives.

Abstract

AbstractDiscourse of religious understanding in Indonesia today is a concern of some Indonesian figures and scholars and a wide part of the world. The understanding and deeds of some Muslims do not reflect the universality and "rahmatan" of Islamic teachings. There are some Muslims who are very textual and radical in understanding and practicing Islam, some are secular liberals in understanding and practicing the teachings of Islam. Therefore, in the face of this problem. Researchers wanted to parse it based on abid al-Jabiri's epistimology, namely epistimology bayani, burhani and irfani. This study uses the descriptive-analysis method. The three Epistimological Typologies can be used as a method and basis in maintaining the purity of Islamic teachings and maintaining the value of Rahmatan and its Univerality. The use of Abid al-Jabiri epistimology typology in understanding and practicing Islam can also make Muslims as a ummah who hold on to nusush (text), enthusiastically seek the benefit of all reality and responsive to all challenges/changes of the times.

Abstract

Beef is the preferred main ingredient for patties due to its high nutritional value; however, it is also a costly commodity. As a result, beef is often adulterated or partially substituted with pork, which can raise ethical and religious concerns. This study aimed to investigate the physicochemical and volatilome characteristics of patties made from beef, pork, and their mixtures at varying ratios, both with and without added seasonings (salt, pepper, and garlic). Physicochemical properties—including proximate composition, water-holding capacity, cooking loss, texture, and color—were analyzed to assess how pork and seasoning additions influence the characteristics of beef patties. Volatilome analysis was performed using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Data were analyzed using principal component analysis (PCA) and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) to identify volatile compounds affected by the inclusion of pork. The results showed that adding 25% pork and seasoning altered the physicochemical properties of beef patties. These additions also affected the volatilome profiles. Key volatile marker compounds identified included Dimethyl disulfide (beef patties), Naphthalene (mixed patties), and Hexanal (pork patties) in seasoned samples. For unseasoned samples, potential markers were 3,7,11- Trimethyl-1-dodecanol, Hexadecane, and Nonanal for beef patties; Naphthalene, Octanal, and Heptanal for mixed patties; and Hexanal, (E)-2-Octenal, (E)-2-Heptenal, and 2-Pentylfuran for pork patties. These findings demonstrate that both physicochemical and volatilomic analyses are effective tools for distinguishing between patties made from beef, pork, and their mixtures. Future studies should evaluate whether these compositional changes influence the sensory properties of the patties. As a chemical validation, quantification of the identified markers using reference compounds is also required.

Abstract

Abstract

The imbalance in the study of religions not only occurs in the history of its development but also its methodology. Starting from the Western scientists who are not objective in describing comprehensively the development of this discipline that sets aside the contribution of Muslim scientists in it. Which gives an effect on the paradigm that produces a methodology that is very westernized. This knowledge cannot be separated from the role of contemporary Muslim scientists and researchers, by using the method of critical analysis, the author tries to Islamize one of the main methods in the study of religions namely the phenomenology of religion. The goal is to be friendly and can be used by Muslim scientists and researchers. By the concept and method of Islamization of Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas's on science (de-westernization, integration and Islamization), the authors formulated three problematic aspects in the phenomenology of religion, those are paradigms, epoche method and neutral. After the process of criticism as a form of de-westernization, the author then integrates with the research methods of Muslim scientists. Thus, the phenomenology of religion was successfully Islamized and friendly for Muslim researchers to be used.
