This study aims to determine the effect of discharge planning on parents' ability to care for children after diarrhea at RSUD Labuang Baji Makassar. This research is a quantitative research with a Quasi Experimental design. The population studied were parents with children suffering from diarrhea who were treated at Labuang Baji Hospital, Makassar. With a sample size of 60 respondents. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, namely the control group and the treatment group. After both groups were observed regarding knowledge, attitudes and skills. The treatment group was given the dischaege planning intervention, while the control group was not given the intervention. Data were collected using observation sheets and questionnaires with assessments according to the Gutman and Likert scales. Data analysis used t-test, Chi-Square, and Odds Ratio, with a significance level of α = 5% (0.05). Analysis of results in the treatment group using t-test. It was found that there was a significant influence between discharge planning on parents' ability to care for their children after diarrhea. with the expected value (p = 0.00) smaller than the value (0.005). and in the Chi-Square (Fisher's Exact Test) the value P = 0.00 < 0.05 is obtained which can be concluded that there is a relationship between discharge planning and the ability of parents to care for children after diarrhea, whereas in the analysis using the Odds Ratio of the value is 7.5, meaning . Parents who were given discharge planning intervention were 7 times more likely to have greater knowledge, skills and attitudes compared to parents who were not given discharge planning intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, no influence or relationship was found with the expected t-test value p=0.32 > 0.05 and Chi-Square p=1,000 > 0.05. The conclusion is that there is an influence of discharge planning on parents' ability to care for children after diarrhea.

At this time there is an increase in the need for growth and development so that optimal nutritional intake is needed. However, until now there are still many adolescents who have nutritional problems. One of the causes of undernutrition is the lack of knowledge of adolescents about balanced nutrition. The purpose of the study was to determine knowledge about balanced nutrition in adolescents. This research was conducted in a senior high school. This research method is an observational quantitative research with a cross sectional study design. Data collection was done online by sending a google form link. The results showed that most respondents still had insufficient knowledge of balanced nutrition, which amounted to 53.5%. It is concluded that the school is expected to conduct education about balanced nutrition regularly so that students' knowledge of balanced nutrition increases.

Abstract

Background: Post-abdominal surgery patients often experience impaired lung function due to pain, decreased lung expansion, and prolonged immobilization. Early mobilization is one of the recommended non-pharmacological interventions to accelerate lung function recovery. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of early mobilization on the recovery of lung function in post-abdominal surgery patients. Method: This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach. control group. A sample of 40 patients was divided into an intervention group (n=20) who were given early mobilization 6–12 hours after surgery, and a control group (n=20) who were given mobilization according to standard hospital procedures. Pulmonary function parameters were measured using spirometry (Forced Vital Capacity / FVC and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second/FEV1) on days 1 and 3 postoperatively. Data analysis used paired t-test and independent t-test with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: The study showed a significant increase in FVC and FEV1 values in the intervention group compared to the control group (p=0.001). Patients who underwent early mobilization had faster lung function recovery, with a reduced incidence of respiratory complications such as atelectasis. Conclusion: Early mobilization is effective in accelerating the recovery of lung function in patients following abdominal surgery. Implementation of early mobilization can be used as a standard intervention in postoperative care to prevent respiratory complications.

Abstract

The number of people with hypertension continues to increase every year, it is estimated that by 2025 there will be 1.5 billion people affected by hypertension, and it is estimated that every year 9.4 million people die from hypertension and its complications. This case study aims to compare the effectiveness of Moringa leaf tea and Rosella flower tea in reducing blood pressure in menopausal women who experience mild hypertension. The research respondents were 2 menopausal women who suffered from mild hypertension, one respondent was given intervention in the form of Moringa leaf tea while the other respondent was given intervention in the form of rosella flower tea. The intervention was provided for 14 days to see a comparison of the effectiveness of the two interventions provided. The reduction in blood pressure in respondents with the Moringa leaf tea intervention was 15/11 mmHg, while the reduction in blood pressure in respondents with the rosella flower tea intervention was 7/7 mmHg, there was a difference in blood pressure of 8/4 mmHg. Thus, it can be concluded that giving Moringa leaf tea is more effective in reducing blood pressure in menopausal women with mild hypertension compared to giving rosella flower tea. Moringa leaf tea can be developed as an alternative therapy to lower blood pressure in people with mild hypertension.

Abstract

Marriage is a fundamental aspect of the human life cycle, serving not only as a sacred union between two individuals but also as a cultural tradition rich in symbolism and profound philosophical meanings passed down through generations. In Javanese culture, wedding ceremonies are more than mere rituals; they embody complex philosophies reflected through various elements called 'ubarampe' or ceremonial accessories used during traditional wedding processions. These ubarampe consist of various items that carry specific symbolic functions, collectively demonstrating the synergy of cultural and philosophical values within the community, especially in Boja Village, Kendal, Central Java. They serve as representations of the relationship between humans, nature, and divine principles, emphasizing harmony and balance—core concepts in Javanese cosmology—where elements such as water, fire, earth, and air symbolize fundamental aspects of life and the universe. Notably, earth and water dominate the ubarampe, symbolizing stability, fertility, and continuity, reflecting the community's view that success and harmony in marriage depend on maintaining equilibrium among these elements. This philosophy underscores the importance of humans aligning themselves with natural forces to achieve a harmonious and blessed life. Studying these symbols and their meanings reveals how traditional cultural practices strengthen local identity, preserve heritage, and foster a deeper understanding of life’s interconnectedness, emphasizing that cultural preservation is vital for sustaining community identity and ensuring the continuity of ancestral wisdom in contemporary society.
