Abstract

Career guidance services have become an essential component of vocational education in preparing students to successfully transition into employment, higher education, or entrepreneurship. Nevertheless, the implementation of career development programs in SMKN 2 Pariaman has not yet been fully optimized due to limited program evaluation, inadequate industry collaboration, and insufficient support for students' career planning and career adaptability. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the student career strengthening program delivered through career guidance services using the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) evaluation model. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed at a public vocational high school involving twelfth-grade students who had participated in career guidance activities. The sample was determined using proportionate stratified random sampling, while data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire supported by document analysis. Descriptive statistical analysis, including mean, percentage, standard deviation, and frequency distribution, was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings revealed that the overall implementation of the career strengthening program was categorized as good, achieving an average score of 3.95 (78.90%). Among the four evaluation components, Context obtained the highest score (83.60%), indicating that the program was well aligned with school policies and students' career development needs. Meanwhile, the Product component recorded the lowest score (75.80%), suggesting that students' career readiness, career decision-making, and career adaptability require further enhancement. The study concludes that the CIPP evaluation model provides a comprehensive framework for assessing career guidance programs and generates practical recommendations for improving career services through stronger industry partnerships, systematic career assessment, and technology-enhanced guidance practices, thereby supporting graduates' employability and lifelong career development.

Abstract

Abstract: The quality of vehicle body painting results is largely determined by the condition of the compressed air used during the spraying process. Compressor air containing water vapor can cause various surface defects such as blistering, pinholing, orange peel, and fisheye, which directly reduce the gloss level of the paint surface. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using a water trap in the compressor air system on improving painting quality, measured through gloss values using a gloss meter. A quantitative experimental method was employed with two treatment groups: painting without a water trap and painting with a water trap, each tested three times. Results showed that the average gloss value without a water trap was 98 GU, while with a water trap it was 103.33 GU, representing an increase of 5.44%. An independent t-test revealed a significant difference (t = 7.99; Sig. = 0.001 0.05). It is concluded that the use of a water trap significantly improves painting quality by enhancing the atomization process through reduced moisture content in compressed air. Keywords: Water trap, Gloss meter, Painting, Compressor Air, Atomization.

Abstract

Effective learning should be designed to be active, contextual, and student-centered in order to foster both conceptual understanding and procedural skills. However, teacher-centered instructional practices often limit students’ active participation, resulting in low retention and difficulties in applying theory to practical contexts. This study aims to analyze and examine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by video media on students’ learning outcomes in the Basic Electrical Engineering course. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, involving 60 tenth-grade students from the Electrical Power Installation program who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected using a multiple-choice achievement test that had undergone validity and reliability testing and were analyzed using an independent samples t-test to identify differences in posttest mean scores. The results indicated that the group taught through video-assisted PBL achieved significantly higher posttest scores than the group taught using conventional lecture methods, with a moderate effect size. These findings suggest that integrating PBL with structured video media effectively enhances learning outcomes in vocational education. The study implies the importance of implementing problem-based instructional strategies supported by visual media to strengthen instructional quality and promote innovation in vocational learning environments.
