Abstract

Schools are one of the most effective places to make humans free from all forms of oppression. Unfortunately, the textbooks used in schools contain a lot of gender inequality. This study aims to understand how the content of Islamic History in the Islamic Education textbook constructs gender which has implications for gender-based injustice. This study uses a qualitative approach with the method of critical discourse analysis by Norman Fairclough’s model. The primary data source used was all Islamic Education subject matters contained on the Islamic Education textbook at the Middle School level published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The data collection technique used is the documentation technique with an in-depth reading mechanism. The findings reveal that there are four gender constructs contained in the Islamic History content, namely: (1) applying the patriarchal culture, (2) placing men as the main character, (3) prioritizing men existence and his roles, and (4) marginalizing the existence and role of women.

Abstract

Islam is a religion that embraces all aspects of life with complete attention, not only those related to rituals and ideological concepts but also holistically. In Islam, cleanliness and purity are both equally important, because cleanliness alone is not enough to be able to face God or worship. Until now, there are still many schools/madrasas in Indonesia that have poor sanitation quality. A healthy and conducive school environment is very much needed to create a quality learning process. The purpose of this study is to create an effective healthy madrasa service management model in the future. Curriculum related to the environment, for example, can be implemented in various ways. First, environmental education is included in the school curriculum. The syllabus and lesson plan (RPP) are examples of learning planning, and the role of teachers is very important in instilling environmental awareness. Second, the principle of character is included in extracurricular activities, such as scouts. Extracurricular activities such as scouts have a direct relationship with nature. Third, participate in activities related to the environment. The approach in this study is a qualitative approach. Qualitative research with descriptive research methods that aim to create descriptions, create pictures, paintings systematically, factually and accurately regarding data, characteristics and relationships of the phenomena studied. Data collection techniques in research: Open, structured interviews, or a combination thereof, Closed, open questionnaires, or a combination thereof. The findings obtained in this study are that a healthy and conducive school environment is very necessary in order to create a quality learning process. Providing knowledge and forming awareness about clean and healthy living behavior in the school environment will be more effective when carried out on students since they are in Madrasah Aliyah, so that it becomes a habit from an early age. By being instilled since in Islamic schools, it is also expected to become a habit when outside the school environment. The healthy madrasah program is often hampered by inadequate facilities and infrastructure, such as inadequate sanitation, dirty canteens and a culture of clean living that has not been implemented. From the results of the evaluation and observation in the madrasah, there are indications of various conditions such as the lack of attention to facilities/infrastructure, knowledge, attitudes of students in the field of health, madrasah canteens, food, personal health.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in MAN 1 Ciamis and SMA Plus Darussalam Ciamis, two institutions integrated with pesantren education under the auspices of the Darussalam Ciamis Islamic Boarding School. The research method used a qualitative approach with structured interview techniques to the principal, curriculum vice-secretary, PAI teachers, and related school parties. Direct observation was conducted with students to get an overview of their perceptions of PAI learning. The results showed that the integration of formal education and pesantren in MAN 1 Ciamis and SMA Plus Darussalam Ciamis created a holistic and value-oriented learning environment. Students respond positively to this approach, although faced with the challenge of adjusting to two different educational patterns. PAI teaching in the classroom is well received by students, while pesantren activities provide an additional dimension in the understanding of Islamic values. The challenges identified involve students' adjustment difficulties, lack of resources, and managerial constraints. Therefore, solutions were proposed through improved curriculum management, adequate resource allocation, and training for teachers. In conclusion, the integration between formal education and Islamic boarding schools in PAI learning has great potential to shape a generation that has a deep understanding of Islam, a strong character, and a balance between academic knowledge and religious practice. With the full support of schools, boarding schools, and the government, efforts can continue to be made to improve the effectiveness of PAI learning in an educational environment integrated with Islamic boarding schools.
