Abstract

Fiqh learning in many Indonesian madrasahs continues to rely heavily on teacher-centered methods, resulting in limited student participation and low problem-solving ability despite national data indicating that 62% of junior secondary students fall into the low category in analytical competencies. This study addresses the persistent gap between the theoretical objectives of Fiqh as an applied discipline and the predominance of lecture-based instruction at MTs Muhammadiyah Blimbing, where preliminary observations revealed that only 22% of students were able to apply Fiqh rulings to real-life cases. The research aims to analyze the conceptual alignment and practical implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model, with particular attention to its planning, classroom enactment, and evaluation processes. Using a qualitative field research design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with the Fiqh teacher, and documentation analysis. Findings show that PBL was systematically planned through the preparation of contextual problem worksheets, structured group arrangements, and lesson plans aligned with PBL principles. Classroom implementation demonstrated increased student engagement, with students actively identifying problems, locating textual evidence, and discussing solutions, although participation remained uneven across groups. The evaluation phase combined process-based and summative assessments, revealing strong cognitive mastery but variable argumentation quality. Overall, PBL contributed positively to contextualizing Fiqh concepts and strengthening students’ analytical competence, indicating the need for enhanced scaffolding strategies, improved assessment design, and institutional support to ensure more equitable learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Qur'anic learning methods implemented at Rumah Tahsin dan Tahfizh (RTT) Al Birru, Bolon Branch, with a focus on the application of talaqqi and talqin methods. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving instructors and learners. The study investigates how these methods shape students' learning experiences and memorization outcomes. Findings indicate that the implementation of talaqqi and talqin fosters direct interaction between teachers and learners, ensuring accurate pronunciation and more profound comprehension of Qur'anic verses. In addition, structured repetition and individualized correction contribute to more effective tahsin and tahfizh processes. This study contributes to the academic discourse by presenting empirical evidence of the continued relevance of classical Qur'anic pedagogy in modern non-formal education settings. The results highlight the potential of integrating traditional methods with contemporary learning management to enhance engagement and retention. It is recommended that further research explore comparative effectiveness across different institutions, as well as the integration of digital tools to support classical approaches. The study affirms that contextually adapted traditional methods remain effective in producing meaningful Qur’anic literacy among learners.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to systematically map the scholarly landscape of inclusive Islamic education, particularly Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for children with special needs (CWSN), by identifying trends, key themes, influential authors, and patterns of collaboration in the literature. Design/methods/approach – A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 154 Scopus-indexed journal articles published between 2003 and 2025. The data were extracted on July 19, 2025, at 8:50 p.m., using a refined Boolean search strategy. The corpus was limited to Scopus-indexed journal articles published in English, and only journal articles were included based on the document filter. The extracted data were analyzed using R, RStudio, VOSviewer, and Microsoft Excel to assess publication metrics, co-authorship networks, and keyword evolution. Findings – The results show a significant increase in research output after 2019, with Southeast Asian countries—particularly Indonesia and Malaysia—leading in contributions. Dominant themes include inclusive education, Islamic pedagogy, and children with special needs, while emerging themes such as pluralism, citizenship, and social justice reflect a shift toward more justice-oriented and contextually grounded discourse. However, international collaboration remains limited, and the theoretical integration between Islamic epistemology and inclusive education principles appears underdeveloped. Research implications – The findings highlight the need for more interdisciplinary and globally collaborative research in this domain. Future studies should bridge Islamic theological principles with inclusive pedagogical frameworks and expand beyond English-language and Scopus-indexed publications to achieve a more holistic understanding of inclusive Islamic education.

Abstract

Background: Elementary school-age children need to get reproductive health information, but parents still have negative perceptions and a lack of knowledge about reproductive health in elementary school children. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using flash cards as educational media to improve parents' knowledge and perceptions of reproductive health education in elementary school-age children. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted with a pretest-posttest control group design in June 2024. The participants in this research were parents of children in grades 1-3 at two elementary schools in Kartasura, with 32 people in the experimental group and 32 in the control group. Statistical analysis used a paired t-test for knowledge, and a Wilcoxon signed rank test for perception. The effectiveness of flashcards on parents' knowledge was tested with an independent t-test, and perception was tested with the Mann-Whitney U test.  The significance level was 5%. Results: The result was an increase in the mean score of knowledge (p-value<0.001) and perception (p-value=0.023) in the intervention group. The mean score did not increase in the control group on these variables. The intervention and control groups differed in parents’ average knowledge (p-value=0.0496) and perception (p-value=0.0036) regarding reproductive health. Conclusions: Flashcards effectively improved parents' knowledge and perceptions about reproductive health education.

Abstract

Objective: Education plays a pivotal role in developing human potential and internalizing moral values, particularly through non-formal institutions like the Al-Qur'an Education Park (TPQ). This study aims to analyze the challenges and strategies in internalizing Islamic educational values at TPQ Ar-Ridho Mosque, focusing on the methods employed and obstacles encountered. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework draws on principles of Islamic education and its relevance to sustainable development goals (SDGs), emphasizing character-building aligned with Qur'anic teachings. Literature Review: A comprehensive literature review highlights the significance of TPQ in shaping students' moral character and the necessity of structured curricula to ensure effective learning. Methods: This research employs a qualitative approach to explore the internalization of Islamic education values at TPQ Ar-Ridho Mosque. Data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews with educators and parents, and analysis of institutional documentation. Results: The findings reveal that TPQ Ar-Ridho plays a crucial role in character formation by implementing a structured curriculum grounded in Qur'anic values. However, challenges such as limited family involvement and inadequate infrastructure impede optimal educational outcomes. The study identifies that overcoming these challenges requires developing a curriculum tailored to Qur'anic educational standards and fostering active parental engagement. Collaboration among administrators, teachers, students, and parents, combined with regular evaluations, is essential to enhance the quality of education. These efforts align with the SDGs, particularly in promoting inclusive and equitable quality education. Implications: The implications of this research underscore the necessity of strengthening non-formal education systems to ensure moral and character development in young learners. It advocates for policies and practices that support TPQ's infrastructure and family participation, ensuring these institutions serve as effective agents of moral education. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in integrating the concept of Qur'anic education with SDG principles to propose a sustainable model for TPQ development.
