Abstract

In traditional classrooms, activities and tasks were clearly a part of a pre-planned syllabus that had been previously designed and based on specific curriculum guidelines. Teachers, in answering the prescriptions laid down by these guidelines have found a difficult to be creative given the time and the demands imposed by them. In responding to admonitions for them to be creative, teachers have often resorted to bringing in randomly selected task for the sake of variety and to avoid monotony. In a learner-centered curriculum, learning tasks are selected for the purpose of raising learner awareness and development of strategies while at the same time working on items in the language that would lead to better fluency.

Abstract

This study aims to design a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) on the topic of social arithmetic to address learning obstacles related to students’ computational thinking (CT) and self-regulated learning (SRL) abilities. Employing an Educational Design Research (EDR) approach, the study developed the Missouri Mathematics Open-Ended Problem-Based Learning (MiMOPBL) model supported by an e-module based on the Predict–Observe–Explain (POE) strategy. The HLT integrates CT and SRL by guiding students through prediction, observation, and explanation stages while solving open-ended contextual problems. Validation results confirmed that the instructional tools—including lesson plans, student worksheets, e-modules, CT and SRL instruments—are both valid and reliable. Content validity assessed using Aiken’s V showed values ranging from 0.80 to 0.98, while reliability testing using Cronbach’s Alpha indicated high internal consistency (SRL: α = 0.85; CT: α = 0.89; observation sheet: α = 0.88). These results indicate that the tools are suitable for use in mathematics classrooms. Although limited to the design phase and one topic, the study offers a structured, competency-based learning design that supports student engagement, problem-solving skills, and independent learning. Future research should explore the effectiveness of this learning design across various topics and student groups.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of workload and work stress on nurse performance by considering the role of nursing service quality as a mediating variable. The study was conducted at the Bluto Health Center, Sumenep Regency, which is one of the first-level public health service centers in the area. The research method used a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. A total of 37 nurses became research respondents. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) technique. The results showed that workload had a significant positive effect on the quality of nursing services (coefficient 0.461; p = 0.001) and nurse performance (coefficient 0.343; p = 0.003). Conversely, work stress had a significant negative impact on the quality of nursing services (coefficient -0.362; p = 0.02) but did not have a significant direct effect on nurse performance (coefficient -0.129; p = 0.290). In addition, the quality of nursing services is proven to have a significant positive effect on nurse performance (coefficient 0.526; p = 0.000). Furthermore, the quality of nursing services is proven to mediate the relationship between workload and work stress on performance. Workload increases performance through service quality (coefficient 0.243; p = 0.020), while work stress decreases performance through the same pathway (coefficient -0.191; p = 0.040). This study emphasizes the importance of managing workload and stress to improve nurse performance through improving the quality of nursing services.

Abstract

The M-Paspor application is an immigration service application. It is an application that is officially managed by the Directorate General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. With this online service system, people who wish to apply for passports do not need to come to the office and stand in line to make passports, now they only need to access the Directorate General of Immigration's website or this mobile-based application to submit an application. This study aims to evaluate and provide recommendations for user interface improvements that can be proposed to improve the user experience of the M-Paspor application. This research used the design thinking method. Design thinking itself consists of five stages, namely empathy, define, idea, prototype, and test. Some of the problems in the user experience of the M-Paspor application are the confusing flow and interface, the loading process takes too long, the information guide is not informative, the display is boring and inconsistent. The user experience of the M-Paspor application has been tested with 15 respondents through five usability test task scenarios. The test results shown that the average aspect of effectiveness is 100%, the average aspect of efficiency is 0.133 goals/second with a range of 0.197 goals/second, and the average aspect of user satisfaction is 5.1 with a range of 2.4 (from a scale of 1 to 7).

Abstract

Mathematics learning, particularly in geometry, is often perceived as abstract and less engaging by students, leading to reduced interest and creativity. One of the geometry topics that demands a more creative and concrete approach is the tessellation of flat shapes, which emphasizes the understanding of patterns, symmetry, and regularity of shapes. The absence of contextual learning media has contributed to students’ low enthusiasm and limited ability to apply concepts in real-life contexts. This community service activity was designed to address these challenges by enhancing students’ creativity and conceptual understanding through the use of ceramic media as an innovative and enjoyable learning tool. The program was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Rowosari, Tembalang District, Semarang City, involving mathematics teachers, elementary school students, and university students. The implementation method included training and mentoring sessions. Activities encompassed the introduction of tessellation concepts, hands-on demonstrations, and the guided creation of tessellation patterns using ceramic media. Participants consisted of teachers and students who actively engaged in both theoretical and practical sessions. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test questionnaires administered before and after the training. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ average scores after the activity. Pre-test data showed that approximately half of the students scored above the average, with two students achieving nearly perfect scores. Post-test results indicated that most students demonstrated increased understanding and creativity in applying tessellation concepts. Nevertheless, a small number of students still required further guidance, particularly in translating abstract tessellation concepts into real-life applications. Overall, the findings suggest that integrating ceramic media into mathematics learning is effective in making abstract geometry concepts more tangible, stimulating students’ creativity, and improving learning outcomes, especially in the topic of tessellation of flat shapes.

