Abstract

Early mobilization is a therapeutic approach involving physical activity or patient mobilization that begins early after medical procedures, such as surgery, especially in the context of intensive care unit (ICU) care. The purpose of this study was to prevent complications associated with immobility, such as muscle weakness, decreased physical function, and cardiovascular problems, and to accelerate patient recovery. The research method used a literature review with a search for relevant articles using semantic science. This study is in accordance with the keywords that have been found and refers to the criteria for dysarthria and speech therapy, the overall search results for articles from 3 databases contained 350 articles. After filtering the full text obtained 10 journals from scientific articles published in the last 5 years (2019-2024), which showed that there was an influence of the externalization socialization method combined with internalization in improving the implementation of early mobilization in the inpatient ward. Research with an orthogonal design showed no influence of the externalization socialization method combined with internalization in improving the implementation of early mobilization.

Abstract

Bloating and abdominal distension are common complaints that can be caused by various factors, including intestinal motility disorders, postoperative effects, and functional digestive disorders. While pharmacological therapy is often used, various non-pharmacological interventions have been developed as safer alternatives with minimal side effects. This literature review aims to examine various non-pharmacological interventions for addressing intestinal motility disorders, bloating, and abdominal distension based on available evidence. A search for scientific articles, including randomized clinical trials and randomized controlled trials, was conducted using inclusion and exclusion criteria based on the PICOS format. Articles were retrieved from databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL (2018–2025), focusing on publications in English and Indonesian. Keywords related to bloating, flatulence, and abdominal distension interventions were used to identify relevant studies. The process of searching for high-quality research articles was conducted using the PRISMA 2020 diagram. Initially, 831 articles were identified, with 648 eliminated due to duplication, being outside the topic, or lacking full-text access. This resulted in 183 articles screened. After the eligibility assessment, 170 articles were further excluded for not meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The final selection process resulted in 13 articles that were included and discussed in this study. Non-pharmacological interventions have been shown to effectively reduce bloating and accelerate the recovery of intestinal peristalsis. Specific interventions include: (chewing gum, which promotes flatus release and defecation; mentha spicata L. essential oil, which has analgesic properties and reduces bloating; warm compresses, which significantly enhance intestinal peristalsis; thoracoabdominal biofeedback, which effectively reduces abdominal distension; early mobilization, which accelerates the recovery of intestinal peristalsis and lowers the risk of postoperative ileus; chamomile, which has therapeutic effects in reducing flatulence and distension; coffee or caffeine consumption, which significantly promotes intestinal function recovery. Non-pharmacological interventions have proven effective in alleviating symptoms and accelerating the recovery of intestinal peristalsis, bloating, and abdominal distension.

Abstract

Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition characterized by airway narrowing, inflammation, and excessive mucus production. Relapse refers to the recurrence of symptoms, which can be severe and disrupt daily activities, often necessitating additional care, either outpatient or inpatient, sometimes with a longer duration than previous episodes. The objective of this literature review is to examine the factors influencing asthma relapse. This study employed a literature review design. Articles were identified through online databases, specifically Google Scholar and PubMed, using keywords and Boolean operators such as AND, OR, NOT. The search terms included “Factors Associated with Asthma” AND “Relapse Asthma.” The literature search was conducted in November 2024, focusing on articles published between 2020 and November 2024. A total of 683 articles were retrieved from Google Scholar and PubMed. Based on the review of 10 selected studies, it was concluded that asthma triggers may result from biological, environmental, or chemical factors. Factors associated with asthma exacerbations include a history of smoking, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), obesity, nasal polyps, depression, and anxiety. Factors linked to severe asthma exacerbations include atopic conditions and passive smoking as primary indicators.

Abstract

Early mobilization of mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care unit is an important intervention in preventing immobilization complications such as muscle weakness, decreased functional capacity, and prolonged length of stay. Despite its widely reported benefits, the implementation of early mobilization still faces various challenges, including limited resources, risk perception, and lack of systematic guidelines. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of early mobilization on clinical outcomes of mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care unit through a literature review. Methods: This study used a systematic literature review approach by searching national and international scientific articles published in the last five years, 2020-2025. The search was conducted through three main databases: PubMed, Google Scholar, and SciSpace. The search strategy referred to the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) framework using keywords such as “early mobilization”, “mechanical ventilation”, “ICU outcomes”, and “clinical outcomes”. From a total of 108 articles found, an initial screening process eliminated duplicates and irrelevant articles, resulting in 32 articles for further review. After a selection process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, only 9 articles met all criteria and were analyzed in depth. Results: The review showed that early mobilization positively contributed to various clinical outcomes, including increased muscle strength, reduced duration of ventilator use, decreased length of stay, and improved functional status of post-ICU patients. The success of this intervention was influenced by the involvement of a multidisciplinary team, clear mobilization protocols, and adequate training for health workers.

