Abstract

Cats are known to be potential reservoirs for a variety of zoonotic pathogens. However, the overall prevalence of zoonotic pathogens in the cat population remains unclear amid growing concerns. This study aimed to measure the combined prevalence of zoonotic pathogens in cats through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Relevant literature reporting the prevalence of zoonotic pathogens in cats, published from 2015 to 2025, was collected from databases. A total of 49 studies met the inclusion criteria, encompassing a total sample size of 18,206 cats. A meta-analysis was performed using a random-effects model. Toxoplasma gondii, Bartonella henselae, and Campylobacter spp. were the most frequently reported pathogens, with pooled prevalence estimates presented with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The I² statistic was used to assess heterogeneity. The combined prevalence of zoonotic pathogens in cats was estimated at 24% (95% CI: 17–32%). Considerable heterogeneity was observed among the studies (I² = 98.4%, p < 0.001), and this likely reflects differences in geographic region, diagnostic methods, and pathogen type. Individual study prevalences ranged from 0.02 to 0.97, with varying weights according to sample size and variance. This meta-analysis highlights the relatively high prevalence of zoonotic pathogens among cats. The relevance of applying a One Health perspective is emphasized by these findings for the development of evidence-based public health policies to reduce zoonotic risks at the community and global levels.

Abstract

Stroke patients frequently experience verbal communication impairments due to orofacial muscle weakness and reduced respiratory control. These conditions significantly affect their quality of life and social interactions. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of lip exercise and blowing pipe interventions in improving verbal communication among stroke patients. A pre-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design was conducted at a public hospital's inpatient ward. A total of 21 stroke patients were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention group received a structured program of lip exercise and blowing pipe therapy twice daily for 5 days. Verbal communication ability was measured using the Frenchay Dysarthria Assessment (FDA) scale. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. There was a significant improvement in verbal communication scores in the intervention group (p < 0.05), while no significant changes were observed in the control group. The combined therapy demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing articulation, breath control, and overall verbal expression. Lip exercise and blowing pipe interventions are effective, simple, and low-cost therapies that significantly improve verbal communication in stroke patients.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Indonesia experiences economic and human resource inequality. This inequality is caused by several factors, one of which is development that focuses on the island of Java. Apart from that, the Indonesian government has designated 62 disadvantaged areas, all of which are outside the island of Java. Objectives: This research aims to examine and analyze the direct and indirect influence of capital expenditure and operational expenditure on human development in underdeveloped regions in Indonesia through the regional economy as an intervening variable. Therefore, this research focuses on underdeveloped areas in Indonesia from 2011 to 2021. Method: This research is quantitative using the panel regression method with path analysis. The variables used in this research are government spending as an exogenous variable, and human development as an endogenous variable. Results: The results of this research show that capital expenditure has a negative effect on human development, while operational and regional economic expenditure has a positive effect on human development in underdeveloped areas. On the other hand, operational spending has a positive effect on the regional economy, but capital spending has a negative effect on the regional economy of underdeveloped regions. Capital expenditure has a negative impact on the regional economy because government spending so far has not met the needs of regional communities, and its value is still relatively low, inefficiency, and development is still focused on urban areas on the island of Java, so there is a need for more inclusive infrastructure investment.

Abstract

Viscose rayon fiber is a semi-synthetic material derived from regenerated cellulose. The cellulose used to make viscose rayon is extracted from natural sources, resulting in fibers that are physically similar to cotton and have characteristics such as softness and high absorbency. The viscose manufacturing process involves chemical modification of cellulose using carbon disulfide (CS2), which is dangerous if exposed to humans. Carbon disulfide residues, along with endotoxin biological agents present on rayon fibers, can be inhaled into the respiratory tract. This causes oxidative protein damage, which then activates the oxidative stress response. This response ultimately results in the release of oxidants that induce inflammatory mediators, triggering acute or chronic inflammatory reactions in the airways and alveoli, resulting in decreased lung function. A systematic approach is essential for gathering and interpreting relevant data. This approach can be organized into seven steps to diagnose occupational lung diseases. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) represents the final but most important defense. Recommended PPE includes respirator masks with suitable particle filters, protective eyewear to prevent eye irritation, chemical-resistant gloves to protect the skin from direct contact, and full-body work clothing.

