Abstract

As a country with a majority Muslim population, Indonesia is here to give birth to a rich cultural treasure wrapped in Islamic nuances such as sholawat. Reading prayers within a religious framework is a form of praying for the Prophet Muhammad. The community of Sholawat Lovers, called the Sholawat Mafia, has diverse backgrounds, ranging from low levels of education, free association, and a lack of understanding of religion. In fact, it is not uncommon for this community to have arrogant attitudes such as fighting, dancing excessively during prayers, and even wearing inappropriate clothing. From this existing phenomenon, the author is interested in finding out the spirituality of the sholawat mafia congregation and analyzing it using Social Construction theory, with three stages, namely externalization, objectification and internalization. At each stage the author examines using 3 basic areas of Islam, namely Aqidah, sharia and morals. The externalization stage refers to the adaptation of the sholawat mafia community towards their intention to attend prayer activities, to obtain the blessings of Allah's grace and the Prophet's intercession. The objectification stage refers to understanding the existence of Allah, Allah's books, Prophets and Allah's angels. Apart from that, the objectification of the three basic principles of Islam is also formed by an attitude of solidarity between congregations which becomes a process of friendship. Meanwhile, the internalization stage is the result of the social form of the two stages. At this stage, the Sholawat mafia congregation feels peace of mind when praying. The Sholawat mafia does not discriminate between fellow humans. They consider that humans are in the wrong place and sin, so they should continue to be aware and compete in goodness.

Abstract

Water demand for the agricultural sector in island regions continues to increase in line with population growth and land-use intensification (Kodoatie, 1996; Todd & Mays, 2005). One sustainable alternative for water supply is the utilization of groundwater, particularly deep aquifers. This study aims to identify the potential and characteristics of subsurface aquifers using the geoelectrical resistivity method with a Schlumberger configuration in Bungayya Village, Bontomatenne District, Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Measurements were conducted at a single vertical electrical sounding (VES) point (GL_01) with a maximum current electrode spacing of AB/2 up to 100 m. The inversion results indicate two main subsurface layers: a surface limestone layer with resistivity values ranging from 126 to 1515.1 Ωm at depths of 0–15 m, and a sandstone layer of the Walanae Formation with resistivity values of 10–126 Ωm at depths of 15–70 m. The sandstone layer is interpreted as a deep aquifer capable of storing and transmitting freshwater with sufficient discharge for agricultural irrigation. Based on the interpretation results, groundwater drilling is recommended to a depth of approximately 70 m. The findings demonstrate that the geoelectrical resistivity method is effective as a preliminary approach for groundwater exploration, particularly in areas characterized by carbonate and sedimentary geological conditions (Telford et al., 1990; Loke, 2000).

Abstract

This study aims to describe digital literacy-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning to foster students' literacy in religious information. The research method used is a qualitative library research approach. Data were collected from various written sources such as books, scientific journals, articles, and other relevant documents. Data analysis techniques employed content analysis and critical analysis to examine the concepts, strategies, and implications of integrating digital literacy into PAI learning in depth. The findings indicate that: 1) Integrating digital literacy into PAI is essential to build students’ immunity against religious hoaxes through a paradigm reorientation, where PAI serves as an “immunity laboratory”; 2) An effective implementation strategy is the blended learning model integrated with critical analysis of social media content; 3) The success of implementation depends on strengthening the digital competency of PAI teachers, who must transform from “sources of knowledge” to “digital content curators.” The significance of this study lies in providing a conceptual and strategic framework to bridge the gap between students’ digital reality and conventional PAI learning practices, thereby enhancing students' ability to filter, analyze, and responsibly engage with religious information in digital spaces.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the objectives of teaching the Arabic conversation course and examine the extent to which they align with the Reference Framework for Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages (Al-Imtāʿ) at Al-Raudhah Al-Hasanah College of Educational Sciences in Medan. This research is a library-based study employing a qualitative, descriptive approach. The primary data consist of the teaching plan for the Conversation course and the Reference Framework for Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages (Al-Imtāʿ), while the secondary data include relevant books, scholarly articles, and related training materials. Data were collected through documentation and interviews. The data analysis technique used was content analysis, conducted in three stages: data collection, classification, and alignment with the Reference Framework for Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages (Al-Imtāʿ). The findings indicate that the Conversation course at Al-Raudhah Al-Hasanah College of Educational Sciences in Medan primarily focuses on speaking skills through productive oral expression. Conversation I includes 19 objectives, Conversation II 16 objectives, and Conversation III 16 objectives, which emphasize students’ abilities in narration, expression, explanation, discussion, presentation, and presentation writing. Overall, these objectives align with only 6 of the 24 descriptors of the Reference Framework for Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages (Al-Imtāʿ). Several objectives align with the Preparatory, Proficiency, and Distinction levels; however, the course objectives were not fully aligned with the framework, as they include writing-related objectives and fail to address 18 of its descriptors.

