Abstract

The current inquiry examines Bubur Suro (locally known as Tajhin Sora in Madura), an integral element of the Ashura tradition within the Bondowoso community. Beyond its physical form as a culinary dish, this tradition functions as a complex cultural artifact imbued with symbolic, historical, and social dimensions. This article aims to uncover the symbolic constructions, historical meanings, and social functions of Tajhin Sora in the context of the Islamic New Year. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the investigation gathered data through participant observation of rituals in East Java, in-depth interviews with cultural and religious leaders, and a comprehensive literature review. The findings reveal that Tajhin Sora serves as a material symbol of gratitude and spiritual victory, with historical narratives tracing back to the era of Prophet Noah. Socially, the ritual acts as a catalyst for social cohesion, intergenerational value transmission, and the reinforcement of Bondowoso’s cultural identity. The present analysis concludes that Tajhin Sora is a profound "living tradition" that continuously reproduces religious and socio-cultural values amidst modern shifts. Ultimately, the preservation of this tradition demonstrates the resilience of local culture in maintaining fundamental meanings within a contemporary framework

Abstract

Abstract: The widespread phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among Muslim social media users has been associated with heightened anxiety and other mental health challenges, revealing a critical gap in psychological interventions that often neglect spiritual dimensions. This study aims to explore the relevance of the Islamic concept of qana’ah as articulated by Ibnu Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, positioning it as a spiritual countermeasure to FOMO within the framework of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul). Employing a narrative review approach, this research synthesizes insights from classical Islamic texts and contemporary empirical studies to construct an integrative perspective. The findings indicate that FOMO contributes to psychological distress and reduced quality of life, whereas qana’ah, cultivated through practices such as muhasabah (self-reflection), gratitude, and tawakkal (trust in God), enhances psychological well-being and resilience in digital contexts. This study proposes a novel framework that bridges modern psychology and Islamic wisdom, while recommending future empirical research to validate the practical effectiveness of qana’ah-based interventions across diverse Muslim populations. Abstract

This study aims to describe the inculcation of character education values among students through religious and non-religious activities in madrasahs. The background of this study is the decline in student morality in the digital era, which demands educational institutions particularly madrasahs to play an active role in shaping students’ personalities with noble character. This research used a qualitative field study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the head of the madrasah, teachers, and students. The findings show that religious activities such as congregational prayers, Qur’an recitation, and Islamic holiday celebrations effectively instill values of religiosity, responsibility, and discipline. Meanwhile, non-religious activities such as flag ceremonies, social activities, and community service foster values of nationalism, cooperation, and environmental care. Character implementation is achieved through teacher role modeling, habituation, and the enforcement of school rules. In conclusion, integrating religious and non-religious activities in madrasahs serves as an effective strategy for holistic character formation.

Abstract

Green banking represents a policy framework widely adopted by financial institutions to encourage environmentally sustainable practices. This study investigates the implementation of green banking policies at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, particularly the Purwokerto Branch, and examines customer perceptions of these initiatives in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Employing a qualitative field research approach, respondents included representatives from Bank Syariah Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Ngudi Dadi Livestock Group, customers, and SMEs in Banyumas Regency. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, with validity ensured through triangulation techniques. The results show that the bank has implemented green banking through defensive, preventive, offensive, and sustainable strategies, evaluated using the Green Coin Rating (GCR) framework covering indicators such as carbon emissions, green rewards, green building, reuse/recycle/refurbish, paperless systems, and green investment. Customer perceptions varied considerably, with most respondents demonstrating limited knowledge of green banking, although they expressed strong support for initiatives such as paperless transactions, green building design, energy and water efficiency, and mobile banking services. The study further highlights the importance of extending policy benefits beyond livestock farmers to other local SMEs, including traditional food producers, fish farmers, and waste bank communities, thereby fostering a more equitable distribution of benefits within society.

Abstract

This paper describes the development CTL learning model in Fiqh subjects astheoretically and practically it is a learning model that has been tested for validity, practicality, and effectiveness, so that it can be considered as a learning model. CTLexplains about achieving the learning objectives, namely the main point is to increase students’ thinking level, the presentation of material in worksheets must be arranged according to students’ thinking level, teaching and learning activities must follow the phases of learning orientation, group discussions, class discussions, integration, and evaluation as learning syntax, in addition to the pre-test and post-test. As a results, CTLhas contributed to learning theory. The CTL is a prescriptive learning theory, which means that it prescribes optimal learning to achieve learning outcomes (especially to increase students’ thinking level). The question theory is that “to level up students’ thinking level in Fiqh subjects is by arranging learning materials according to students’abilities and the implementation of CTL.

