Abstract

Geomorphology is a field of study that focuses on landforms and the natural processes that shape the earth’s surface. The physical characteristics of an area are important for determining land use suitability, environmental management, and disaster risk mitigation, especially in volcanic regions. This study aims to carry out a geomorphological survey and mapping of Precet Forest Park, located on the slopes of Mount Kawi, East Java. The research uses a descriptive quantitative approach by combining field surveys and geospatial data analysis. Primary data were obtained from Total Station measurements, GPS tracking, and observations of land use, landforms, and soil characteristics. Meanwhile, secondary data such as DEMNAS, geological maps, and soil type maps from official sources were used to support the analysis. The morphometric data were processed using interpolation methods including Kriging, Minimum Curvature, and Polynomial techniques through Surfer and QGIS software. The results showed that the study area is dominated by volcanic landforms with Cambisol soils that have a silty clay texture. The topography is characterized by steep to undulating slopes with varying soil permeability and saturation levels, which affect slope stability. Mass movements such as slumps were identified in several locations. The findings of this research are expected to support land use planning and environmental management efforts, as well as serve as a learning reference for geography students in applying geomorphological mapping techniques in the field.

Abstract

The contest for global leadership is increasingly centered in the Indo-Pacific, where major powers the United States, China, and Russia are vying for strategic resources. This rivalry spans multiple domains (energy, critical minerals, technology, land, and information) and is reshaping the region’s security architecture. This article examines how resource competition (for example, disputes over oil in the South China Sea, the 5G and semiconductor race, and struggles for supply routes) is impacting Indo-Pacific geopolitics and influencing Indonesia’s security environment. It underlines the urgency for Indonesia to respond by recalibrating its national defense doctrine. Grounded in the Asta Cita 2045 vision, Indonesia must formulate an adaptive defense doctrine that strengthens maritime security, multi-domain capabilities (cyber and space), and defense diplomacy all while upholding its independent and active foreign policy. Using an interdisciplinary approach, this study identifies patterns of resource rivalry among great powers, assesses the threats and opportunities for Indonesia, evaluates gaps in Indonesia’s current defense doctrine, and proposes a new “Indo-Pacific” defense doctrine framework aligned with the Indonesia Gold 2045 agenda. The analysis recommends a proactive and comprehensive Indonesian defense doctrine to safeguard sovereignty and national resources amid global rivalry, enabling Indonesia to contribute constructively to regional stability toward 2045.
MPC-Bayesian Process Control Optimization for Continuous Chemical Plant with Load Variability and Time Delay Hartono, Rudi

Abstract

This research proposes a Bayesian MPC framework for continuous chemical plant operations facing load variability and non-stationary time delays. The process model is built in a grey-box manner and supplemented with Gaussian Process-based residual learning to capture the model-plant mismatch and its uncertainties. Delays are modeled as time-varying variables through probabilistic estimation (multiple-model/particle-based), which are then integrated into a delay-aware predictor so that state propagation considers the delay distribution over the horizon. State estimation is performed using Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) or Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF), while control decisions are derived from economic MPC with chance constraints to ensure that the risk of constraint violations remains below a predefined threshold. To make it suitable for real-time application on industrial platforms (cycle time ~2 s), we employ adaptive move-blocking, warm-start, and real-time iteration. Evaluation against three benchmarks—coordinated PID, deterministic MPC, and robust MPC—shows consistent performance improvement in scenarios with ±30% throughput change and non-stationary delays ranging from 2 to 8 minutes. Quantitatively, the proposed approach reduces daily economic costs by approximately 6.4% compared to deterministic MPC, decreases energy consumption, reduces off-spec rate to approximately 1.1%, minimizes constraint violations to ≈2 occurrences per 24 hours, and shortens settling time for grade changes to approximately 19 minutes. Ablation studies confirm the complementary contributions of residual learning, delay-aware predictors, and chance constraints to risk and cost reduction. These results confirm the readiness of implementing Bayesian MPC in modern DCS/SCADA for more reliable and cost-effective plant-wide operations.

Abstract

The construction of professional identity among English teachers in private Islamic junior high schools in Indonesia is a multifaceted process influenced by cultural, religious, and institutional factors. Utilizing Bourdieu’s Social Practice theory, which encompasses the concepts of habitus, capital, and field, this study aims to explore how these elements shape teacher agency and professional identity in this unique educational context. Through a qualitative research approach, involving in-depth interviews, data were collected from an English teacher at a private Islamic Junior high school. The participant was selected from among English teachers to represent them at an Islamic private school. The participant is considered to have qualified as a professional English teacher. He has participated in the in-service teacher certification program and has passed, receiving certification benefits. The findings reveal that teachers’ professional identities are shaped not only by their pedagogical skills and knowledge (capital) but also by their alignment with the religious and cultural values of the Islamic school environment (habitus). This alignment influences his sense of agency, affecting how he navigates his roles within the institutional structure (field). This research is particularly valuable for educators, school administrators, and policymakers involved in teacher education and professional development. It suggests that teacher education programs should incorporate strategies that address the cultural context of Islamic education while promoting teacher agency, ultimately benefiting those seeking to enhance the quality and effectiveness of English language teaching in similar educational settings.

