Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between organizational commitment and teacher professionalism in improving the quality of education in vocational high schools. Organizational commitment is defined as the emotional and psychological attachment teachers have to their institutions, and its positive impact on teacher engagement and student outcomes has been well-documented. Teacher professionalism, which includes continuous development, ethical practices, and alignment with industry needs, is particularly crucial in vocational settings. The synergy between these two factors leads to a culture of excellence where teachers are highly motivated and dedicated to delivering quality education. This research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews, focus group discussions, and thematic analysis to explore these dynamics in vocational high schools. The findings highlight the importance of professional development opportunities and supportive work environments in fostering teacher commitment and professionalism. Furthermore, school leadership plays a vital role in cultivating this synergy by providing recognition, creating collaborative environments, and offering incentives for professional growth. The study concludes by recommending policy interventions that focus on enhancing both organizational commitment and professionalism to ensure sustainable improvements in vocational education quality.

Abstract

The growth of weeds in immature cocoa plants is highly susceptible to competition for water, nutrients, and light, which can disrupt the growth of cocoa plants. Efforts to manage cocoa cultivation include weed control using the chemical herbicide paraquat dichloride, a non-selective contact herbicide. This study aimed to determine the effective dosage of paraquat dichloride for controlling weeds in immature cocoa plants, changes in weed composition, and phytotoxicity on immature cocoa plants following the application of paraquat dichloride. The study was conducted in Talang Sepuh Village, Talang Padang Sub-district, Tanggamus Regency, from March–May 2024. The research employed a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with six treatments and four replications. Treatments included paraquat dichloride at doses of 414 g/ha, 552 g/ha, 690 g/ha, 828 g/ha, mechanical weeding, and a control group (no weed control). Data variance homogeneity was tested using Bartlett's test, and data additivity was evaluated with Tukey's test. If the assumptions were met, the mean difference was analyzed using the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at a 5% significance level. The results indicated that paraquat dichloride at doses of 414–828 g/ha effectively controlled total weeds, broadleaf weeds, and dominant weeds (Eleusine indica, Praxelis clematidea, and Synedrella nodiflora). Meanwhile, doses of 552–828 g/ha were effective in controlling grass weeds and dominant weeds (Ottochloa nodosa and Asystasia gangetica). The application of paraquat dichloride did not alter weed composition and did not cause phytotoxic effects on immature cocoa plants..Keywords : Herbicide, Paraquat dichloride, Weed, Immature cocoa.

Abstract

Humanistic principal leadership is essential for fostering inclusive Early Childhood Education (ECE), yet remains underexplored in Indonesia’s inclusive schools. This study examined how principals practice humanistic leadership in two inclusive kindergartens in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, to support diverse learning environments. Using a descriptive qualitative design, data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews with two principals, eight teachers, four parents, and document analysis at Pelita Hati and Bina Sejahtera Kindergartens. Thematic analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s framework. Results show humanistic leadership is reflected in embracing diversity, building supportive environments, and facilitating collaboration. Principals lead through participatory decision-making, empathy, care, and promoting each child’s potential, shaping an inclusive, humanistic school culture. The study offers insights into how humanistic leadership operates in inclusive ECE, providing a practical reference for principals and policymakers to strengthen inclusive, child-centered education.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low level of children's activity, cooperation, and cognitive aspects in recognizing number concepts and symbols. The cause of the problem occurs due to the use of learning models that are less innovative and creative, and the lack of children's participation during learning. The solution is to use a combination of Problem Based Learning and Make A Match Models with interesting teaching materials. The purpose of this study is to describe teacher activities, analyze the increase in activity, cooperation, cognitive aspects in recognizing number concepts and symbols. The type of classroom action research was carried out in 4 meetings. The subjects of the study were 16 children in Group A at the Baitul Makmur Islamic Integrated Preschool, Banjarmasin. The results showed that teacher activity reached very good criteria, children's activity reached 100% of the criteria for all active children, cooperation reached 100% of the criteria for all active children, and cognitive development reached 100% of the BSB criteria. It is recommended to use this model as an alternative for developing children's cognitive aspects in recognizing number concepts and symbols.

Abstract

Play-based learning is a highly relevant approach in early childhood education because it creates a fun and meaningful learning environment. This method not only focuses on cognitive aspects but also promotes holistic development in social, emotional, motor, creativity, and language skills. Play serves as the primary means for children to explore their environment, build social interactions, and foster self-confidence and independence. However, the implementation of play-based learning still faces challenges, such as limited resources and a lack of understanding among educators in designing effective activities. This study aims to examine various play-based learning designs that have been implemented in early childhood education and their impact on children's development. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature review approach, through an analysis of journals and related scientific sources. The findings indicate that play-based learning designs that are appropriately designed can provide optimal stimulation for all aspects of children's development. Therefore, this approach is recommended for broader implementation to create innovative, enjoyable, and child-centered learning experiences.
