Abstract

The presence of digital technology in the community has had a significant impact on the patterns of life behavior of urban and rural communities. Pangandaran is a new district in West Java, still has many developing villages. In developing villages, there is also exposure to increasingly massive digital communication used by the community. The involvement of the millennial generation as part of the village community in the digital era can provide open and innovative development opportunities to develop the potential of the village-owned. Based on this information, the implementation of community service in the village of Purbahayu was carried out by choosing the theme of online media training for millennial generations in order to improve information literacy in development using lecture, discussion, and simulation methods through the demonstration learning model approach. The results of the implementation of community service show that the millennial generation in Purbahayu village has increased knowledge that is evident from the many questions surrounding the use and use of online media for the development of village potential. Whereas behaviorally, the millennial generation in Purbahayu village has been exposed to various business services and financial services by the millennial generation habits in urban areas.

Abstract

Studies of Islamic work culture generally assume that religious values are best transmitted by leaders sharing the majority's faith. This ethnographic study questions this assumption by examining PT X, a sharia-oriented startup where a Christian Chief Operating Officer (COO) models and enforces Manhaj Salaf principles. Using NVivo-assisted analysis integrating Hymes, Philipsen, and Schein, we investigate how this minority leader communicates and internalizes a majority-religion code. Findings reveal that to navigate a tense environment marked by collective employee silence and harsh CEO directives, the COO employs a protective communication strategy. He acts as a structural "brake pedal," softening top-down messages and migrating reprimands to private channels to preserve employees' communal social faces. Crucially, the COO internalizes the Islamic code through deliberate functional reasoning such as reframing prayer as focus renewal rather than dogmatic compliance. This functionally driven internalization expands Philipsen’s fourth proposition: identity difference forecloses automatic meaning-making, compelling deeper, deliberative engagement with a speech code. Ultimately, cross-faith value internalization depends on functional alignment and consistent leadership behavior, rather than solely on shared religious identity.

Abstract

The growing halal industry and digital marketplace have reshaped Gen Z consumer behaviour, leading their purchase patterns to blend Islamic values with digital lifestyles. Although existing studies have examined Islamic marketing, product quality, and online consumer behaviour separately, limited research has modelled their combined effects on purchase decisions within a sharia-compliant framework. This study addresses this gap by developing a quantitative model that predicts Generation Z's purchase decisions, with customer satisfaction as the mediating variable. Using a survey-based design, data were collected from 53 Gen Z respondents and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling–Partial Least Squares (SEM–PLS). The study results show that consumer shopping habits significantly influence their level of satisfaction. Product quality has a significant impact on customer satisfaction. Sharia marketing has a substantial impact on customer satisfaction. Shopping lifestyle has a significant impact on purchasing choices. Product quality has a considerable impact on purchasing choices. Sharia marketing has a substantial effect on consumer purchasing decisions. Customer satisfaction significantly affects purchasing decisions. Globally, the study provides empirical evidence supporting the growing relevance of the halal economy and offers insights for policymakers and industries seeking to strengthen consumer trust and competitiveness.

Abstract

The Palestinian issue has been widely discussed since October 2023, when the event known as Thufan Al Aqsa took place. Various media are used to share information, raise awareness, and advocate for justice regarding the genocide, including Instagram's "Add Yours" feature, hashtags, and animated videos. The short animated video titled "I Am from Palestine" is one of media examples that conveys messages and education about the Palestinian state. Furthermore, this video is a creative medium that advocates through compelling narratives and designs. This short animated video tells the story of a Palestinian girl studying in the United States and facing the reality of the normalization of the erasure of her homeland's identity in Western educational institutions. Using qualitative research methods, this study aims to analyze the meaning and construct visual symbols based on Roland Barthes's three levels of semiotic theory: denotation, connotation, and myth. The results of this study demonstrate the denotative and connotative meanings of Palestinian identity and existence, which then build myths related to the significant influence of educational institutions in shaping political beliefs or ideologies, the role of the family in preserving historical roots, and the continued existence of the Palestinian state. The results of this analysis prove that animated videos can play a role as an advocacy medium in building an ideology, in this context, the existence of a Palestinian state, and challenging the narrative of global hegemony amidst the current conflict

