Abstract

Rice washing water is still considered as household waste because its benefits for plants are not widely known. Rice washing water is obtained from water that is washed many times before cooking which is rich in carbohydrate content in the form of starch and glucose and vitamins. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) require sugar or carbohydrates from rice washing water which is used as food to support metabolic activity and microbial cell proliferation. LAB is also included in a large group of microorganisms that physiologically produce lactic acid as the main metabolic product. LAB are classified as good bacteria so they are widely used as food processing products, especially those related to human digestion. The use of lactic acid bacteria in the agricultural sector is still very minimal, especially as a biodecomposer, even though LAB has the ability to produce cellulase enzymes which are very important in the breakdown of lignin in organic matter. This study aims to determine the presence of lactic acid bacteria in rice washing water fermentation. Isolation of lactic acid bacteria using pour plate method with MRSA (de Man Rogosa Sharpe Agar) media. Lactic acid bacteria isolates obtained were then characterized morphologically, physically, and biochemically. The results of isolation and characterization obtained four isolates with the codes AL-01, AL-02, AL-03, and AL-04. Four LAB isolates showed gram-positive, catalase-positive, non-motile, non-H2S, and IAA-positive results.

Abstract

Abstract

Red chilies are one of the important horticultural products in Indonesia. One of the plant pest disease organisms which attack red chili plants is anthracnose disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum capsici. Prevention of plant pest disease organisms, especially anthracnose disease by farmers is still oriented towards the use of pesticides. Evaluation of existing fungicides must be carried out so that possible negative impacts can be anticipated early. A Randomized Block Design was used with treatment of several types of functional active ingredients, namely Hexanocazole 50 g/L + Carbendazim 50 g/L (P1); Azoxystrobin 250 g/L (P2); Tebuconazole 430 g/L (P3); Indoxacarb 20% (P4); Simoxanil 20% (P5); Dimethomorph 50% (P6); Methyl-thiophanate 70% (P7); Mancozeb 80% (P8); Azocystrobin 200g/L + Difenoconazole 125 g/L (P9); and control or no active ingredient (P10). The results show that Simoxanil 20% fungicide has an efficacy level of more than 60% and is able to prevent the spread of C. capsici attacks in the field at a disease intensity percentage of 30%.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Islamic Boarding School Management in fostering disciplined character among students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Al Ma'had An-Nur, utilizing a qualitative, descriptive approach. Data collection involved interviews, observations, and documentation, focusing on the disciplinary program's planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research highlights the Islamic Boarding School as a critical environment for continuous supervision and character development, embedding Quranic values in everyday life. The process involves three educational pillars: madrasah, family, and community, with learning experiences shaped through exemplary behavior and habituation. The study's findings show that at MI Al Ma'had An-Nur, disciplinary character development is executed through structured phases, incorporating goal setting, program implementation, continuous support, and rigorous evaluation. The school's approach integrates religious, educational, and communal elements, making it a powerful model for Islamic education. However, the study's focus on a single institution and reliance on qualitative data suggest broader research, including comparative studies and quantitative methods, to deepen understanding of Islamic Boarding School practices. The research serves as a reference for other Islamic schools in developing character development programs and contributes to the broader field of Islamic education.
