Abstract

The widespread use of traditional medicine in Indonesian communities is often not accompanied by adequate awareness of safety, legality, and rational use. This community service program, entitled “Stay Natural, Stay Safe”, aimed to enhance public awareness of proper and safe traditional medicine use through health literacy–based education in Anawai Village, Kendari City. The intervention employed a door-to-door pharmaceutical communication approach supported by printed educational leaflets as communication, information, and education (CIE) media. Activities were conducted through observation, educational counseling, practical demonstrations, and evaluation. The evaluation results showed a high level of community understanding, with a mean score of 4.49 and an achievement rate of 89.73%, categorized as very good. These findings indicate that health literacy–based education supported by leaflets effectively improves community awareness, confidence, and rational behavior in traditional medicine use and can serve as a sustainable community-based health promotion strategy.

Abstract

Transparency in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects within Indonesia's energy sector remains varied despite high environmental risks. This study aims to analyze the effect of board remuneration, multiple large shareholders, and insider CEOs on ESG disclosure. This study employs a quantitative approach using unbalanced panel data from 44 energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2022 to 2024. Data analysis was conducted using panel data regression with the Random Effect Model. The results indicate that board remuneration and the presence of multiple large shareholders have a significant positive effect on ESG disclosure. Conversely, the insider CEO status was not proven to significantly affect the level of sustainability disclosure. Additionally, profitability was found to be a crucial prerequisite for transparency, whereas capital structure had no meaningful impact. The study concludes that structural governance mechanisms through financial incentives and shareholder monitoring are more dominant in driving sustainability accountability compared to executive background characteristics

Abstract

Digital transformation has shifted the learning process from physical to virtual spaces, influencing patterns of interaction and social relations between students and educators. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to understand the subjective experiences of students and educators regarding changes in social relations during virtual learning. The research subjects consisted of 15 students and 5 educators selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, virtual observations, and digital documentation, then analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological stages. The results show that social relations in virtual learning spaces tend to be more functional, influenced by the intensity of digital interaction, technological access and literacy, communication ethics, social identity, and emotional aspects of students. The gap in digital access and capabilities creates new social stratifications that affect student participation and engagement. Changes in communication ethics and psychological pressures, including anxiety about appearing in front of a camera, also affect social cohesion. Group collaboration and support between students are important factors in building social closeness. Teachers have a strategic role in creating digital learning spaces that support healthy social interactions. The findings of this study provide theoretical and practical contributions to the development of learning strategies that maintain the quality of social relations in the digital era.

Abstract

Social inequality and economic disparity are still deep-rooted structural problems in the lives of Indonesian society. Although various empowerment programs have been launched by local governments, many of them are symbolic and technocratic, and fail to touch the roots of social injustice. This study aims to analyze social intervention strategies in community empowerment programs through a critical sociological approach. Using a literature study method with a qualitative approach, this study examines key theories such as power relations (Foucault), symbolic power (Bourdieu), capability approach (Sen and Nussbaum), and participatory parity (Fraser). The results of the analysis show that the dominance of power in the planning and implementation of empowerment programs often ignores the local socio-cultural context and narrows the space for citizen participation. Empowerment, which should be transformative, has instead become a tool for legitimizing elite, top-down policies. Therefore, the integration of substantive capability and participatory approaches in local policies is needed to dismantle structural inequality and build democratic, just, and inclusive governance. This study emphasizes the importance of reorienting the empowerment paradigm from merely administrative to social transformation that favors marginalized groups and expands the real freedom of society.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of local wisdom values with digital technology in empowering tourist village communities in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. Bone Regency has strong cultural values such as siri' na pacce which are the foundation of collective identity, but tourism village development policies are still uniform and do not accommodate local cultural characteristics. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through interviews, participatory observation, and documentation in several tourist villages. Thematic analysis was conducted to understand the dynamics of the meaning of local values, technology adaptation, and community participation. The results of the study indicate tension between cultural preservation and the demands of modern digitalization. Village communities adopt technology selectively with the important role of traditional leaders as curators of cultural content. Social media is an effective means of promoting and expressing cultural identity, but low digital access and literacy are obstacles. The study emphasizes the need for an inclusive and participatory digital empowerment approach, involving all community actors to make technology an instrument for preserving and strengthening culture while encouraging sustainable socio-economic transformation of tourist villages. This model is expected to bridge tradition and modernity harmoniously in the context of local tourism development.

Abstract

The present study investigated the current practice of EFL Classroom assessment focusing on speaking skills in Junior High School. Speaking Assessment is a tool used to evaluate students’ oral skills in the formal system by the English teachers. The investigation of classroom speaking assessment in this school was based on its effectiveness in light of alternative assessment tool and pedagogical values. By using ADDIE model, we constructed an oral assessment in accordance with the needs and levels of students as well as components on the oral assessment. There were five commons models such as Oral Interview, Role Play, Guessing Games, Story Telling and Oral Report that are communicative, relevant, continues, simple and various forms. These models can be used to assess students’ speaking skills regardless of time and place as its validity and practicality tests appeared to be high (93.75 and 87.5).  It can be concluded that these assessment models are applicable for teachers to assess students’ speaking skill. The paper further elaborates discussion on the utilizing of students’ ability, progress, and their learning process. In short, it is a high time for the teachers to apply these models in the classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the basis of the Supreme Court judges' considerations in the deviation. This study uses a normative legal research method. The results of the study indicate that the Supreme Court corrected the judex facti decision by changing the application of the article from Article 114 paragraph (1) to Article 112 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, the change in the application of the article by the Supreme Court was based on the failure to fulfill the elements of a sales intermediary due to the absence of relevant witnesses. However, in the aspect of criminalization, the Supreme Court imposed a prison sentence below the special minimum limit without adequate consideration of the reasons for the deviation, while the fine was still imposed according to the provisions of the law. This condition indicates a weak construction of the argumentation for punishment which has the potential to cause disparity in punishment, as well as create uncertainty in the application of the special minimum criminal provisions in judicial practice. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of comprehensive and argumentative considerations by judges in every deviation from the special minimum criminal provisions in order to maintain justice and legal certainty.
