Abstract

This study emphasized the critical role of teaching presence in enhancing student engagement and fostering a sense of community in blended business English learning environments. As blended learning becomes increasingly popular, understanding how instructors' active participation, feedback, and facilitation impact student outcomes is essential. The research utilized a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews among university-level business English students and their instructors. Key findings revealed that a strong teaching presence boosted student participation, while constructive feedback motivated improved performance. Additionally, effective facilitation by instructors helped create supportive communities, encouraging collaboration and teamwork among students. These insights underscore the importance of active instructor involvement in blended learning to maximize educational outcomes. Educators are advised to maintain high levels of teaching presence and leverage feedback to stimulate dynamic student interactions, thereby fostering an engaging and cohesive learning environment. This study contributes practical recommendations for optimizing business English instruction in mixed-mode settings. The sample size was the obvious limitation to address to yield a more reliable study result.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze Development Planning and Green Economic Growth in Indonesia. Environmental damage and low public awareness of the environment encourage the need for sustainable development. Environmental damage occurs due to high exploitation of natural resources to meet economic interests without being followed by awareness to protect the environment. This research method uses a quantitative research design, considering that the variables studied are in the form of numbers that are processed using statistical methods. Testing of this variable uses the Panel Least Squares method data processing, the results of which will be interpreted to see the effect of the tested variables on the dependent variable. This test uses the variables of carbon emission growth, economic growth, population growth, and human development index on the Environmental Quality Index. The results of the study indicate that carbon emission growth and economic growth have a significant negative effect on the environmental quality index. Population does not affect the environmental quality index, while the Human Development Index has a significant positive effect on the environmental quality index. The implication of this study is that the government needs to maintain economic growth by paying attention to environmental conditions and minimizing carbon emissions so that environmental quality can be maintained. The quality of human capital also needs to be continuously improved so that public awareness of the importance of environmental quality.

Abstract

Indonesia is second on the list of countries contributing the most plastic waste globally, after China. This condition occurs because of the high number of household demands for FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) products, most of which are packaged using plastic. Society needs action to reduce plastic waste. Sustainable marketing is a socially and environmentally responsible marketing principle that meets the needs of today's consumers and businesses. Sustainable marketing also preserves and ensures that future generations can meet their needs. This approach aims to positively impact the environment in a sustainable marketing scheme in Indonesia. This research aims to measure consumer acceptance of zero-waste stores and prioritize optimal business activities based on sustainable marketing. Collecting respondent data used a mixed method and a purposive sampling method. Data collection uses questionnaires for consumers and in-depth interviews with related parties, namely, the government, academics, and business managers. Research data processing uses the CSI (customer satisfaction index) method to measure consumer acceptance. Data analysis was carried out based on sustainable marketing attributes. The object of this research is zero-waste shops in Yogyakarta, namely Peony Ecohouse and Vert Terre. The research results show that consumer acceptance falls into the criteria of satisfaction with zero-waste store activities. Zero-waste store activities with sustainable marketing based on customer-oriented marketing (C-OM) and customer-value marketing (C-VM) assessments show positive values, meaning that activities in zero-waste stores directly impact consumers. The recommended business activity priorities are promoting and strengthening information regarding environmentally friendly zero-waste stores through direct events and social media, maintaining product price stability, maintaining continuous product availability,  and providing quality products.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ARI) in Indonesia always ranks as the first cause of death and also often be the 10 most common diseases in hospitals and health centers. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between the physical environment of the house and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior with the incidence of ARI in toddlers. This research is analytical observational research with a cross-sectional approach. It was conducted in Matan Jaya Village, North Kayong Regency starting in June 2023 with a population aged 1 - ≤ 5 years of 114 toddlers and sample 53 respondents. The research found that ventilation 33.5%, lighting 54.7%, humidity 56.6%, residential density 77.4% did not meet the requirements, while temperature (71.7%) met the requirements. The behavior of not washing hands was 75.5%, and 79.2% of toddlers had family who smoked. Hence, there is a relationship between ventilation, lighting, humidity, residential density, hand washing and smoking behavior. There is no relationship between temperature and the incidence of ARI. It is recommended to open the windows of the house so there is air circulation and sunlight comes in, it can reduce the humidity and reduce the risk of suffering ARI.

Abstract

Bridging Language Barriers in Law Enforcement: A Study on the English Language Needs of Indonesian Police Officers. Objective: Policemen more often communicate in English when dealing with non-nationals, cooperating internationally, or dealing with international crime in general. However, in Indonesia, where English is used as a foreign language and is not widely used in society, achieving working proficiency becomes a significant challenge. The present study addresses the English language learning needs of police officers working in operational duties and responsibilities within a district-level police unit in West Java Province, Indonesia. Method: Data was collected through a qualitative case study involving 30 rank-and-file officers. These three types of data were gathered via in-depth interviews, structured questionnaires, and workplace observations. This approach provided a full picture of the linguistic difficulties as well as the language required for the task. Findings: The Results indicate that, despite their low level of English proficiency, most officers acknowledge the language as fundamental for a significant portion of their work, including daily interactions with foreign visitors, writing reports to support cases involving foreign nationals, and situations requiring knowledge of legal and procedural terminology in cross-border contexts.. The needs analysis identifies three key areas for growth: oral skills for basic conversation and emergencies, reading and writing skills for writing police reports, and proficiency in English documentation, as well as an understanding of specialized legal vocabulary relevant to policing. Conclusion/Implications: As a result, an English for Specific Purposes, task-based, and contextualised training program is proposed based on these findings. This would enhance the officers’ performance in the field, improve public service quality, and bolster Indonesia’s engagement in international law enforcement networks. Keywords: english for specific purposes, law enforcement training, needs analysis, operational language skill, police communication.
