Abstract

Macronutrient content of post-exercise meal is a fundamental for achieving optimal recovery following exercise training. This study aimed to analyze the effects of a high-fat meal consumed after training on blood glucose and pressure levels in young male soccer athletes. Furthermore, examining the relationship among body composition variables was a secondary objective. A pre-post intervention study was conducted with 34 male soccer athletes (age: 16 ± 0.8 years). Participants consumed a high-fat meal (-45% of total intake 1061 kcal) immediately after strenuous training. Blood samples were collected at baseline, immediately post-training, and 1 h post-training to assess trends in blood glucose and pressure levels. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) was used to measure participant characteristics. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way repeated measures ANOVA followed by post hoc Bonferroni tests to determine significant differences between groups. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationships among the body composition variables. The average skeletal muscle mass and body fat percentage were approximately 59% and 24.6%, respectively. Glucose levels remained unchanged immediately after training but increased significantly by ~17% (p < 0.001) 1 h later. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) decreased by ~5% (p = 0.03) at 1 h post-training, while diastolic blood pressure (DBP) exhibited minimal change (p = 0.06). A correlation analysis indicated an inverse relationship between body mass and skeletal muscle mass, contrasting with the linear relationship between body mass and body fat. The results suggest that a high-fat meal consumed after exercise may lead to an increase in glucose levels 1 h post-exercise. The slight reduction in SBP observed 1 h post-training may represent a normal physiological response to exercise. Since the current study did not have the exercise-only group, further research is needed to confirm whether the change of the blood glucose levels was mainly from the diet.

Abstract

Determination of cropping patterns in rainfed paddy fields is very necessary so that crop failure can be avoided and to maximize profits for farmers. The study aimed to obtain cropping patterns in rainfed lowland areas that can produce high yields and increase farmer incomes. The research was carried out in Tonusu Village, Pamona Puselemba District, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The research was conducted from January 2018 to December 2018, the research consisted of cropping patterns and variety rotation during two growing seasons, namely the rainy season (MH) and the dry season (MK). Planting pattern of paddy farmers - bero (IP.100) and rice cropping pattern - paddy (IP.200. Introduction pattern). The results showed that: Farming analysis of IP 100 and IP 200 Tonusu Village, Pamona Puselemba District, Poso Regency scale per hectare At MT. I and MT. II can provide a profit of Rp. 15,130,000, - with an R/C: Ratio of 3.01 to farmers (IP 200) per MT. The value of farming on the farmer's pattern (IP 100) provides a profit of IDR 10,170,000 with an R/C: Ratio of 1.77.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of weekly structured speaking routines (WSR) on the improvement of students' oral communication skills in an English language learning context. The primary aim was to assess whether these routines could enhance students' speaking fluency, confidence, and reduce speaking anxiety. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with pre-test and post-test assessments used to measure speaking proficiency before and after the intervention. Observational notes and surveys were also collected to provide qualitative insights into the students' experiences. The results indicated that weekly speaking routines significantly increased students' confidence in speaking English, with notable reductions in anxiety. Students reported enjoying the speaking activities, which encouraged active participation and peer interactions, fostering a more collaborative and supportive learning environment. However, while fluency improvements were acknowledged, the progress was less pronounced, indicating the need for additional fluency-focused interventions. The study found that structured speaking tasks helped students engage in discussions, express opinions, and use more complex language structures. This research contributes to the field by highlighting the importance of consistent, routine-based speaking practices in second language acquisition. It provides valuable insights for educators seeking to improve oral communication skills through structured speaking routines. Future research could focus on refining these routines to address specific challenges in fluency development and investigate long-term impacts on students’ language proficiency.

Abstract

Several studies state the need to develop information technology to disseminate information related to culture in Indonesia. There are many similar studies but they still have weaknesses, one of which is that they do not use machine learning and intelligent computing. This research answers the challenges of previous researchers, namely developing machine learning-based learning applications using the Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Application Noise (DBSCAN) and Frequent Pattern Growth (FP-Growth) algorithms. The results of the modeling of the two algorithms are deemed to still require improvement in the future, as it is proven that DBSCAN does not yet have optimal validity. So in this research, one of the comparison algorithms is used, namely K-Means Clustering, with a better evaluation than DBSCAN. The modeling results were implemented into mobile programming as a cultural learning application in Indonesia, especially Riau Malay Culture, the black box testing results had an accuracy of 100% and the User Acceptance Test (UAT) was 86%. Thus, it is concluded that this application can be used effectively and efficiently for general users.

Abstract

Disease prevention is very important in the rearing of barramundi larvae, one of which is by sterilizing the seawater using technical chlorine. This study aimed to determine the effect of seawater sterlization use technical chlorine for rearing barramundi larvae on growth, survival, and water quality. The treatment in this study was different seawater used for water exchange during larval rearing. Seawater was sterilized with 25 ppm technical chlorine for 24 hours. Before use, the water was neutralized using 12.5 ppm sodium thiosulfate. As a control in this study, direct seawater or untreated sea water was used for water exchange. The study was conducted with 3 replications. The parameters observed in this study were growth, survival, virus monitoring, growth variation, and water quality. Sterilization of seawater with 25 ppm technical chlorine used for rearing larvae of barramundi has no significant effect on growth, survival, growth variation and water quality of rearing larvae. The use of filtered seawater is recommended in the sterilization of seawater for rearing larvae of barramundi. Increasing the dose of chlorine or using chlorine which has a high active substance could increase effectiveness of water sterilization. Keywords:Technical chlorineSterilizationRearing larvaeBarramundiLates calcarifer
