The ethical and moral crisis in Indonesia has spread to the work environment, as evidenced by the high level of fraud and abuse of power. This phenomenon requires effective solutions, one of which is Islamic Work Exemplification. This concept is relevant to Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population and aligns with universal ethical principles. The main challenge is to implement and measure these principles in daily behavior. Although many studies have shown the influence of religion on work ethics, researchers have yet to make a serious effort to develop and validate the Islamic Work Exemplary Scale. This study aims to develop, validate, and estimate the reliability of the Islamic Work Exemplary Scale. An exploratory method based on a quantitative approach was used in this study. Respondents as scale test subjects were randomly selected from as many as 453 employees from Indonesia's government and private sectors. Respondents were divided into two groups: 180 for the small-scale pilot test and 273 for the large-scale pilot test. This study used exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to identify factors and dimensions and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to prove validity and reliability. The results showed that of the 37 items tested, 31 were valid and reliable. The items formed four important aspects of Islamic work ethics: honesty, responsibility, professionalism, and religiosity. Although this study has some limitations, the results of this study are important and can be used as a basis for further research on Islamic work ethics.

Self-efficacy is one of the affective factors that contributes to students’ learning. It is defined by the extent which one believes they can do to accomplish a task. Specifically in mathematics learning, self-efficacy is students’ belief of their mathematical ability. The current research investigated mathematics self-efficacy of middle school students in Makassar. 393 students were administered to 22 items mathematics self-efficacy questionnaire. It was found that students’ self-efficacy is in moderate category with all three dimensions (level, strength, generality) being in moderate category as well. Students in A and B-stratified school had slightly better self-efficacy than those who are in C-stratified school. Detailed on some questionnaire items is discussed as well.

Problem-based learning (PBL) has been widely applied as an alternative to improve learning outcomes, but it is still little studied in the context of the probability theory course. This study described how implementing the PBL model improves students’ problem-solving and critical thinking skills in probability theory course and evaluates its quality. This design research involved 58 undergraduate students and two probability theory course lecturers from two universities in Indonesia as participants. Data collection used observation to describe PBL implementation, then questionnaire and pretest-posttest to evaluate the quality of the model. This study produced a PBL model for the probability theory course which is implemented through five steps: i) Orienting students on problems; ii) Organizing students to study; iii) Assisting individual and group investigations; iv) Developing and presenting work or solutions; and v) Analyzing and evaluating problem solving processes. Lecturers and students consider that the implementation of PBL is practical. PBL implementation can also improve students’ problem-solving skills and critical thinking in the probability theory course. Thus, implementing PBL can be used as a solution to optimize learning outcomes in the probability theory course.

The objective of this simulation study was to evaluate the accuracy of item parameters estimation when employing the 3PL IRT model, mainly focusing on sample size and the length of the test (number of test items). The investigation used six datasets produced by WinGen, each comprising 5000 responses and varying test lengths within 10 to 40 items. For each dataset, the study conducted simulations and re-analyzed the data 15 times, generating a total of 2025 data subsets and estimating 225 parameters for each item. The results revealed that smaller sample sizes led to more pronounced biases, emphasizing a recommended minimum sample size of 3000 for precise parameter estimation. Additionally, the study found that a limited number of items (short test) yielded biased estimations and proposed a minimum of 25 or 40 test items for accurate estimation using the 3PL IRT model. These findings offer valuable insights for test developers in making informed decisions regarding sample sizes and test length, ultimately ensuring reliable and accurate parameter estimates.

Assessment has an important role in the learning process. Assessment is not only used to see the results of students' learning achievements but is also used to improve the learning process. PISA (Program for International Assessment) is a study of international level assessment organized by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development). Indonesia is one of the participating countries in the PISA study. However, the content of the questions within the PISA framework is still relatively small in the available teaching materials. So educators in Indonesia have begun to make adjustments and conduct research on the development of PISA-type assessments. The purpose of this article is to examine the PISA type of mathematical assessment that has been developed. Then, the potential effects of the problems that have been developed will be seen. This study uses the literature review method by reviewing and reviewing articles on PISA-type mathematical assessments. Article collection was carried out on Google Scholar and Research Gate in the period 2015-2021. Based on the results of the research that has been reviewed, it is known that the potential effects of the developed PISA type of mathematical assessment include problem-solving, mathematical literacy, communication skills, and reasoning abilities.