Abstract

Conflagration is an unpredictable tragedy. It may occur whether in the woodland areas or in the residential areas. Typically, it would only be recognized if indeed the flames spread and the smoke intensified. This study aims to detect fires using the MQ-2 smoke sensor, DS18b20 temperature sensor, and fire sensor. Using Arduino Uno as the controller, this system’s output is in the form of an alarm buzzer, Short Message Service (SMS) information using SIM800L, and an automatic fire pump. This system operates to detect the temperature shifts, the smoke concentration and the existence of a fire point which triggers an alarm in the form of a siren if two out of the three sensors are activated. It, then, sends information by Short Message Service (SMS) and automatically triggers the pump as the result. The fire sensor can detect hotspots with a maximum distance of 80 cm and the DS18b20 temperature sensor has an average reading error of 0.27 ° C with a maximum reading error of 0.5 ° C. The MQ-2 smoke sensor can detect smoke where the change in smoke concentration is directly proportional to the sensor output voltage. There are three conditions to determine fire conditions, namely the temperature sensor reads more than equal to 55 ° C and the fire sensor is active, or the temperature sensor reads more than equal to 55 ° C and the smoke sensor reads more than equal to 1000 ppm, or the fire sensor is active and smoke sensor reads greater than equal to 1000 ppm.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Blended Problem-Based Learning (Blended-PBL) approach in enhancing speaking performance among EFL students with different self-efficacy levels and explores students’ perceptions of its application in speaking instruction. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research involved 32 undergraduate students of an English Education Study Program, consisting of 16 students with high self-efficacy and 16 with low self-efficacy, who participated in a speaking course during the 2023/2024 academic year. Data were collected through pre- and post-test speaking performance assessments evaluated with an analytic rubric, a self-efficacy questionnaire, and a perception survey, and analyzed using paired sample t-tests and descriptive statistics. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ speaking performance after the Blended-PBL intervention, with a paired sample t-test yielding a value of t = -12.162 (p 0.05), confirming that the gains were statistically significant. Interestingly, although students with high self-efficacy performed slightly better than their peers with lower self-efficacy, the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant, suggesting that Blended-PBL is equally beneficial across varying levels of self-efficacy. Furthermore, perception data demonstrated that students held favorable views toward Blended-PBL, particularly in terms of motivation, collaboration, confidence building, and problem-solving skills. These findings highlight Blended-PBL as an effective and inclusive pedagogical model for EFL speaking instruction, with potential to foster learners engagement, reduce performance gaps, and promote a more supportive and equitable language learning environment. Keywords: Blended problem-based learning, self-efficacy levels, speaking performance

Abstract

Doing the basic food business is a business that is always alive, growing and developing, carried out by business actors in the basic food sector because these nine basic ingredients are part of the lives of Indonesian people. Therefore, basic food stores are mushrooming everywhere, present in communities both in rural and urban areas. More familiarly, the basic food stores don't seem to be far away because every few hundred meters there is a basic food shop or stall. Even in people's markets or traditional markets, most of the grocery stores serve their customers side by side. Grocery stores play a role in the process of economic growth among the lower middle class. These basic foodstuffs or nine basic commodities are very familiar to Indonesians. This anonymous word is very unique for foreigners and they quickly understand this unique word. The needs of these nine basic ingredients can be met when they are available in nearby shops and will make consumers anxious if they are not available in basic food stores. Therefore, the presence of grocery stores is very important in moving the wheels of the economy. to meet household expenses. This research uses descriptive quantitative research aimed at exploring the management of basic food businesses by traditional-based traders and technology-based traders.

Abstract

The development of the Theater in South Kalimantan, especially Banjarbaru continues to grow rapidly. This is not appropriate with the lack of existing facilities and infrastructure makes theatre activities in South Kalimantan not well developed. Therefore in 2019, South Kalimantan Provincial Government together with Banjarmasin Cultural Park will plan the construction of Theatre Performance Building in a New Cultural Park Area which is located in the Governor’s Office Area of South Kalimantan. They want Theater Performance Building with an adequate lighting system and functional support space with directional access. Beside that, they want this Performance Building to become a Landmark in Banjarbaru City with the nuance of South Kalimantan Architecture. Therefore, the suitable method chosen is the Iconic Architectural Method which can be realized with 3 design principles based on a concept review, there are: (a) Traditional Elements, (b) Continuous Rhythm, and (c) Functional Elements. These three elements are realized by analyzing the point of view, circulation, material, color and texture of the interior and exterior in order to produce a good performance building design according to the client's needs.