Abstract

The importance of teacher communication in creating communicative, interactive, and responsive interactions during classroom learning with students. This certainly makes language in speech an important tool as a means of communication in conveying learning materials, giving instructions, directing, and motivating students during the learning process. The use of appropriate speech can increase student interaction and involvement during the learning process. Pragmalinguistics is a combination of two disciplines of pragmatics and linguistics. In communication activities, pragmalinguistics has an important role related to language politeness and sentence structures used in communication. The purpose of this article is to describe teacher speech acts in the process of learning Indonesian in the classroom. The research method uses a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through classroom observation. The study was conducted during Indonesian language learning for grade VII junior high school students. The subjects of this study were Indonesian language teachers and grade VII students of SMP Negeri 37 Semarang City. Data analysis was carried out by categorizing speech acts based on Lech's theory of locution, illocution, and perlocution. The research results show that the pragmalinguistics of Indonesian language teachers' speech in junior high school learning include several speech acts, including illocutionary acts to convey information, commands, and questions. Illocutionary acts are used to give orders, requests, or express emotions. Perlocutionary acts are used to influence students to take action. These three speech acts support effective learning interactions in the classroom.

Abstract

This study examines the existence of women in Muhidin Dahlan’s novel Tuhan, Ijinkan Aku Menjadi Pelacur (God, Let Me Become a Prostitute) using Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist feminist perspective. The focus of the study is on the representation of female characters within patriarchal power relations, religious ideology, and social pressures that limit their freedom and autonomy. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of female existence portrayed in the novel. The method employed is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through literature review and textual analysis. The analysis is conducted based on Beauvoir’s four strategies of female existence: women as workers, women as intellectuals, women as agents of social transformation, and women who reject otherness. The results indicate that the female characters experience objectification and subordination within the patriarchal system. However, through self-awareness, critical thinking, and reflective actions, they strive to escape these constraints and assert themselves as free subjects. This novel represents women’s struggles to construct their existence and freedom amid social and ideological pressures.

Abstract

This comparative study explored the implementation of Mahārah Kalām (Arabic speaking skills) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Indonesia, and Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), Brunei Darussalam, focusing on learning strategies, language environments, and contextual factors influencing language acquisition. A qualitative approach was employed, including document analysis, classroom observations, and semi-structured interviews with lecturers and students. The findings revealed that both institutions prioritized communicative competence through interaction with native speakers and the implementation of bi’ah lughawiyah. UIN Sunan Kalijaga applied bi’ah lughawiyah, project-based learning, and student activity units to mitigate first language interference, while UNISSA integrated bi’ah lughawiyah, cultural activities, Arabic language camps, and direct engagement with native speakers. Despite differences in pedagogical approaches and assessment systems, both universities effectively enhanced students’ confidence, motivation, and speaking proficiency. The study underscored the importance of immersive and culturally responsive learning environments in Arabic language education, offering insights for designing effective curricula to improve students’ oral communication skills across diverse sociolinguistic contexts.