Abstract

Employee competency is a crucial factor in organizational success. This paper explores the multifaceted relationship between four key elements that contribute to competency: training, talent, technological systems, and personality. We review existing literature on the impact of training programs on skill development and knowledge acquisition. We then examine the role of inherent talent and its influence on the learning process and ultimate competency. The paper further investigates how technological systems can both enhance and challenge employee competency, depending on their design and user characteristics. Finally, we analyze the influence of personality traits on an individual's approach to learning, technology adoption, and overall performance. Through this comprehensive review, we aim to shed light on the complex interplay between these factors and their combined effect on employee competency. This knowledge can be valuable for organizations in designing effective development programs that foster a competent and adaptable workforce.

Abstract

Fish is the main product of marine catches which is widely consumed to meet food needs. Fish is a product that is easily damaged or spoiled, especially at room temperature conditions. Transport must be carried out with care so that fishery products are not exposed to high temperatures during loading and transportation of transport vehicles. One thing that needs to be considered in using a box truck fleet as a means of transportation for transporting frozen fish is choosing the right cooling machine capacity. This study aims to calculate the cooling load on box trucks for transporting frozen fish. With the resulting total cooling load and the proportion of cooling load can be a consideration in selecting the cooling machine used in the car cooler. From the existing analysis data, the total cooling load of a frozen fish transport truck box with box dimensions of 250cm x 170cm x 165cm and a total load of 1200kg of fish is 5531 Watts. The cooling machine recommended for use in frozen fish transport box trucks requires a cooling machine with a power of 2 PK.

Abstract

One way of handling caught fish so that freshness is maintained is by lowering the temperature or cooling the temperature of the fish. At low temperatures, the biochemical processes that take place in the fish's body that lead to a decrease in fish quality take place more slowly. In addition, at low temperature conditions the growth of spoilage bacteria in the fish's body can also be slowed down. This study aims to calculate the cooling load on the use of cold room GEA type GAC-245 for fish preservation. With the resulting total cooling load and the percentage of cooling load can be considered in the use of the cold room. The results showed that the total cooling load was 9460 Watt. The biggest cooling load is the product load with a value of 6475 Watt. The infiltration load is quite large in the second order, so to reduce the use of cold storage, efforts are made so that the door does not open too long or too often.

Abstract

Many steel industries use scrap material as their basic material, both in the machine industry and the metal industry. The reason for using scrap is because this material is easy to obtain, has a high comparative value, has a chemical composition that is still very possible for further processing, and can reduce problems related to metal waste. Scrap material has a non-uniform type and chemical composition. The mistake in determining the type and composition of the basic ingredients will risk producing products whose specifications are not as expected. For that, before scrap is processed, it must first be grouped according to its type, then it is necessary to know in advance the chemical composition of each type of scrap ferrous material. Calculation of material composition before smelting must be precise, referring to the chemical composition standard that becomes the reference. The production of scrap iron into concrete reinforcing steel at PT Abadi Jaya Manunggal shows that scrap iron can be recycled and processed to produce reinforcing steel for concrete by taking into account the correct scrap composition. The chemical composition test results of scrap iron smelting show a composition identical to that of grade 250 steel. The result of the calculation of carbon equivalent is 0.317%, lower than the required maximum limit of 0.6%.

Abstract

The cylinder in the internal combustion engine is one of the main parts, where this part is where the piston works. Due to the importance of the piston and cylinder functions in the combustion process in diesel engines, it is necessary to have a good maintenance schedule, as well as repairs to overcome existing problems. Among the things that can be done if the piston and cylinder damage is severe is to replace the piston (oversize). This study aims to identify wear problems on the cylinder liner and piston of diesel engines. Measurement of cylinder liner clearance is carried out to determine wear and tear by comparing it with the initial standard diameter. The piston diameter measurement is carried out to determine its wear by comparing it with the initial standard diameter size. The biggest wear occurs in cylinder liner number 4 which is 0.42 mm. After measuring the diesel engine with 6 cylinders, the largest wear result was obtained on cylinder liner number 4, which was 0.42 mm. The biggest piston wear occurs on piston number 1 which is 0.65mm. Need to oversize almost all cylinders except for cylinder number 2.