Abstract

Cancer is a chronic disease that not only affects patients physically, but also causes significant psychosocial distress. These psychosocial aspects have been shown to reduce patients' quality of life, yet are often overlooked in clinical practice. In fact, psychosocial-based interventions can strengthen emotional resilience and improve overall therapeutic outcomes. This review aims to evaluate the contribution of psychosocial aspects to cancer patients' quality of life based on recent scientific literature. This study was a systematic literature review by searching articles from two major databases, namely PubMed and Google Scholar, within the period 2020-2025. The search strategy was organized based on the PICO framework using keywords such as “psychosocial factors”, “quality of life”, and “cancer patients”. From a total of 180 articles found, 28 duplicate articles were eliminated, leaving 152 unique articles. The next stage of screening was done by reviewing the titles and abstracts, so 79 irrelevant articles were excluded and 73 articles continued to the next stage. At the eligibility assessment stage, 32 articles were selected after full-text reading and evaluation based on the inclusion criteria, which included discussing the relationship between psychosocial aspects and the quality of life of cancer patients, being available in full-text format, and written in either English or Indonesian. Finally, an in-depth evaluation of the quality and relevance of the articles was conducted, resulting in only 10 articles being deemed eligible for analysis in this literature review. The literature review indicated that psychosocial aspects such as anxiety, depression, coping, social support, and spirituality were shown to determine the quality of life of cancer patients. Psychosocial aspects are important determinants of cancer patients' quality of life.

Abstract

TOGA or family medicinal plants are plants with medicinal properties that are planted in home gardens. TOGA can provide health and economic benefits for residents. Based on observations in Kiram Village, so far the people of Kiram Village, especially the people of RT 01, have not used their yard land optimally. Only some village residents use their yard for planting TOGA and it is not optimal. Therefore, it is necessary to provide outreach, training and assistance for TOGA intensification to the Kiram Village community. The aim of this outreach and assistance activity is to improve the function of home gardens through the application of TOGA, empower the community with new knowledge and skills in TOGA cultivation and increase community knowledge of the benefits of TOGA for health. Methods: Activities carried out include outreach and counseling, training and mentoring, as well as monitoring and evaluation. After the counseling and mentoring activities, there was an increase in public knowledge regarding various types of TOGA, the use of TOGA and how to cultivate TOGA. The public also understands more about the benefits of TOGA for health. Before the community service activity was carried out, only three houses had their yards planted with TOGA, whereas after the activity there were 15 houses whose yards had been used by the community to plant TOGA.

Abstract

The success of Islamic countries shows that waqf can contribute to overcoming economic problems. In Indonesia, waqf management is regulated through Law No. 41 of 2004, Government Regulation No. 25 of 2018, and Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation No. 4 of 2009. The local government and the Belitung Regency BWI are actively developing productive waqf by optimising the role of nazhir. This study uses a case study method with observation, documentation, and interviews with five key informants from the BWI, religious leaders, community leaders, and the nazhir forum. Data analysis refers to Miles and Huberman. The results show that the BWI's nazhir guidance mechanism covers two aspects. First, the recruitment pattern is through letters to village heads and the Religious Affairs Office (KUA), but it is still limited to the village and mosque levels. Second, guidance is carried out through basic socialisation without special certification. Optimising the role of nazhir includes regeneration, technical training, and increasing waqf literacy. BWI Belitung needs to revitalise its management and synergise with Ministry of Religious Affairs programmes such as waqf incubation and the millennial literacy movement.

Abstract

The gig economy has arisen as a dynamic yet intricate factor in worldwide labor markets, providing workers with more flexibility but also posing substantial challenges concerning job security, wages, and legal protections. This research uses a bibliometric review of 980 academic articles and investigates significant elements influencing the gig economy, such as actual salaries, inflation rates, joblessness, data utilization, and gender interactions. Five primary groupings were detected, each illustrating the intricate connection among these variables. The results show that although the gig economy offers flexible work options, it also worsens problems like income inequality, exploitation, and gender disparities. Utilizing data-driven strategies and organizing labor movements are becoming more crucial in addressing these issues, providing gig workers with resources to enhance their work environments. This article discusses the economic and social impacts of the gig economy, and suggests policy suggestions to promote a fairer and more comprehensive job market for all employees.