Abstract

Magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) is an advanced material class that can be used for vibration damping. This material possesses the ability to reduce vibration disturbances through adjustment of its mechanical properties in response to a magnetic field applied from an external source. The objective of this study is to ascertain the effect of incorporating Magnetite (Fe₃O₄) nanomaterials into MRE. It is expected that this new material will be more sensitive to magnetic fields in damping vibrations, which would be a significant improvement. MRE is composed of carbonyl iron powder (CIP), silicone oil, and silicone rubber, with weight proportions of 30%, 5%, and 65%, correspondingly. The addition of magnetite nanomaterials to MRE occurred at weight ratios of 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. Observations of this new material included elemental composition analysis and viscoelastic testing of various mixture formulations in the laboratory. From this research, it can be concluded that an MRE containing Fe₃O₄ nanomaterials has been created. For the attenuation of vibrations within the 1–100 Hz frequency range. MRE-2 (MRE with 0.5% Fe₃O₄ added) is the best choice as the primary material, as it exhibited the highest tan delta value and strong damping performance at an intermediate frequency. MRE-1 sample was used as a base material mixture without added Magnetite also an excellent choice, offering high stiffness and good damping capability at low frequencies. It is shown by the results of this experiment that the effectiveness of MRE in reducing vibration can be increased by adding Magnetite, even in the limited mid-frequency range of 0 to 100 Hz.

Abstract

Technological developments are increasingly sophisticated. Likewise, sophistication is developing in vehicle parts. What were originally fuel-powered vehicles have now been modernized with electric vehicles that only rely on electricity as a charger. Therefore, researchers aim to find out the factors that influence the interest in buying electric bicycles among the people of Paiton. This research uses quantitative methods. The population in this research is the Paiton community who own electric bicycles. In this research, the sampling method used is the simple random sampling method. The simple random sampling method (Simple Random Sampling) is a sampling technique that is completely based on providing equal opportunities to the entire population (Bambang Sugeng, 2022). This research uses the Lemeshow formula, because the sample population is unknown. This research used a sample of 96 respondents. In accordance with calculations using the Lemeshow formula. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS software. The research results show that taste, price and income do not influence people's interest in buying electric bicycles.

Abstract

This study examines how Mahayana Buddhist practice is institutionally sustained and governed at the community level within a rural Indonesian context, framing religion as a social system shaped by collective decision processes and informal governance structures. The purpose of the study is to move beyond descriptive accounts of religious existence by analyzing how institutional dynamics, normative authority, and communal coordination interact to maintain religious continuity under local social constraints. Employing a qualitative case-based approach, the study draws on in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to capture everyday practices, leadership roles, and decision-making mechanisms embedded within the Mahayana Buddhist community. The findings reveal that religious sustainability is not driven by doctrinal enforcement, but by adaptive governance arrangements that balance ethical norms, communal legitimacy, and situational flexibility. Authority is exercised through negotiated roles rather than formal hierarchy, while collective decisions emerge through consensus-oriented processes that integrate religious values with local socio-cultural realities. These dynamics function as an informal yet stable governance system that enables the community to manage internal coordination and external pressures without institutional rigidity. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to systems-oriented perspectives in decision sciences and institutional analysis by demonstrating how religious practice operates as a socially embedded system of governance. By conceptualizing religion as a dynamic decision environment shaped by institutional interaction rather than static belief, the study offers an alternative analytical lens for understanding governance processes in non-state, value-driven systems, thereby extending the relevance of operations and systems research to socio-religious contexts that remain underexplored in international scholarship

Abstract

Western orientalist writings on Islam often present selective historical narratives that influence public understanding of Islamic teachings. One of these works is William J. Federer’s What Every American Needs to Know about the Qur’an – A History of Islam and the United States, which portrays Islam, the Qur’an, and the Prophet Muhammad in ways that raise theological and textual concerns. This study aims to analyze how key signifiers, Islam, the Qur’an, and the Prophet Muhammad are associated with signified meanings that deviate from established Islamic interpretations. Using Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic framework and a qualitative descriptive method, this research identifies three major patterns of signified deviation: (1) Islam is linked to coercion and revenge despite Qur’anic principles of religious freedom and forgiveness; (2) the Qur’an is portrayed as legitimizing violence and sexual misconduct through selective readings of specific verses; and (3) the Prophet Muhammad is represented as acting based on personal desire rather than divine command. The study concludes that these deviations result from reassigning signified meanings to key Islamic signifiers, producing an ideologically framed interpretation. This research contributes to understanding how semiotic processes shape contemporary representations of Islam in orientalist discourse.
