Abstract

Plant literacy among students in the Mentawai Islands is still relatively low, which raises concerns about the effectiveness of science education in this remote area. This study aims to analyze students' plant literacy and the contribution of textbook content to students' understanding of plant concepts. This study combines survey methods with textbook content analysis. A total of 302 students from three high schools in the Mentawai Islands were involved in this study, namely SMA Negeri 1 Siberut Tengah, SMA Negeri 2 Sikakap, and SMA Negeri 2 Sipora. Data were collected through a plant literacy questionnaire and an analysis of the content of biology books used in classes X, XI, and XII. The results show that students' plant literacy is generally very low. The textbooks used are insufficient in integrating plant-related content. This highlights the need to develop more relevant and comprehensive textbooks to improve students' plant literacy. It is also important to create better teaching materials to support plant literacy, especially in remote areas like the Mentawai Islands.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Big Data Analytics (BDA) on business decision-making and business performance at PT XYZ, a leading e-commerce company in Indonesia. As businesses increasingly rely on data-driven strategies to remain competitive, Big Data has emerged as a critical tool for enhancing decision-making processes and optimizing business outcomes. The primary objectives of this study were to analyze how PT XYZ utilizes Big Data to inform strategic and operational decisions, to assess the benefits of this implementation, and to identify the challenges faced during the process. Through qualitative research methods, including interviews, document analysis, and observations, this study investigates the ways in which Big Data analytics tools such as predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and customer segmentation are integrated into the company’s decision-making framework. The findings suggest that the use of Big Data has led to significant improvements in revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency at PT XYZ. Specifically, the company saw a 12% increase in revenue, a 15% improvement in customer satisfaction, and an 8% reduction in operational costs following the adoption of Big Data-driven decision-making processes. Despite these positive outcomes, the implementation of Big Data faced several challenges, including data integration issues, skill gaps among employees, and high initial costs associated with adopting new technologies. The study concludes that while Big Data Analytics can greatly enhance business performance, companies must address these challenges to fully realize its potential. The research provides valuable insights for other businesses considering the integration of Big Data into their decision-making processes. It also contributes to the growing body of literature on Big Data's role in modern business management and its ability to drive strategic and operational improvements.

Abstract

Palm sugar is one of the products from aren (Arenga pinnata) which is classified as Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) which has the potential to empower the community's economy. This research was conducted in Bontomanai Village, Bungaya District, Gowa Regency. The purpose of this study is to describe the management of palm sugar and calculate the income of palm sugar farmers. Descriptive analysis approach and income analysis are used as methods in analyzing the data obtained. The results showed that the process of managing palm sap into palm sugar was still managed in a simple and traditional way. The stages of managing palm sugar production which include tapping, cooking, printing, to packaging. Meanwhile, the total income of palm sugar is Rp. 361,081,967 per year with an average of Rp 9,758,967/household/year. The level of education of aren farmers, the productive age group, and the percentage of family dependents are an integral part of the results of this study.

Abstract

This research is entitled "Efforts to control COVID-19 through Telemedicine Services Permenkes Permenkes Number 20 of 2019". The formulation of the problems that will be raised in this study are: first, how is the effectiveness of implementing telemedicine services in an effort to control the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia. Second, how does it affect the trend of the declining rate index for COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. And third, how is the Minister of Health number 20 of 2019 in providing regulations on the implementation of telemedicine services for isoman patients. In this study, a normative juridical approach was used, with research specifications that were descriptive analysis. The data used is secondary data obtained through literature study, and then analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study can be concluded that: first, that the implementation of telemedicine services for controlling cases of the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia is very effective. Telemedicine comes from the Greek, namely tele which means far and medical which means health services by health workers. According to the provisions in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Telemedicine Services Between Health Service Facilities Telemedicine is the provision of long-distance health services by health professionals using information and communication technology, including the exchange of information on diagnosis, treatment, prevention of disease and injury, research and evaluation, and continuing education of health care providers for the benefit of improving individual and community health.

