Abstract

Negative interactions between elephants and humans can cause harm to both parties, one of the efforts made is the implementation of the Elephant Response Unit (ERU) in helping to handle negative interactions between Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus) and humans. This study aims to determine the activities and tasks of the Elephant Response Unit (ERU) in handling negative interactions in the area around Way Kambas National Park (TNWK). Data collection was carried out by conducting observations, open interviews and collecting documentation in the form of photos of activities. The research includes direct observation of the border between forest areas and buffer villages, forest security patrols, expulsion of wild elephants and care for tame elephants. The results from direct observations show that there is no infrastructure such as canals and embankments that are evenly distributed in the area around TNWK and the lack of active participation of the community in several buffer villages in helping to handle negative interactions. Security patrol activities are in the form of tracking to identify and look for the presence of illegal activities carried out by humans in forest areas and elephant eviction patrols using tame elephants to repel wild elephants. The management of activities carried out by the Elephant Response Unit (ERU) is very important because it can help handle negative interactions between elephants and humans and safeguard forest areas.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of synergy and collaboration in bank profitability optimization strategies, with a qualitative focus on branch leaders within the working area of the BRI Regional Office Padang. In-depth interview results reveal that cross-segment and inter-unit synergy and collaboration are strategic elements that form the foundation for addressing the increasingly complex dynamics of the banking industry. Synergy is understood as the alignment of direction and goals among work units, while collaboration is seen as the concrete implementation of integrated cooperation, such as joint canvassing, cross-segment customer referrals, and collective management of data pipelines/leads.These synergistic practices have been proven to enhance financial performance, including growth in Third-Party Funds (DPK), expansion of productive loans, reduction of Non-Performing Loans (NPL), and customer acquisition through local ecosystem development. However, the main challenges in implementation include sectoral egos, differing target segmentations, and siloed mindsets. Branch leaders address these challenges through motivational approaches, team-based reward systems, integration of collaborative Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and support from digital infrastructure. These findings affirm that synergy and collaboration are not merely managerial complements but strategic foundations for creating sustainable profitability and enhancing customer satisfaction within BRI. The study also emphasizes that synergy and collaboration are not just operational tools, but organizational cultures that must be continuously nurtured to holistically support the bank’s profitability.

Abstract

The utilization of biomass as a co-firing fuel in coal-fired power plants is a strategic element in Indonesia’s energy transition. A key challenge lies in accurately assessing the price feasibility of biomass fuel (B3m) and ensuring policy compliance. This study presents a Python-based Decision Support System (DSS) equipped with a graphical user interface (GUI) to compute and evaluate the Highest Benchmark Price (HPT) of B3m adaptively, including a maximum price coefficient (k =1.2). The system was tested using 12 actual proposals from B3m suppliers in Riau Province. Results indicate that 58.3% of offers complied with regulatory thresholds, with wood-based B3m proving generally more competitive than palm-based feedstocks. The system enables automated and transparent price feasibility classification. These findings highlight the potential of localized Python-based computational tools to support economic evaluation of renewable energy deployment.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the histopathological changes in the pseudo-pregnant rabbit uterus concerning the duration of ovaries inside the uterus during ovarian transplantation. The study used nine New Zealand White (NZW) pseudo-pregnant female rabbits aged 3-5 years, weighed 1.5-2.9 kg. After a 30-day adaptation period, all rabbits were divided into three treatment groups: K1 (n=3) underwent ovarian transplantation for 3 days, K2 (n=3) for 5 days, and K3 (n=3) for 7 days. Pseudo-pregnant was induced using PMSG and hCG. The rabbits were intramuscularly injected with 100 IU of PMSG, followed by intravenous injection of 75 IU of hCG three days later. Ovary transplantation was performed on the 8th day (day 0 being the day of hCG injection). Uterus was collected after the transplantation procedure according to the respective treatment groups. The results showed that in K1, K2 and K3, there was hyperemia in the endometrial epithelium and infiltration of inflammatory cells. Hyperemia and necrosis were more severe in K1 compared to K2 and K3. In K3, the histopathological appearance of the endometrium tended to be normal, with less damage. In conclusion, the histopathological findings of hyperemia and necrosis in the uterus undergoing ovarian transplantation lasted for 3 days compared to 5 and 7 days.
