Abstract

After then, the economic effect of the certification will be analyzed using Propensity Score Matching (PSM) based on significant factors that influence farmers to participate in the certification. To reach that aims, a survey is conducted to 162 Lintong coffee farmers, consisting of 81 people who participate in certification and 81 people who do not participate in the certification. PSM in this research is conducted through psmatch 2 and the nearest neighbor method. Based on the logit analysis, some factors like famers’ age, area, the number of family member, and income outside coffee farming significantly influence farmers’ participation in the certification. The analysis on the effect of certification based on psmatch 2 and the nearest neighbor method after balancing test shows that the variable costs is increase significantly, while the increase in productivity and coffee farming income was not significant.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on various economic sectors, one of which is the agricultural sector. This important role of the agricultural sector often ignores the socio-economic conditions of the farmer's household. This research aims to analyze the degree of food security of farmer households during of the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used is the descriptive quantitative method using income and expenditure variables of farmers' households in the last month. The results showed that calculation of the structure of the household income of farmers is dominated by the structure of income from farming by 82.63 %, while the rest comes from non-farming by 17.37 %. Then for the expenditure structure of farmer households, non-food expenditures are greater than food expenditures, which is 59 % compared to food expenditures of 41 %. This gives an understanding that farmers' income is quite high and tends to spend their income to meet needs outside of food (non-food). By using indicators of food security, namely the level of food subsistence and the share of food expenditure, then farmer households in Kebasen District, Banyumas Regency are classified as high or food Unresistant during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the demand and its elasticity for marine fish in the South Cilacap Sub-District, Cilacap Regency. For data collection, interviews and questionnaires were used with respondents consisting of 100 households, while the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) was used for analysis. According to the results, the demand for marine fish was influenced by several factors, namely price, fish expenditure, income, number of family members, and tastes. Also, the price of elasticity of the four fish commodities was inelastic. Income elasticity of tuna, skipjack, and squid were inferior goods, while shrimp were luxury goods. The cross-price elasticity of the four fish commodities is more complementary. This research suggests that the relevant government agencies must improve facilities and infrastructure to maintain the quality and availability of fresh marine fish commodities. The Government through related departments or managers of local Fish Auction Places (TPI) need to improve facilities and infrastructure as well as improve infrastructure, for example providing fish coolers so that quality is maintained and ensuring the availability of fresh marine fish commodities can be maintained. Furthermore, the gemarikan program (love eating fish program) can be maximized to increase the taste and awareness, and interest of the people of Cilacap Regency in consuming marine fish as a side dish.

Abstract

Indonesia pepper, contributing 11% of the U.S. market, is below Vietnam as a significant supplier and is followed by Brazil. Based on the growth rate of Indonesian pepper exports to the U.S. market, Indonesia is second after Vietnam. Indonesian pepper exports to the American market have limitations, and competition exists between the countries exporting pepper. The research used the export of a sort of whole black pepper. This study aims to determine Indonesian black pepper's competitiveness and demand position in the U.S. market. The performance of Indonesia's black pepper exports to the U.S. market was analyzed using the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) method, export product dynamics (EPD), and the almost ideal demand system (AIDS) method. The dependent variable is the share of Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil, and India, and the independent variable is the price of pepper from the countries. The analysis results show that black pepper has comparative and competitive competitiveness. Indonesian black pepper has the highest expenditure elasticity, elastic price elasticity, and cross elasticity; it is a substitute for Vietnam and complementary to Brazil and India. Indonesian black pepper has good export performance and a high demand for imports, so Indonesia has the potential to increase exports by increasing the export volume of quality pepper at competitive prices, according to what the U.S. market wants.

Abstract

Porang rice, as imitation rice made from porang tubers, can be used as a substitute for white rice because it contains low calories and high fiber. In Indonesia, the marketing of porang rice and related research is still limited.  This research aims to determine the characteristics of respondents and the factors that influence interest in buying porang rice, as well as recommendations for marketing strategies based on the research results. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and SEM-PLS. The sample used was selected using a non-probability sampling method using a purposive sampling technique. The number of respondents obtained was 112 respondents. The research results found that the knowledge and status of respondents who were on a calorie diet were the main characteristics of respondents regarding their interest in buying porang rice. Subjective norms and perceived behavioral control directly influence interest in buying porang rice. Product availability indirectly influences interest in buying porang rice through perceived behavioral control. Recommendations for manufacturers' marketing strategies include providing information about low calories and high fiber on their packaging and promotional media, expanding their partner network with retail stores that are frequently visited by the public, and maximizing sales using e-commerce.