Abstract

Software testing is an important process in ensuring the quality and reliability of a system. This study aims to evaluate the online registration feature on the official website of the Bandung City Hospital using the Black Box Testing technique with the Boundary Value Analysis (BVA) approach. The BVA technique was chosen because it is effective in identifying software defects that may occur in input boundary values, which are often the source of critical errors in the system. Testing focused on several important inputs in the registration process, such as the population registration number (NIK), BPJS card number, and cellphone number. The test results showed that the system was able to handle most of the boundary values ​​well, but there were several inconsistencies in input validation that could result in registration failure. These findings indicate the importance of implementing systematic and in-depth testing methods to improve system reliability, especially in digital-based public services.

Abstract

Community Forestry (HKm) is a scheme that aims to empower local communities and provide access to manage protected/production forest areas. The pine resin commodity is one of the sources of livelihood for the community in the Cempalagie HKm area by utilizing existing access. Value chain analysis is very important to find out the pine resin commodity business actors in the marketing chain from upstream to downstream, namely from raw materials to become a product through qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. The results of the value chain analysis will then show the market structure in the form of market type, number of sellers and buyers, product differentiation, entry barriers, cost structure and conglomeration formed in each chain. The number of respondents was selected as 30 households by census based on respondents who work as pine resin tappers. The results showed that pine resin commodity business actors consisted of tappers, intermediary traders and wholesalers or pine resin processing industries in which the flow of goods, information and money occurred and marketed pine resin and pine resin products in the form of gondorukem, turpentine, alpha pinene and delta carene to international markets, namely India, Vietnam and China.

Abstract

Nagari Sijunjung Indigenous Village, located in Sijunjung Regency, is a community with substantial agricultural potential. Rice is one of the primary commodities cultivated in this village. Currently, rice farming relies on a rain-fed system, which is highly dependent on the rainy season, resulting in synchronized planting schedules. This practice significantly increases the volume of rice straw waste after the harvest season, while its utilization remains suboptimal. One viable solution to address this issue is processing rice straw into compost. The aim of this program was to enhance the knowledge and skills of local residents in composting rice straw. The socialization activity was attended by 14 participants from Nagari Sijunjung Indigenous Village. Pretests and posttests were employed as evaluation tools to measure changes in participants' knowledge before and after the socialization sessions. The results indicated an improvement in the participants' understanding, as reflected by an increase in the average pretest score from 85.71 to a posttest average score of 87.14. However, among the variables assessed in the pretest and posttest, two variables exhibited a decline in average scores, suggesting that participants’ understanding of these specific aspects requires further attention and improvement.

Abstract

The impact of foreign ownership on the financial performance of telecommunications companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is analyzed in this research. Using panel data from 2015 to 2023, key financial performance indicators such as Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Profit Margin are examined. Moderating variables, including company size, leverage, and growth opportunities, are also considered. The analysis reveals a significant positive relationship between foreign ownership and financial performance. Companies with higher foreign ownership tend to show better asset utilization (ROA) and greater profitability (ROE). Additionally, moderating factors play a critical role: larger companies benefit more from foreign ownership, while high leverage negatively impacts the relationship between foreign ownership and financial performance. The findings suggest that managing leverage and seizing growth opportunities are key for maximizing the benefits of foreign investment. Encouraging foreign investment in Indonesia's telecommunications sector could enhance its competitiveness and overall performance. This research contributes to the understanding of foreign ownership and offers valuable insights for policymakers and business leaders in emerging markets.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital era, banking institutions are required to adapt their marketing strategies to meet the changing behavior and expectations of consumers. This study aims to analyze the digital marketing strategies implemented by Bank XYZ and evaluate their impact on customer experience, engagement, and overall business performance. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews with marketing and IT staff, focus group discussions with customers, and the review of internal documents and digital analytics. The findings reveal that Bank XYZ utilizes a comprehensive digital marketing approach involving social media platforms, SEO, targeted email campaigns, paid online advertising, and mobile application promotion. These strategies have contributed significantly to enhancing the digital customer experience by offering personalized content, real-time services, and interactive features. As a result, there has been a notable increase in customer engagement and satisfaction, which positively influenced key business metrics such as customer acquisition, retention, and brand perception. Despite these successes, the study identifies several areas for improvement, including the need for enhanced personalization across channels, stronger integration between departments, and improved cybersecurity measures. This research provides practical insights for financial institutions seeking to optimize digital marketing practices and emphasizes the importance of customer-centric, data-driven strategies in maintaining competitiveness in the digital banking landscape.