Abstract

The difference in mind styles is one of the challenges to improving students' mathematical creative thinking ability—learning activities with a project-based e-learning model as an alternative to solve problems. The research aims to describe mathematical creative thinking ability in Gregorc mind styles with a project-based e-learning model. Gregorc mind style consists of concrete sequential (CS), abstract sequential (AS), concrete random (CR), and abstract random (AR). The mixed research method begins with quantitative research and then continues qualitatively. This research was conducted on vector material for class X high school students. The sampling technique is a probabilistic stratified sampling type where samples are taken in each Gregorc mind style with proportions according to their presence in the population. Students with CS mind styles dominated the results of the study. At the same time, students with AS mind styles were not found. The ANOVA test showed a significance value of 0,952 > 0,05, so there was no difference in mathematical creative thinking abilities in Gregorc's mind styles. However, every student with different mind styles has different achievement aspects of mathematical creative thinking ability. Therefore, three subjects were taken using each Gregorc mind style in the qualitative research stage. Students with the CS mind style can achieve the elaboration aspect well, but the originality aspect cannot be completed well. On the other hand, the originality aspect can be achieved very well by students with an AR mind style.

Abstract

Enhancing Students' Mathematical Literacy through Ethnomathematics-Integrated Problem-Based Learning: A Study on Learning. This study addresses the issue of low mathematical literacy among junior high school students, particularly in relation to their learning independence. Objective: This study aims to (1) examine the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with an ethnomathematics approach in improving students’ mathematical literacy, (2) analyze the relationship between mathematical literacy and learning independence, and (3) analyze their literacy levels based on the degree of learning independence. This combination is important to investigate because it not only contextualizes mathematics within students’ cultural practices but also strengthens their learning independence, both of which are essential for the sustainable improvement of mathematical literacy. Method: A mixed-methods approach was employed using a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative analysis was conducted through a true experimental design with a posttest-only control group, while qualitative analysis was based on test results and interviews with students. Findings: The findings indicate that students in the experimental class using the ethnomathematics-based PBL model achieved higher mathematical literacy compared to those in the control class, which only used a Discovery Learning (DL) model. Additionally, learning independence has a positive effect on mathematical literacy. Students with high learning independence showed better fulfillment of literacy indicators, while those with medium and low learning independence showed varied levels of achievement in mathematical literacy. Conclusion: This study concludes that (1) the ethnomathematics-based PBL model is effective in improving mathematical literacy, (2) there is a relationship between mathematical literacy and learning independence, and (3) students with high, medium, and low learning independence have varying mathematical literacy. These findings highlight the importance of implementing a culturally integrated PBL model to enhance both cognitive and affective learning outcomes, while also emphasizing learning independence as an internal factor in supporting mathematical literacy development. Keywords: mathematical literacy, learning independence, PBL, ethnomathematics.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe high turnover intention rate poses a serious challenge for companies in retaining competent human resources. This phenomenon is clearly evident at CV. XYZ, a packaging manufacturing company in Cirebon, which has recorded a trend of increasing employee turnover year after year, peaking in 2024. Based on initial observations, poor work-life balance and low job satisfaction are suspected to be the main factors driving employees' intention to leave the company. This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance and job satisfaction on turnover intention. The method used is a quantitative approach with a saturated sampling technique applied to the entire population of CV. XYZ employees, totaling 70 individuals. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using IBM SPSS 25 software. The findings of this study indicate that work-life balance significantly influences turnover intention. Similarly, job satisfaction significantly influences turnover intention. Additionally, work-life balance and job satisfaction simultaneously significantly influence turnover intention. These findings emphasize the importance of companies creating a work environment that supports work-life balance and enhances job satisfaction to reduce turnover intention. This study only used two independent variables (work-life balance and job satisfaction) and one dependent variable (turnover intention).
