Abstract

Leachate water from final waste landfill (Tempat Pembuangan Akhir, TPA) contains harmful substances for the environment and living organisms. Furthermore, the leachate water can deteriorate equipment buried near TPA, e.g. buried water pipe. This work investigated the corrosion rate of mild steel SPCC SD after immersion in leachate water of TPA Gunung Kupang and Cahaya Kencana located in South Kalimantan. The steel plate immersion into leachate water was worked out in 3 different cases. The first case was 2 weeks immersion in leachate water followed by 1 week contact with ambient air. In the second case, steel plate was immersed in leachate water for 1 week and then 2 weeks in direct contact with ambient air. The last one was steel plate immersion in leachate water for 3 weeks without any direct contact with ambient air. The investigation shows that longer contact duration between wet steel surface, after immersion in leachate water, with ambient air increases the corrosion rate. The investigation shows also that the corrosion rate due to leachate water from Gunung Kupang landfill is higher than that of Cahaya Kencana landfill. Corrosion rate for TPA Gunung Kupang case varies from 0.441 to 0.718 mmpy. Meanwhile, corrosion rate for TPA Cahaya Kencana varies from 0.131 to 0.495 mmpy. This is due to lower pH of leachate water from TPA Mount Kupang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the irrigators of ethno-religious based jigsaw models to improve students' critical thinking skills in learning Islamic religious education in Indonesia. This type of research is quantitative research with a meta-analysis approach. This study analyzed 27 effect sizes obtained from Google scholars, ERIC, Wiley, and Taylor of Francis from the 2021-2024 issue with 1034 students. The JASP application assists the data analysis in this study.  Effect size analysis is calculated with a 95% confidence level. The study results concluded that the effect size value obtained through the random effect model was 1,952 (high effect size category). These findings explain that, on average, students who apply the ethno-religious-based jigsaw model are effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in learning Islam. This study provides important information on using the jigsaw model in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRS) learning model based on local wisdom in improving reading skills in children. This research is a type of meta-analysis research. Research data was obtained from 22 studies that met the inclusion criteria.  Data was obtained from Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, Wiley, and IEEE databases. Data analysis calculates the effect size value with the help of JASP software. The results of the study concluded that the value of the summary effect size was d = 1.010. These findings show that the cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRS) learning model based on local wisdom significantly affects reading ability in children with a very high influence category. In addition, this research is expected to contribute to future educational and research practices.

Abstract

Students can be motivated by making them aware of their intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Guiding the student could include addressing the subject’s goals, the nature of the activities, and the techniques used to complete the tasks, including supporting them in determining the best ways to learn. Providing learning facilities indicates that the instructor should be able to facilitate and simplify learning. This is essentially characterized as creating and establishing suitable learning settings and providing learning resources. This piece of paper will emphasise a literature review on the KARDS Model as an alternative conceptualization for language training. The review is based on journal papers, conference proceedings, and book chapters that explore Kumaravadivelu's KARDS Model. The scope of this discussion is limited to the following points: (1) presenting Postmodernism as a relevant theoretical framework in the context of language teacher education and (2) presenting the KARDS model as an alternative conceptual outline that can help language teachers address teaching issues more effectively. This finding demonstrates that teachers must keep their knowledge, which serves as their academic medium of communication, up to date in order to survive in academic contexts. Their enhanced professional and personal knowledge is projected to lead to more positive perceptions. This distinction may be justified by the circulation of knowledge transfer and building, the routine exchange of knowledge, and academicians' access to the most recent results. Keywords: Alternative Approach, KARDS Model, and Language Education

Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to deconstruct the basic principles of accounting, which are often viewed as overly materialistic, by integrating seven Sufi values from the Syarah Ḥikam by Sheikh Aḥmad Zarrūq. This research seeks to create a more balanced accounting paradigm integrating financial gains with moral, social, and spiritual responsibilities.Method - This research utilizes a literature review method with a Derridean deconstruction approach, combining the text of Syarah Ḥikam with accounting literature. The deconstruction process involves identifying the material-spiritual binary to explore the integration of Sufi values into accounting principles.Result - The study's results show that integrating Sufi values strengthens the moral and justice aspects of accounting. This creates a more holistic approach that balances financial profit with spiritual and social responsibilities.Implication - This research has implications for the development of a more ethical and sustainable accounting system that balances material gain with moral and spiritual responsibilities relevant to both business and social practices.Originality - This study is unique in its use of classical Sufi texts to deconstruct the basic accounting principles. This novel approach in modern accounting studies has yet to be widely explored. By integrating spiritual values into accounting, this approach is expected to complement and enrich the current accounting perspectives, aiming not merely for fairness but for truth, fostering a better balance between material aspects and moral, social, and spiritual responsibilities.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore Izzuddin’s jalb masalih concept and its relevance to the NU’s fatwa related to Friday Prayers during the Covid-19 pandemic. The authors use qualitative research with content analysis. The results of this study are. First. Izzuddin’s maqasid syari'ah leads to jalb masalih which also includes the concept of dzar'u mafasid. Second, Izzuddin integrates imanyah and ilmiyyah in the basic aspects of jalb masalih argumentation. Third, Izzuddin uses the two terms dzarury-hajiy-takmiliy and aliyat-mutawasitat-daniyat as levels of masalih and mafasid. The level of maslahah is influenced by differences in place and time. Fourth, dalil syara is used as the basis of the maqasid of the hereafter and logic, dzan, experiment, and habit as the basis of the maqasid of the world life. Fifth, the authors see the relevance between the results of the NU’s fatwa related to Friday Prayers during the Covid-19 pandemic and the concept of the jalb masalih conceptualized by Izzuddin ibn Abd Salam. The author's criticism is on the information about worship in the yellow zone where there should be a firmness in allowing Friday Prayers to comply with legal health protocols that are carried out based on WHO health recommendations and the rules of Izzuddin’s maqasid, Seventh, there needs to be a basis for differences in worship based on zone quality in the fatwa of Friday prayer. The conclusion obtained is the need for the adjustment of the NU Fatwa with the paguyuban Indonesian culture