Abstract

Peuyeum ketan is a fermented sticky-rice product that has long been part of the culture and local economy of Tarikolot Village, Cibeureum District, Kuningan Regency, West Java. This study examines the director’s role in producing the documentary film Jejak Tradisi Pembuatan Peuyeum Ketan Kabupaten Kuningan. The film adopts an expository documentary approach using voice-over narration and features four informants representing the village government, business owner, marketing staff, and consumer. Data were collected through literature review, field observation, and in-depth interviews, then developed through the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production. During pre-production, the director developed the concept, conducted research, selected informants, and prepared production documents. In production, the director supervised cinematography, interviews, and narration. In post-production, the director organized the narrative, supervised editing, and addressed technical challenges. The findings indicate that limited crew members expanded the director’s responsibilities beyond conventional roles, including production planning and direct coordination with informants. The documentary serves as a medium for preserving the Peuyeum ketan tradition while demonstrating its continuing cultural and economic value.

Abstract

Peuyeum ketan is a traditional culinary heritage of Kuningan Regency that faces preservation challenges due to globalization and changing public preferences. Documentary films provide an effective medium to document, preserve, and promote local cultural heritage. This study aims to produce the documentary film Jejak Tradisi Peuyeum Ketan Kabupaten Kuningan while implementing J-Cut and L-Cut editing techniques to create smooth audiovisual continuity and enhance audience engagement. The production process consisted of three stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production included literature review, observation, concept development, scriptwriting, and production planning. The production stage involved video recording, interviews with resource persons, and documentation of the traditional production process of peuyeum ketan. Post-production focused on editing using Wondershare Filmora, emphasizing the application of J-Cut and L-Cut techniques to improve narrative flow, scene transitions, and synchronization between audio and visual elements. The results demonstrate that these editing techniques produce smoother transitions, more dynamic information delivery, and seamless audiovisual continuity, making the documentary more engaging and informative. Consequently, the documentary serves not only as a medium for cultural preservation but also as an effective promotional tool to increase public awareness and appreciation of the culinary heritage of Kuningan Regency.

Abstract

Background. 21st century education emphasizes the importance of developing high-level thinking skills (HOTS) for students, including analysis, evaluation and synthesis skills. Seamless learning, which integrates technology and media, becomes relevant in this context because it creates a dynamic and connected learning experience. Purpose. This research aims to measure the increase in students’ critical thinking abilities through seamless learning using quasi-experimental methods. By adopting this approach, the research seeks to provide empirical evidence about the effectiveness of seamless learning in improving students’ critical thinking abilities. Method. This research methodology takes a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods. Data was collected from a school in West Sumatra, with research subjects being grade 7 students. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking ability test instruments before and after the learning period. Analysis was carried out using the t-test in SPSS to compare the two groups. Results. The results of the analysis showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups, with a greater increase in critical thinking ability scores in the experimental group. The resulting t value was 0.05, with a p value of less than 0.05, indicating that the difference between the two groups did not occur by chance. This confirms that seamless learning has a positive impact in improving students’ critical thinking abilities.   Conclusion. These findings highlight the success of seamless learning in improving students’ critical thinking abilities. However, this study has limitations, such as the relatively small sample size and limited duration of the intervention. Further research with larger sample sizes is recommended to deepen this understanding.

Abstract

Background: The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into health communication has redefined the way institutions relate to the public; However, existing studies highlight above all the technological and clinical dimensions, leaving a critical gap in understanding AI-driven public relations as a strategic tool that adapts outcomes such as trust and commitment, especially in developing countries. Purpose: This study aims to examine the influence of AI-driven public relations on public trust and engagement in health communication, as well as the mediating role of public trust, using cross-national insights from India and Indonesia. Methods: This study employed a quantitative survey design involving 320 respondents, equally distributed between India and Indonesia. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling based on their experience accessing health-related information through digital platforms involving AI-supported communication features. The pooled cross-national data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: The results demonstrate that AI-powered public relations significantly enhance public trust and public engagement. Public trust also positively influences engagement and serves as the primary mediating mechanism linking AI-driven communication to engagement outcomes. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in health communication is determined not only by its technological sophistication but also by its ability to promote relationships based on the trust of public engagement. Implications: This research expands on public relations theory, integrating AI into the realm of relational communication, highlighting the sensitive contexts of healthcare institutions working in different sociocultural settings and the importance of trust-oriented AI trust strategies.
